Dianne Harman is American author famously known for her Cedar Bay Cozy Mystery series, Coyote and Teddy Saga series. Now a resident of Huntington Beach in California, Dianne spent over a decade in Sacramento when her husband worked as an assemblyman and then the state senator.

Harman became a published author in 2012 when Blue Coyote Motel, the first book in Coyote series was released.

Blue Coyote Motel

The first book in Coyote series by Dianne Harman is a suspense love story that kicks off in the urban areas of Southern California and expands its reach around the globe in diverse locations such as South America, Provence, and the Himalayas.

The story introduces us to a charming woman named Maria and her husband Jeffrey; a scientist fired from his job as they struggle to establish their new life in the remote areas of Southern California desert as motel owners.

Along with his anti-aging hormone invention, Maria’s husband invents a “feel good drug” to help her deal with her depression. As Jeffrey madness picks up on a whole new level, he begins to experiment his “feel good” drug on other people. Six travelers, including a couple from Brazil, an alcoholic priest, Native American pediatrician, struggling salesman, and depressed widow spent their night in Jeffrey’s motel and waked the next morning feeling good than ever.
Has Jeffrey finally delivered a miracle drug or is this only but the beginning of a nightmare of addiction? Blue Coyote is an intriguing depiction of the human frailties present in everyone.

The author has created two fascinating main characters with lots happening in their lives and takes us honestly through their changing lives while adding some wonderful characters along the way. With all the intricate details and the characters populating the story, the novel does an excellent job at making the reader feel for the characters, even if they are involved in drugs or bend the rules.

As a reader, you get to see where each character in the story comes from and how they connect with each other despite being from different backgrounds.
Told with a great sense of irony and wit, Blue Coyote Motel is a complex and yet engaging read with idealism, romance, some suspense, and more aspects remarkable.

Coyote in Provence

Coyote in Provence is the second book The Coyote series. Ms. Harman has peppered the story with fascinating descriptions of Southern France with its perfect wine vineyards, cobble-stoned streets, and its charming restaurants, shops and small art galleries.

In this novel, Maria Brooks from the Blue Coyote Motel changes her identity to cover her seedy past. Now going with the name Elena Johnson, she tries to blend into the small village in the French countryside.

The small French town is a frenzy of speculation, and the locals find Elena a hard to resist fodder for their gossip. The more the wealthy American widow Elena tries to distance herself from the locals, the more the scandal threatens to unravel her seedy past. The moment Elena accepts a job she doesn’t need in a local bakery, the more the gossips escalate into something big.

Then there is the handsome investigator Jordan Kramer on the trail of an international antique thief. Until the detective met Elena, he believed that having a family would be a hindrance in his travel adventures and his plans to visit all French restaurants. Art, wine and food became his life until the day he met the beautiful Elena.

The second novel in the Coyote series is an excellent read as Dianne Harman continues the adventures of one of her main character, Maria was now known as Elena. It is a beautifully crafted romantic suspense that also incorporates mysterious and thievery Afghan girls. With lively dialogue and believable characters, the author engages the reader from the first page to the last.

Cornered Coyote

Cornered Coyote is a gripping tale that’s as sweet as Ballerina but pugnacious as a Pitbull. The story continues Maria Brook adventures, one which started in Coyote Provence an in Blue Coyote Motel.

This time around, Maria is ready to start her a new life with the handsome investigator Jordan Kramer.

Maria decides to fly back from France back to the United States as advised by her new man, Jordan. However, it turns out to be a fatal mistake for Maria as she ends up arrested and charged with killing her deranged husband, Jeffrey Brook. She admits to killing him but claims that it was in self-defense.
The fact that Maria fled the country almost immediately after killing her ex-husband makes the case against her pretty tough given that the prosecutor is after blood.

After Darya Rahimi, Maria’s business partner discovers that her friend has been arrested; she hires Slade Kerry, a private detective to try and help Maria win the case against her. Slade takes matters to his own hands and hires Brian Meeks a lawyer to help Maria, and the story takes the reader through scenes of Maria’s suffering to the final court trial.

The third novel in the Coyote series is a beautiful read. Harman characters are beautifully woven right from the main characters to supporting cast. Maria Brooks is described as good looking and in the first few paragraphs of the book; the author explains that everyone stares at this beauty. Most of the time, Harman would halt the plot to describe this beauty.

Then there is Jordan Kramer, Maria’s boyfriend an LAPD sent to France to investigate a ring of international antique theft. He is the kind of detective that gets entangled in problems, and he’s at times worried that his parents would never love him like they used to.

Darya Rahimi is Maria’s friend expecting her friend’s return to the United States. She plays a role of helping Afghan orphaned girls by bringing them into the country and giving them opportunities. She also funds Maria’s lawyer and even the entire investigation to help prove Maria’s innocence.

In general, Cornered Coyote plot is lovely; it revolves around a woman returning home to defend herself. The novel marks the last installment in The Coyote series.
