An American author hailing from New York City, the writer Declan Finn is well known for his unique and insightful take on the genres of science-fiction and fantasy novels, whilst also combing them with the contemporary thriller to create a compelling style of fiction for which he has been well celebrated. Regarded by both his many peers and contemporaries, as well as among the general public too, he has a distinctive way with words that’s really arresting, something which goes some way towards explaining his massive success. Running such outlets as ‘The Catholic Geeks’ blog, he is a major proponent for both his faith and his craft, providing an outlet to people like him, his being a very specific field. Building worlds and crafting characters that really manage to grab the readers attention, he draws them in through his vivid style of prose, essentially allowing the to feel as if they’re really there, whilst creating characters that resonate with them on an almost intimate level. Regardless of his readers backgrounds or beliefs, he has been able to produce something that people have related to on a universal level, largely due to the manner in which he puts forward his ideas. Direct and to the point, he makes his stories accessible to all, whilst not sacrificing his own voice in the process, something which he’ll continue to do for many years to come.

Early and Personal Life

Born in America the future writer Declan Finn would cultivate a love and passion for the written word over the subsequent years, ensuring that he would have a highly distinctive voice and style when he became a full time novelist. Combining faith and storytelling, he would nurture his passion throughout the years, always ensuring that he would be telling the story that he would want to tell. This would develop gradually throughout his education too, as he would constantly be on the lookout for new and exciting ideas which he would ultimately feed back into his, thus defining his voice overall.

Running a radio show as well on ‘The Catholic Geeks’ site, he would come to speak to a wider audience, bringing his love of the craft worldwide. This would allow him to further define his own brand too, as he would become highly adept at not just writing suspense filled thrillers, but romance novels as well. Not only that, but he would also become well regarded for his wit and sense of humor too, something that he continues to do from his home in New York City to this very day.

Writing Career

It would be in 2012 that he would bring out his first novel with ‘It Was Only on Stun!’, a novel that would be set in the world of science-fiction fandom, something that he would draw from his own life for. The novel would also use the template of a thriller novel, whilst also being a self-contained story, not being a part of any series as such. This would also allow him to make his name as an author, giving readers a clear idea of what to expect in the many years to follow.

Outspoken on a range of different subjects, he is well known for voicing his various opinions both online and off, whether it be at different events, or through his own site and show. Gaining nominations and awards as well, he has received the Dragon Award in the past too, as in 2016 he was nominated for best horror novel. This would then lead to him being marked out as a definite figure to watch, with his national and international audience growing steadily day-by-day.

It Was Only On Stun!

Initially released through the ‘Createspace’ publishing label, this would originally come out on the 4th of July in 2012 to much acclaim. With this also being the debut novel from Finn, it would really manage to highlight what he actually had to offer, whilst also providing an engaging and witty thriller. Although it wasn’t part of any series, it being a stand-alone, it would neither-less keep readers engaged throughout right until the very last page.

Writing about an environment that’s close to him, Declan Finn sets this particular novel close to home, with it taking place within the world of science-fiction conventions. Using the thriller mold as its basis to carry it forwards, it sees Sean A.P. Ryan as its central figure who’s at the center of it all as the leading protagonist. With a sense of humor, it really manages to highlight some of the more absurd aspects of the world it depicts, whilst simultaneously showing a reverence for it too.

Set to watch over a science-fiction convention for three days, the security guard Sean A.P. Ryan thinks the job wont be all that difficult. That’s when he’s faced with the true nature of the venture, as he comes into contact with a whole range of colorful characters and eccentrics. Not only that, but it also appears that there’s an assassin on the loose, someone who believes them-self to be from Middle Earth, as they’ve threatened a celebrity there. Will they follow through on their threat though? Can Ryan find them before it’s too late? What will happen when they state ‘It was only on stun!’?

A Pius Stand

This would come to mark the third book in ‘The Pius Trilogy’, with it continuing on directly from the previous novel. Continuing in much the same vein as the previous two books, it would further develop the characters and the world as a whole. Coming out on the 15th of December in 2015, it would be brought out through the ‘Createspace’ publishing outlet once again.

Bringing the character Sean A.P. Ryan back once more, it sees him this time in a more serious role, as he attempts to ascertain a threat made on the Pope’s life. It would also seem that no help from the international community is coming their way, so it is up to the Vatican themselves to get to the bottom of it all. Not only that, but it would also seem that the church worldwide is under threat, something which they must contend with if they want to save it. Will they manage to though? Who threatened the Pope? Can they make a Pius stand?
