Deborah Morgan is a popular novelist from the United States, who is famous for writing cozy mystery, thriller, and fiction novels. She has written the highly successful Antique Lover series as well as a few standalone novels. Deborah hails from the town of Grove, Oklahoma. She says that she developed the craze of becoming a writer at a very young age. When Deborah was small, she won a competition in her hometown that rewarded her with some money. The money aspect increased her interest even more and motivated her to focus more on her writing and story developing skills. As the years passed by, Deborah worked hard and succeeded in establishing herself as a reputed novelist. Author Deborah has won awards in fiction as well as nonfiction categories. Her most recent award was the Stirrup Award that she won in 2013 from the WWA for one of her articles published in the Roundup Magazine.

In addition to being involved in the field of novel writing, Deborah has also participated in writers’ conventions, seminars, and workshops. More often, she has served as a panel moderator and speaker at such writers’ events. Additionally, Deborah has been an active member of the WWA. Deborah’s Antique Lover book series features the lead protagonist in the role of Jeff Talbot. He is depicted as an antique picker and a former FBI agent. Throughout the series, Jeff Talbot is depicted as getting involved in mysterious cases involving antiques. He uses his investigative and detection skills to unravel each of the mysteries. While doing so, he helps the authorities in catching the culprits and saving the lives of innocent people. Each of the novels featuring Jeff Talbot has featured in the bestseller list of the Association of the Independent Mystery Booksellers. The third novel of the series, entitled The Marriage Casket, has even achieved the number one spot on that list. In 2013, author Deborah signed a contract with the Crossroad Press for allowing her Jeff Talbot books to be published in e-book format. After that, all the five books, as well as the series as a whole, have gained much wider popularity.

Deborah was brought up on a ranch located just outside her hometown of Grove. At the age of 15, she was the Rodeo Queen of the Grove Roundup Club. Even today, Deborah likes to wear jeans and boots. She likes to include a touch of the western style in her writings. This can be seen very well in her depiction of Mary Shelley as a tough-gal detective, who resides in Detroit, has a pickup truck as her ride, and likes to wear cowboy boots whenever she gets the chance. Similarly, various other examples can be seen in her writings on this matter. Prior to becoming a writer, Deborah was employed in northeastern Oklahoma’s city police department as a Chief Dispatcher. She has also worked as a permit clerk & dispatcher for the Highway Patrol in the Oklahoma City.

Deborah’s work in this field helped her to get acquainted with the basic knowledge about the criminal investigation. Also, Deborah learned how to use a handgun and even trained herself to fire twelve rounds in less than 15 seconds. Such exposure helped Deborah to develop the plots of her tales of mystery and make them interesting to read. In 1993, Deborah moved to Michigan to team up with Loren Estleman. Before that, she used to live in southeast Kansas and work for a biweekly newspaper as its managing editor. Deborah has also served as the managing editor of a couple of national treasure hunt magazines. Along with her editorial duties, Deborah used to write articles, columns, profiles of high-profile personalities, short stories, etc.

Deborah was the art director and editor of the PEWA newsletter and held these posts for a period of three years. As of today, she lives with Loren in a house spread on 120 acres of land in Michigan. They both love antiques very much, which is well reflected in their home. During her spare times, Deborah loves to take up photography. She likes to photograph other authors and many of the photos taken by her have appeared in magazines and newspaper across the nation. Deborah is also a champion poker player and is known to match her skills with prominent poker players. Deborah’s family comprises of a son, a daughter, and a couple of grandchildren. All of them live in Missouri. She tries to as much time with them as possible and enjoys being in their company.

The Antique Lover series written by author Deborah Morgan is comprised of a total of 5 books released between 2001 and 2006. In each of the novels of this mystery series, the lead character is depicted as Jeff Talbot, who is described as an ex-FBI agent and current collector of antique items. Several other essential characters created by Deborah for this series include Bill Rhodes, Lanny, etc. The debut book of the series is entitled ‘Death is a Cabaret’. It was released by Berkeley in 2001. This book introduces the main character Jeff Talbot and also reveals the first mystery that he gets involved in. Deborah has done the setting of the story on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Initially, it is seen that Jeff Talbot visits Mackinac Island to witness the auction of an antique cabaret tea set. Jeff wishes to purchase the tea set at the auction and sell it to one of his client’s. On the very first day of the auction, a fellow antique picker gets murdered and people begin to panic.

Jeff uses his skills as a former detective to help in the murder investigation and catch the killer. When more pickers begin to turn up dead, Jeff realizes that his life is also in danger and he must find the killer before he finds him. The second book, also published by Berkeley, is entitled ‘The Weedless Widow’. This book shows Bill Rhodes and Jeff Talbot in central roles. Jeff and Bill are depicted as close friends. They go fishing together. When Bill informs Jeff that he has a good collection of fishing lures, he checks them out and finds out that they are antique pieces and worth a lot. But shockingly, someone kills Bill Rhodes and steals his antique collection. Jeff vows to track down the collection’s trade in the online market and get to Bill’s murderer. He starts off by tracking an online auction website. Things take a deadly turn for Jeff when he learns that the killer has kidnapped his wife in order to make him give up the murder investigation. Jeff does everything he could to save his beloved wife and make the killer serve justice for his crime.
