Deborah LeBlanc is an award-winning, bestselling American author of paranormal, romance, mystery, and thrillers. A resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Deborah is a versatile professional with private and death scene investigator licenses. She has over two decades of experience as a paranormal investigator. Deborah is the primary ‘clairsendium’ for the forthcoming paranormal investigation TV series, Through the Veil.

Additionally, she has contributed significantly to various writer associations. She served as the president of the Horror Writers Association for four years, the Writers’ Guild of Acadiana for eight years, and leading the Mystery Writers of America’s Southwest Chapter for two years. In 2007, Deborah founded Literacy Inc., a nonprofit organization to combat illiteracy among American teenagers. Her dedication to investigative work and literacy advocacy underscores her diverse and impactful contributions to multiple fields.

Toe to Toe is the first novel Nonie Broussard Ghost Tracker by Deborah Leblanc. This is a spin-off from her usual dark, occult-themed novels. We are introduced to the main character, Nonie Broussard. She is a medium; as the name suggests, she acts as a bridge between our world and spiritual worlds. This character development showcases Deborah’s talent for crafting supernatural tales that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. It’s to be noted that Nonie is the ‘clairsendium’ for an upcoming paranormal TV series.

Crafting a character like Nonie demands skill, and Deborah effortlessly dives into Nonie’s world from the very start of the book. Her adept storytelling is evident in the opening lines, where we see Nonie struggling with her work. This also contributes to the tone of the story.
We immediately learn that Nonie Broussard, a closet medium, faces financial struggles after losing her job. Living in the small town of Clay Point, Louisiana, she encounters two not-easy-to-handle opportunities that put her unique abilities to the test. Entwined with a funeral home and conducting paranormal investigations alongside a multifaceted group, Nonie navigates these ventures as she grapples with paying her rent. This results in an explosion of unexpected events that put her skills to the test.

Deborah LeBlanc skillfully blends the supernatural, strange creatures, and dark moments spiced with a pinch of wry humor in this unfolding, fast-paced tale. The story takes the reader on an entertaining journey as Nonie, the reluctant medium, embarks on an unconventional path to make ends meet in her offbeat town.

The Wolven is the third novel in The Keepers Trilogy, a collaboration of Deborah LeBlanc, Alexandra Sokoloff, and Heather Graham. The story takes place in New Orleans, a city known for its supernatural beings like vampires, shape-shifters, and werewolves. There are special guardians called Keepers whose main duty is maintaining peace and harmony between these creatures and humans. Each species has its own Keeper who acts as an elite warrior to ensure peace.

Among them, Shauna MacDonald is the youngest of three sisters and serves as the Keeper of the werewolves. She inherited her role as a Keeper after her parents’ demise in the species war, becoming the caretaker of the werewolves.

She manages a local magic shop with the help of her sisters. When a series of murders targets werewolves, Shauna is determined to investigate and bring the culprit to justice. To help solve the murders, Shauna joins forces with Danyon Stone, the Alpha Pack Leader, who is also investigating these killings as members of his pack are among the victims.

During their investigations, Shauna and Danyon discover something unique about the murders. The victims are always found in their werewolf form, lacking fangs and claws. It’s revealed that the missing body parts are being turned into a fine powder, akin to a drug that grants physical abilities similar to those of a werewolf.

To help solve the murder mysteries before more end up being dead, Shauna and Danyon must form an alliance with other Keepers and their partners to apprehend the killer. Although Shauna and Danyon have crossed paths before, they’ve never connected romantically, even when it’s clear that there’s an attraction between them. Danyon hesitates due to Shauna being human. However, when the killer targets Shauna, Danyon realizes she is his mate and vows to protect her at any cost.

Deborah LeBlanc’s The Wolven is the final novel in The Keepers Trilogy and delivers an exciting ending to the book series.

Published in Water Witch by Deborah Leblanc, she showcases her distinctive talents and atmospheric Bayou-style storytelling in Water Witch, a gripping tale packed with suspense and terror. The main character, Dunny Pollock, possesses a unique ability—a supernumerary digit—that enables her to locate things, a skill historically used for finding water but extends to finding people in Dunny’s case. When her sister Angelle seeks Dunny’s help to locate two missing children, Dunny realizes they’ve been kidnapped by a man seeking to harness ancient Indian spirits for personal power.

Leblanc skillfully weaves a haunting tale in this novel, utilizing the eerie backdrop of the Bayou and its associated legends as an integral part of the story. The tension steadily intensifies, employing the tried-and-true technique of a race against time. Dunny must swiftly leverage all her resources to rescue the children before they become sacrificial victims in the man’s ritual.

The author has created interesting and easy-to-connect with characters blended with a compelling and engaging storyline. Leblanc’s mastery of prose adds depth and enjoyment to the read, making Water Witch a must-read novel for fans of suspenseful tales with a touch of the supernatural.

The characters in the story feel real and relatable, drawing the reader’s empathy on various levels. Their conversations are vivid and authentic, especially when reflecting the nuances of Southern culture. The storyline unfolds smoothly, feeling comfortable and somewhat familiar, like slipping into a well-worn shoe.

The pacing of events keeps the book engaging, propelling the narrative forward without lingering excessively. While the story maintains a creepy atmosphere fitting for a horror novel, it doesn’t delve into overly gruesome or blood-curdling moments. However, for seasoned horror fans, achieving that chilling effect can become challenging due to familiarity with the genre.
