Donna McDonald is one of the reputed authors from The United States, who is famous for writing her novels based on the romance, humor, comedy, and science fiction genres. She hails from Vanceburg, Kentucky, and thinks of herself as an active dreamer. Author Donna considers writing as the best way of using her creativity. And she thinks that she needed to satisfy her brain’s both sides, which enabled her to become an author of multiple genres, including romantic comedy, paranormal romances, fantasy, and contemporary. When her books went on to appear on the bestseller lists, she felt blessed as a writer. Donna craves to write laughter for her readers and always keeps herself focused to make that happen very often. She loves to hear from her readers. Considering each one of them as a hero in their own sense, she gains inspiration from them. Author Donna did not attempt to write anything in the first 35 years of her life as she was involved in doing other things to earn her living. And when she finally started writing, she published her debut book in 2011. And after publishing more than 30 novels, she thinks of living her happily-ever-after as a full time author of romance novels. Author Donna often hangs out at local coffee joints for writing her novels. This way, she helps the shop owners in their business. When she is not found sitting in one of the coffee shops, she can very well be seen in her office and doing the same work.
As a writer, Donna wanted to create the worlds in her books from scratch with the help of her creative freedom. Initially, she was more interested in writing about fight scenes, action, and adventure. But, her inner feeling made her include more elements of romance, which can be seen very well in her books. When Donna started writing, she had many writer friends involved in writing, contemporary and romantic suspense books. But, she wanted to explore more. This eventually led her to write science fiction books involving aliens. When the readers started responding positively for her books, it made her happy and satisfied. Over the years of her writing career, author Donna happily admits that she has become addicted. Her addiction has led her deep into writing science fiction and romance genres with genetic engineering and cyborgs. Recently, Donna has also started a new paranormal romance series featuring scientifically made werewolves. Just like all her other books, the novels in this series also contain strong women, sexy men, and lots of humorous elements. One of the most popular romance series written by her is called Never Too Late. The characters in this series are in the form of older people, who are stable, successful, yet on the verge of starting over. The stories show that the things that happen to them, make them change their judgements with respect to life. The characters hate it very much to get older. Often, their loved ones are shown getting cancer. They even end up losing their jobs, but their lives go on somehow. Author Donna has not tried to focus on how the characters handle their trauma, instead she has tried to show how they survive and later find happiness and love. They continue to thrive in spite of the setbacks in their lives. Each of the books of this series revolves around the life of a different set of primary characters.
The first book written by Donna McDonald in the Never Too Late series is entitled ‘Dating A Cougar’. It was released in the year 2011 as a Kindel edition. This book features the lead characters in the roles of Casey Carter and Alexa Ranger. Alexa is introduced into the plot as a lingerie and designer and aging model. She has been looking for her true love for a few decades, but has not found success. So Alexa has now given up. Two years back, she got extremely tired of the whole dating thing and decided to stop doing it. Now, she seems mostly content with her family and friends. But, when she suddenly decides to again have her sex life at the age of 50, everyone becomes shocked. What appears to be more shocking to her close ones is that she gets attracted towards a much younger lover. Alexa Ranger finds Casey Carter very sexy and attractive. He was a Marine, now retired on medical grounds and there is a gap of 12 years between them. Alexa finds it difficult to get pass their age difference. Casey lives with his daughter and her boyfriend. For him, a relationship with much older Alexa Ranger seems out of the question. And Alexa does not want another drama in her life which would turn into a talk show for everyone around. Yet, she craves for Casey’s love and wonders how amazing his kisses would be. The book turns out to be a well written romance and is recommended by many critics for all the lovers of romance books. It seems more of a character study and has a great appeal to it. There is a mixture of romance and humors, which surely make the readers enjoy and keep turning pages until the very end.
The next book in the series is titled as ‘Dating Dr. Notorious’. It was published by Smashwords in the year 2011. Author Donna has described the central characters in this book as Dr. Regina Logan and Ben Kaiser. In the starting scene, Regina Logan is introduced as a successful and famous sex therapist. She seems to have a solution to the love life of everyone, except her own. Usually, men don’t like to date her. They get intimidated by her honesty about the physical matters. Also, the publishings by the press about her dating moves cause problems in her attempts to find love. Regina finds it ironic for a forty seven year old lady like her to have vast knowledge about pleasing men they don’t have much of a lover left in them. And when a nice guy like Ben Kaiser leaves before making it to the bed with her, it doesn’t surprise her. But, she does feel hurt. Ben’s kisses promised her the fulfillment of all her fantasies, but she understands that nice piece like Ben don’t have any space in her crazy and messed up public life. Ben Kaiser lost his wife due to cancer. Being a successful CEO at the age of 50, he decides to have a new woman in his life and so he starts dating. He comes across Regina at a charity event and gets attracted to her. Not knowing that she is the notorious Dr. Regina, he takes her to a nearby garden and starts making out. But, as soon as he comes to know of her identity later, Ben becomes shocked. He tries to run away, but then realized that he has already spent a lot time with her. And because of the negative publicity of Regina, they decide to keep their love life hidden in order to protect the business and reputation of Ben. In the end, Ben decides to get married to Regina secretly, but things take a different turn that neither of them had thought of.
