Derek DelGaudio is a writer as well as a performer.

Derek is known for being an artist in many different disciplines. He is not only an author but a magician and performer. He is well known for his theater show which debuted to high acclaim, titled “In & Of Itself”. The show was created by DelGaudio and Frank Oz directed. He also worked and co-founded A. Bandit, the performance art collective, with Glenn Kaino, another artist. The collective has had shows called ‘interventions’ put on at all types of places, from Santa Monica’s ‘Art L.A. Contemporary’ to Art Basel Miami to The Ball of Artists, New York’s The Kitchen, and more.

The artist also worked with Glenn Kaino again when the two worked together to create the platform The Mistake Room for situation specific projects. They also would generated ‘The [Space] Between’, which operated as something that they referred to as a ‘conceptual magic shop’. The two would also write a book together using the ‘A.Bandit’ moniker that was titled “A Secret Has Two Faces’. The book would reveal to readers never before told stories from the performers’ careers as well as different interviews revolving around magic and performance art. The book would contain contributions from such figures as David Blaine, Ricky Jay, Marina Abramović, and John Baldessari.

Derek DelGaudio was picked by Walt Disney Imagineering to be their Artist in Residence in 2014. He has been part of various entertainment works for some time, consulting on movie and television projects such as “The Prestige” and “The Carbonaro Effect”. He was also a technical consultant for the television series “Vegas”.

He wrote “Nothing to Hide” a show with Helder Guimarães. The two co-starred and it opened at the Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre off-Broadway in New York City at Pershing Square Signature Center in October 2013.

An adaptation would be made of “In & Of Itself” which carried the same title. It would be directed by Frank Oz and came out in January 2021 on Hulu. Shortly after, his nonfiction book titled Amoralman: A True Story and Other Lies would come out the same year in March.

Derek resides in New York City. He was named the Close-up Magician of the Year by the Academy of Magical Arts in 2011 and 2012. In 2016 he was awarded the title of Magician of the Year by the Academy of Magical Arts. He would go on to receive an Allan Slaight Award for his work on “Sharing Wonder” in 2017. In 2018, he received an award for creative and artistic vision from the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques. He received the Grolla d’oro Award in 2019 and was appointed the Director of Contemporary Conjuring in 2011 by the Conjuring Arts Research Center.
