Dolly Alderton is a bestselling British writer, podcast host, and journalist. She has written the Sunday Times bestselling book, Everything I Know About Love. It is the winner of a national award and has been nominated British Book Award and Waterstones Book of the Year Award. The book has gone for more than 20 translations into foreign languages all over the world. Currently, Aldertonis busy writing the next book of her successful writing career. Alderton holds a bachelor of arts degree from Exeter University and a master of arts degree from City University, London. Before deciding to become a writer, Alderton worked as a freelance journalist. She was employed in that field for almost a decade and was required to write features, columns, and interviews for a number of papers and magazines, including The Telegraph, The New Statesman, Esquire, Sunday Times, ES Magazine, GQ, Grazia, Vice, Marie Claire, Elle, Spectator, Stylist, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Evening Standard, Man Repeller, etc. Between 2015 and 2017, Alderton wrote a weekly column for the Sunday Times on dating advice.

From September 2018, she also started writing a general column for the paper. In 2019, Alderton was nominated for the columnist of the year award by BSME. Besides all these, she regularly contributes to features and interviews for the same magazine. Alderton came third in the Cassandra Jane Memorial Prize for women journalists for her 2014 piece on Desert Island Discs. Working as a pair with Pandora Sykes, Alderton hosts a show called The High Low. She also the co-creator of this show, which is a discussion show about pop culture and current affairs. Over the years, it has emerged as the leading women’s podcast in Britain. As a PR stunt for the release of her debut book, Alderton created a mini-series known as Love Stories and broadcast it on her podcast. In this series, she talked about the most defining relationships of her guests. The guests who featured in this mini-series included Stanley Tucci, Sharon Horgan, Vanessa Kirby, and Lilly Allen.

To do more publicity of her first book, Alderton went on a 22-day tour in 2018-2019, which was produced by the Fane Production company. On this tour, Alderton was in conversation with Lauren Bensted about the topics related to the book’s themes. In addition to working in the fields of journalism and novel writing, Alderton has also tried her hand at writing for TV. Currently, she is working on 2 scripts, one of which is the TV adaptation of her first novel and the second one is a comedy/drama for Tiger Aspect. Before Alderton began writing full time in 2015, She was a full-time worker for TV shows. She landed her first job in 2011 for Monkey Kingdom’s Made in Chelsea. This was followed by working in comedy, entertainment development, and structured reality in the same company. Alderton also worked for 3 years at Objective Productions. She was also a script assistant on Fresh Meat’s final series and was required to direct the BTS videos for the entire last series of the show.

Author Alderton has co-written a short film called Anna Island with Lauren Bensted. The two have also co-directed the short film. Ben Woodsmith was the producer of the film. The actors portraying the lead roles included Harry Michell, Alfie Brown, Sia Berkeley, and Jessie Cave. In 2015, this short film was accepted to be shown at The London Short Film Festival. Before that, Alderton and Bensted had worked on a short documentary as well. Between 2016 and 2018, Alderton was involved in writing a weekly newsletter called The Dolly Mail. This newsletter featured pieces written by her and the writers whose works she liked. It could not gain more than 10,000 subscribers. In 2019, Alderton was asked to be one of the judges for The Women’s Prize in Fiction. Other achievements of author Alderton include being featured on the Forbes’ list, Elle List, and being listed on the official fan-club site of The Rod Stewart. Alderton is represented by Clare Conville at the C&W literary agency.
