Devney Perry is an American author that writes contemporary romance novels.

+Biography

Devney would like to think she was a pretty normal child. She knows she was bossy, as her younger brother has reminded her on numerous occasions. She spent a lot of time playing outside as a child.

And she liked to take charge of whatever activities she participated in, whether it was building forts or riding bicycles. Even the winter couldn’t slow her down. There was always a hill somewhere that needed skiing.

But Devney also found the time to read. She has always counted the likes of Nora Roberts, Harper Sloan and Rebecca Yaros amongst her favorites. She will also read anything related to Harry Potter.

But even with her thriving interest in reading, it never occurred to Devney Perry to write. If anything she was more interested in becoming a doctor and she even pursued medicine in college.

She eventually changed her course to economics but even her interest in that arena did not last. The author did not settle down until she entered the tech industry. She was there for ten years. But as her family begun to grow, Devney realized that she yearned to slow down somewhat.

And that is exactly what she did. She cast the conference calls and project deadlines aside in favor of staying home with her children. Her decision to write came completely out of the blue.

There was nothing in her past to suggest that she would pursue a career in publishing one day. But once she wrote the first book in the Jamison Valley series, there was no stopping her. She realized that she had finally discovered her passion and has since become a full-time writer.

+Literary Career

Devney Perry left a demanding job to take care of her children. However, even with the chaos she encountered in attempting to manage and care for her family, Devney grew bored.

She believes it might have had something to do with the many years she had spent in the tech industry dealing with demanding assignments and tight deadlines. Devney thought she wanted to slow down in life.

But once she finally slowed down, she realized that she needed an engaging activity to occupy her mind. The author initially poured all her pent-up energy into reading.

She was reading one or more books a day and, despite the entertainment value of some of the novels that came her way, it still wasn’t enough to keep her engaged. One day, Devney started her computer, opened a word document and began to write.

And once she started writing, she found that she couldn’t stop. A few chapters later, she knew that she had finally discovered her dream job.

Devney Perry’s first novel was ‘The Coppersmith Farmhouse’. She was visiting her father’s hometown (Ennis, MT) one day when she realized the potential the location had as a setting for a novel.

With that foundation in mind, the author began to dream up characters. She let the ideas stew in her mind for a little while before sitting down and putting her story on paper.

Devney’s first draft of her first book was very rough. It took nine months for the author to write and get the book published but the journey was no picnic. Devney Perry did not really know what she was doing at the time.

She produced her first draft in two months and immediately realized how terrible it was. So she began the revision process, editing, and tweaking until ‘The Coppersmith Farmhouse’ took shape.

That first book had the capacity to sink Devney’s career before it even started, especially if she had failed to get it off the ground. The author imputes her success to her editor who showed a willingness to work with her for several long months until her manuscript was properly refined.

But Devney appreciates the struggles she encountered writing that first book because they allowed her to grow. Devney was more of a pantser when she started. She just sat down one day and she began writing whatever came to her.

With the subsequent books that followed, Devney found her voice. She became more of a plotter; now she cannot imagine sitting down without knowing what she is going to write. The author admits that she has a tendency to forget and drop plot threads.

Only by outlining can she properly manage all the various elements of her books.

Devney Perry doesn’t have a typical writing day. She doesn’t have the luxury of falling into a routine because her home is so hectic. The days are very unpredictable and it doesn’t help that her husband is always traveling.

Devney only gets peace of mind when her children go to bed at night at which point she is able to sit down and focus on her writing.

The author gets most of her writing done in the living room. She normally accompanies the process with a glass of wine. When the creative juices begin to dry up, she busies herself with other activities to clear her mind.

+The Coppersmith Farmhouse

Gigi is looking for a fresh start when she moves to a small Montana town and settles into a farmhouse with her daughter. Gigi had to uproot her entire world to start over but she is certain that it will be worth it in the long run. Her only concern is the local sheriff. He might be the most handsome man she has ever seen but he’s also a jerk.

Jess doesn’t think much of women like Gigi. He knows just how scheming and conniving sexy women like her can be. And he doesn’t appreciate that she took the farmhouse, a sanctuary, from him.

It takes Jess too long to realize that Gigi might have gotten under his skin. By then he already made a fool of himself and must fight to win Gigi’s trust.

+The Clover Chapel

Emmeline had big dreams when she went to Prescott, Montana. Excited to escape her father’s thumb, Emmeline left New York and discarded her past as a socialite in favor of becoming a kindergarten teacher in a small town.

She did not expect to find the man who broke her.

Nick last saw Emmeline nine years prior. He never forgot his love for her or the pain he felt when he gave her up for her sake. Nick interprets the arrival of Emmeline in Prescott as a second opportunity for him to find love by winning her heart.
