Denise Weimer
Author Denise Weimer has a journalism degree with a history minor from Asbury University.
Besides writing contemporary and historical romance and romantic suspense set in her home state of Georgia, Denise is a managing editor for Smitten Historical Romance and Heritage Beacon Historical Fiction, Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas. This allows her to help other authors realize their own dreams of getting their novels published.
As a mom of two daughters and a wife, she always pauses for chocolate, coffee, and old houses.
Denise has been writing since the age of eleven, back when she would pen endless stories in her spiral-bound notebooks. She would get inspired by the old houses and historical sites that she toured with her parents.
After almost getting her Civil War series published, she put her novel writing on hold while working in public relations, wrote some magazine articles, and started her family. Finally, as her younger daughter took naps and went to preschool, Denise venture to pen a novella. The story wound up losing more money than it actually made, however it still introduced her to her historical mentor. His help with her “Georgia Gold” series landed her a publisher. Actually, a second publisher, since the first one, which was a startup house, fell apart while book one was released.
“Sautee Shadows” is the first novel in the “Georgia Gold” series and was released in 2010. Travel back to a time when the foothills in Northeast Georgia were barely more than a frontier, a summer retreat for the state’s wealthy coastal elite, with verdant watercolor vistas where the Cherokee’s footprint remained. Where one orphaned half-Cherokee girl grows up in a mystery’s shadow. Who murdered her dad, and what happened to that gold that he mined out of the Sautee Valley? And with whom does she truly belong, the adoptive farm family that raised her, or her white innkeeper grandma?
Mahala Franklin is forced out of the only life she has ever known and moulded into her grandma’s idea of a proper young lady and she finds life in Clarksville lonely and filled with challenges. However there are at least some pieces of the puzzle of her past to be fit together, and relationships which will shape her future, like with Clay Fraser, her Cherokee buddy that wants to be so much more, with Jack Randall, competitor and wealthy entrepreneur, with whom she never even dares to dream of more. And with Carolyn Calhoun, an unwilling socialite that is caught between her feelings for two vastly different brothers.
While the lives of the coastal “summer people” mix and mingle with those of Habersham’s natives, this tapestry of friendship, intrigue, and love unfolds. It is a tapestry laced with a brilliant type of thread which will lure you through the rest of this series.
“Fall Flip” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2019. Shelby Dodson’s husband tragically died, and since he was her partner in a successful Home Network house flipping business, it stole status, love, and career from him. Now a bungalow redesign thrusts her right into the company of some new contractor.
Scott Matthews remembers the high-and-mighty Shelby from their high school days, and her contemporary, prissy style goes against his more down to earth grain. When the house reveals this mystery to them, will its dark secrets, as well as their own mistakes, cost them a second chance at love?
“Spring Splash” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2020. When Anna Callaway, a college swimmer, is sidelined due to an injury, her dreams are crushed. She pours herself into her sports marketing practicum, helping out a local special needs organization promote their athletic event. What she never expected is a swim team ripe for the Special Olympics, as well as their handsome yet stubborn coach.
Craig Holt has dealt with ignorant and eager volunteers in the past. No matter how persuasive or determined uptight Anna may be about coaching his team to the Special Olympics, he’s no intention of letting her raise the hopes of his swimmers, his guarded heart, or his sister.
Then Anna gets another chance at becoming a champion. Is she going to pursue her lifelong goals or make room for a new dream?
“Traces” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2020. When a $500,000 prize and a failed romance lure Kate Carson into participating in “Traces”, a reality show, the least she expects is to be picking out her partner. After all, she is the PR spokeswoman of the company which derived a thirteen-lens, rotating camera from military use and installed atop Atlanta’s tallest skyscraper. However she never would have chosen to evade techno hunters with “G. I. Joe” for twenty days.
Alex Mitchell, ex military and stoic, is the type of guy she always vowed she would avoid, as the shadows of his past begin catching up with him to spurn further emotional involvement. When Kate’s insider knowledge makes her a target of somebody much more threatening than some game show hunters, Alex offers her one chance to reveal the dark plans of proponents of The Eye.
“Bent Tree Bride” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2021. Susanna Moore cannot get him out of her mind, that learned lieutenant that delivered the commission from Andrew Jackson making her dad colonel of the Cherokee Regiment. However the next time that she sees Lieutenant Sam Hicks, he is leading a string of prisoners into a frontier fort, and he wears the garb of a Cherokee scout instead of the suit of a white gentleman.
While both Susanna’s dad and Sam’s commanding officer, Colonel Moore could not have made his directive to keep away from his daughter any clearer to Sam. He wants Susanna to have a more suitable match, like that stuffy doctor that escorted her to Creek Territory. Then this suspected spy forces Moore to rely more on Sam for military intelligence and for Susanna’s protection, making it impossible for either one of them to guard their heart.
