Donna Augustine is a renowned American writer of fiction, urban fantasy, and paranormal stories. She is credited to have written several mind-blowing novels and series in her career. They include the Karma series, Alchemy series, Ollie Wit series, Born Wild series, Torn Worlds series, Wilds series, Tales of Xest series, etc. Additionally, Augustine has contributed to the series Once Upon Anthologies by working in collaboration with other writers such as Christine Pope, Phaedra Weldon, Annie Bellet, Alethea Kontis, Audrey Faye, Jennifer Blackstream, Anthea Sharp, Yasmine Galenorn, etc. Augustine feels many authors have influenced her writing style and storytelling abilities, including Ilona Andrews, Karen Moning, and Stephen King. She feels indebted to them for creating their wonderful works and allowing her to hone her skills by going through them over the years.

Author Augustine says that the ambition of her life in the earlier days was to own numerous cats and become a cat lady. But, being called crazy for having such an idea and allergies to her family members to cat furs forced her to cut her dream short. She went through self-assessment and realized that it was indeed a very bad idea and thought that she needed to come up with something that would enable her to earn her livelihood as well as provide her joy. Subsequently, she arrived at the idea of writing and making a career in the field of publishing. It seemed quite exciting to her at that time. Augustine was confident enough about her abilities as a writer to see through her days with ease. She began her ambition by combining her love for horror, sci-fi, romance, and fantasy.

Nowadays, Augustine tries to come with exciting twists in the urban fantasy genre and develop her stories accordingly. Author Augustine hails from New Jersey. She still lives there and spends most of her time working on her manuscripts. At times, she is seen scratching her head in an attempt to meet the deadline of her publishers. When Augustine is not busy with her workload, she can be found sipping coffee in the comfort of her home or occasionally visiting the local park for a walk with her dog. She also has three cats, two of which were adopted and the third one was a stray cat that she allowed in her house. Augustine feels the company of her pets helps her relax and this proves quite beneficial for her writing. One beverage that she likes the most is coffee. She takes one cup immediately after waking up and then continues to cherish more cups as and when she likes throughout the day.

Augustine thinks coffee helps her to stay focused and makes her work dedicated. As a reader, Augustine likes to read urban fantasy books very much. Her voracious reading habit helped her get hooked to the genre and now she develops her stories in the same genre. During her free time, Augustine likes to watch TV shows. Some of her favorite ones include Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, and The Walking Dead. Augustine considers herself a classy person and therefore, she likes all things that have class. One such thing is the 1969 Corvette Stingray. It has been her favorite car since her childhood.

The biggest challenge that Augustine comes across while writing a new book is her obsessive need to make every new book better than the previous one. This sometimes causes her writer’s block and forces her to take some time away from writing to come up with interesting new ideas. Augustine’s lead characters are often tenacious, sarcastic, and tough with different traits. A typical writing schedule for her includes writing for the most part of the day. Occasionally, she likes to take a day off, which is mostly on Sundays, but then she ends up feeling guilty about it because she gets bored very easily if she has nothing to do.

Author Augustine likes to think of herself as a normal, quirky woman having an overactive imagination. She has interests in sociology science, and psychology and keeps trying to learn new things every day. Having established herself as a full-time, noteworthy writer makes her feel fortunate. Augustine wishes to continue writing and achieve more success in the days to come. She wants her fans to keep reading her books and support her like always. Augustine credits her success to the love of her followers and is determined to keep writing exciting stories for them one after another.

An exciting novel series penned by author Donna Augustine is known as The Wilds series. It consists of four books released between 2015 and 2016. Augustine has mentioned the central characters in this series in the roles of Dahlia, Dax, Tiffy, etc. The debut novel of this fantasy series is entitled ‘The Wilds’. It was released in 2015 by the Strong Holds Publishing, LLC. This book opens by introducing Dahlia as a Plaguer. She is one of the few who lived through the Bloody Death and hence, she has received the title of Plaguer. When the world was hit by the virus of Bloody Death for the first time, it wreaked havoc on the human race. Dahlia thought that she was fortunate to survive it. But, she realized later that survival always comes at a high cost. Now, she sees strange things and is constantly being hunted by the things she sees in her visions. Some of the strange beings seek Dahlia because they want her to safeguard their secrets. They do not want their truth to come out in the open and prevent the world from knowing what they really are. Some others want Dahlia’s knowledge. One of them is Dax. He holds his own dark secrets and helps Dahlia in evading the Dark Walkers. As long as Dax keeps helping her, she doesn’t mind him keeping his secrets. This book mainly talks about the ones who always said the truth and were marked and branded as liars, hunted, and forgotten.

The second installment is called ‘The Hunt’. It was also released by the Strong Hold publication in 2015. This book shows how difficult it is for Dahlia to live in the Wilds. But, she has found a way to keep herself out of danger. She avoids the beasts so that she does not get eaten by them; keeps herself far from the waterways so that the pirates don’t attack and kill her; and whenever she sees a Dark Walker, she makes sure to stab him to death. After some time, things begin to change and go out of hand. Dahlia learns that the friends of Tiffy were real. Also, she learns about the Skinners for the first time. As her magic begins to lose its power, she sees people disappearing. Dahlia is shocked to know that Dax doesn’t want her to kill Dark Walkers for his own personal reasons. With all this going on, she becomes the most wanted person around.
