She wrote her first romance book at 14 and got reviews from friends. In 2008 she became a freelance writer and one year later tried fiction writing and came up with her debut, The Arrangement. Blind Date
Blind Date is the debut in the Love Unexpected series. The story flips back and forth between the past and present day. Ryan and Shawna are older and wiser than they were six years ago. When Ryan first met Shawna, he was not self-assured or decisive. He was still trying to be himself when he saw Shawna in the store and decided it was now or never to make a move.
Ryan convinces Shawna to go out with him to have a fabulous weekend together until Shawna realizes that Ryan has a girlfriend. From that day, Shawna got out of Ryan’s life, and six years later, while talking with his friend, he sees her. He pleads with his friend to set up a date, but he never opens up about their history.
Shawna gives in to the blind date since her sister doesn’t want to leave her alone. After seeing that Ryan is her date, she feels like hiding her face and running away. She has lived wishing that she could forget the weekend they spent together. However, Ryan convinces her to stay and discuss what happened years ago and recreate their feelings for each other in the present. Shawna gives in reluctantly just to finish the date, which brings back the chemistry they had the first night together.
Ryan is a bad-ass who is ready to claim his woman without hesitation. At the same time, Shawna is the perfect introverted heroine who keeps her intentions about herself clear while her heart has different ideas. The story is narrated from the third person’s point of view to ensure the reader explores Ryan’s and Shawna’s feelings. The characters are realistic, and the reasons for their breakup and reunion are all believable.
The Wrong Man
The Wrong Man is the second in the Love Unexpected series. Tomas is a construction foreman from Cuba, single, and loves exploring when it comes to love. Talia is an executive from a wealthy background, and her ten-year marriage has just ended up in a divorce. Her relationship with the ex-husband wasn’t so good, so she thought divorcing him would be good, and she isn’t looking to get into any serious relationship soon.
Talia is an African American lady who was lucky to have a privileged upbringing. Her grandmom brought her up after her parents passed away and had so many expectations from her. After realizing that she is getting divorced from her ‘perfect marriage, she’s happy that Talia has chosen her happiness.
Tomas is all alone in the US and has made a few friends. He is a player and the kind of man who can get to bed with any woman who gives in. When he finds out that Talia is single, he comes to her in an awkward moment and what was once feared brought them together. He knows Talia through their mutual friend, and he is all in when she comes up with the idea of no strings attached relationship with him. Things go on as planned until the two start developing feelings for each other even though they’ve some misunderstandings.
Talia comes from a family that has a lot of expectations of her and the man he dates and marries. Tomas being a blue-collar employee, he’s definitely not the man that Talia’s family would want her to have a relationship with. Talia and Tomas come from very different backgrounds and worlds and don’t match the expectations of society and what they expected to want for themselves. But they can navigate through their differences and make a connection that none of them will be willing to leave.
Their race, class, and cultural differences don’t matter much since such factors never determine love. When Tomas and Talia give in to their attraction, their passion runs out of control, and soon Tomas realizes that he wants to have a serious relationship. The novel explores one’s journey of becoming and respecting one’s real self and recognizing your real-life partner. Talia and Shawna’s instant attraction had them fighting and falling in love with one another simultaneously.
The Arrangement
Leonardo da Silva’s wife, Alexa, left him about four months ago and carried nothing except her clothes. She didn’t want anything belonging to his husband since she isn’t materialistic. Together with her twin brother, she was always taught to work hard and take care of themselves, and they knew what it felt like growing up in a family where both parents fought each day.
When Alexa found herself in the same situation as her parents, she left to have peace of mind and save her heart. She was so much in love with her husband but couldn’t tolerate him after becoming a stranger and a workaholic like her father. All he has ever wanted is to be given attention, held, loved, and spend more time with Leonardo.
Leonardo has been a businessman after taking over his family business. His parents divorced when he was a young boy and relocated to Brazil with his mother, where he even changed his last name to his mother’s maiden name, so he understands the pain of loss, so he tries not to make the mistake his parents did.
One day Alexa comes to her husband for the sake of her brother, who is just about to lose his business. She is asking for a loan that Leonardo is willing to give but on the condition that she moves back to their house for only two months and assumes that everything is okay. She reluctantly agrees with the arrangement and soon begins to wish that the arrangement was permanent. However, after finding out about Leo’s betrayal, can there be a way for them to save their marriage?
