Diana Biller
Author Diana Biller is enthusiastic about biscuits, sauropods, books, and sloths. And when she’s not busy writing, she enjoys taking “research” trips abroad, attending ballet class, and snuggling her animals.
“The Widow of Rose House” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2019. The year is 1875, and Alva Webster is ready for a new beginning. After three whole years of being pilloried in the presses for fleeing from her abusive husband, his sudden death allows for her to go back to New York where she’s determined to restore this dilapidated Hyde Park mansion, and hopefully her reputation at the exact same time. She is definitely not supposed to fall in love.
However when a haunting at her new home threatens some of these careful plans she’s made, she has to seek help from the brilliant, eccentric, and (much to her own dismay) very handsome Professor Samuel Moore. Alva does not need any further complications in her life, particularly not a scandal raising, convention-flouting one like Sam. But Sam is the only one able to help her, unfortunately. Together, these two delve into the tragic secrets that wreath Alva’s new home as Sam tries unlocking Alva’s history, and her heart.
This is a chemistry fueled debut novel with a bit of ghost story that is great for readers of gothic romance. Biller mirrors Wharton’s own genius for revealing the emotional gold that lies beneath the Gilded Age, which motivates this novel’s massive romantic turmoil. This novel is close to perfection and any lover of historical romance novels is sure to adore this debut novel.
“The Brightest Star in Paris” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2021. She’d never expected for her first love to return to her, however is he here to stay?
Amelie St. James is a fraud. She became “St. Amie”, after the Siege of Paris, the virtuous and sweet prima ballerina the Paris Opera Ballet needed to restore its scandalous reputation all protect the safe life she’s struggled to build for her and her sister. However when her first love reappears looking just as devastatingly handsome as ever, and the ghosts of her past quite literally return to haunt her, and her hard fought safety gets thrown into chaos.
Dr. Benedict Moore has never once forgotten the girl that once helped him embrace life after he almost lost his. And now, years later, he has returned to Paris. His goals are to recruit some promising some new scientists, and possibly see Amelie again. When he learns of her being in trouble, he is desperate to help her out, and hold her in his arms.
When she agrees to let him help her finally, they disguise their time together with this fake courtship. Soon, with the help of this steamy yet ill-advised, some old feelings reignite. Except, their lives are an ocean apart. Are they going to be able to make it out with their hearts intact?
“The Brightest Star in Paris” is a thrilling story about second chances and first loves.
“A Christmas Spark” is the first stand alone novella and was released in 2021. An office romance that is sure to bring cheer to any and every season!
Winnifred cannot believe her luck. She has been hired to work for John Moore (a renowned scientist), which in 1843 is the next best thing to being one herself. She didn’t expect to find, unfortunately, his very presence to be so distracting during their experiments.
John believes that Winnifred Byrne is a disaster of an assistant. She has caused not just one but multiple explosions, and makes a dreadful cup of tea. But she is brilliant, warm, funny, and, making things worse, is probably the most beautiful woman that he has ever met.
While the snow falls and their friendship continues to deepen, one thing becomes apparent: he has met his match in more than one way.
“The Hotel of Secrets” is the third stand alone novel and was released in 2023. During a ball season, anything is possible. Even love.
It is ball season in Vienna, and Maria Wallner just wants one thing: to restore the Hotel Wallner, her family’s hotel, back to its former glory. She is not about to allow for anything to get in the way, not some seemingly random attacks by some masked assassins, not her parents’ three-decade long affair, and definitely not the broad shouldered American foreign agent that has saved her life twice already. Doesn’t matter how luscious the man’s mouth is.
Eli Whittaker also just wants the one thing: to figure out who’s selling American secret codes all across Europe, arrest them all, and return back home to his sensible life back in Washington DC. He’s got a lead: a letter the culprit sent from this Viennese hotel. However when he shows up in Vienna, he’s immediately swept up into this chaotic whirlwind of waltzes, balls, spies, and some beautiful hotel keepers that appear to constantly land themselves in danger. He disapproves of all of it. However his disapproval gets tested while he slows deeper into this chaos, and while his attraction to said hotel keeper grows.
This book is filled with banter-filled shenanigans, must have you kisses, and romance that’s certain to light a fire in the hearts of readers everywhere. Diana delivers an emotionally complex and beautifully researched experience, and is an opulent slice of Viennese tradition that is just as rich as a torte and as layered as a complicated line of Strauss. With danger and intrigue which nips on the heels of its luscious waltz, Diana’s atmospheric and lush escape is dolloped with romance and the complex, deep, and sigh-worthy characters.
Diana, in a novel that is golden and glittering, serves up intrigue, decadence, and deeply emotional love story. She excels at immersive and atmospheric storytelling, with compelling voices that have heart and the right amounts of humor. This is both exciting and tender, and demonstrates exactly why Diana Biller continues being one of the very best authors of historical romance.
