Meghan Ciana Doidge is a Canadian published author.

Her work has won awards. She resides in Salt Spring Island, a beautiful part of British Columbia located in Canada. She is married to her husband Michael. Together they have a huge variety of pets that includes chickens, two cats, and a turtle.

She is known for writing the Adept Universe which includes many series including the Dowser series. This universe also includes Misfits of the Adept Universe, the Amplifier, the Reconstructionist, and the Oracle. She enjoys love stories that are a bit bloody, anything that can be considered supernatural, and superheroes. Her favorite things include potatoes, chocolate, sock yarn, and cashmere.

Ciana Doidge has written, produced, and directed four shorts. Of these four, she also edited three. They are the 2010 short Another Brief Moment, the short Jilted which came out in 2005, the 2005 short Josephine?, and the 2004 short Din.

Ciana Doidge is also the author of the novellas The Graveyard Kiss and Love Lies Bleeding.

Doidge is the creator and the author of the Dowser series. This series of fictional novels started in 2013 with the debut book and just kept on going! This urban fantasy has multiple novels in it so if you are looking for something quirky and a bit outside of the normal regular reading routine, then be sure to check this series out.

Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic is the first novel in the Dowser series by Meghan Ciana Doidge. In this book readers get to meet the character of Jade for the first time.

She is half human and half a witch and has other talents. These include her skills with baking, which is precisely the reason why she has opened up her own bakery right in Vancouver. She has been living in the backwater of this city, although a magical one, for twenty-three years, and admits that living in the same place for such a long time has given her a sense of reality that may be a bit skewed.

Her favorite type of cupcakes to make and eat are the dark chocolate type that are covered in a rich icing of chocolate cream cheese. Even though she is a witch, she doesn’t think that she is anywhere near as powerful a witch as her grandmother is. When it comes to Jade, she’s content to just run the bakery and utilize the magic solely when she needs to. In between she’ll create her own trinkets.

However, she does have the ability to be a dowser. She can pick up on magic from others and track it. She also uses the trinkets that have residual magic left in them and makes them into art and necklaces. Things are going fairly well until vampires and werewolves come into play. Then everything that she knows as normal starts to unravel.

Just like that, her peaceful life is turned entirely upside down. Can Jade figure out what’s going on before it’s too late? Or is Vancouver about to be forever changed? Find out by reading this book!

Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic is the second book in the Dowser series. Jade has been through a lot. First she lost Sienna, her beloved foster sister, to darkness. The type of darkness that comes with the chaos of blood magic, which involved a bunch of mayhem that absolutely no one saw coming. But by then, the damage was done and it was already far too late.

Jade blames herself for not seeing what she thinks she should have seen earlier. As a result, she’s been totally devastated by the loss. Her soul and her heart are wounded and she doesn’t want to show it to any person that is near her. This is partly because she is supposed to have a hatred of Sienna that is justified, which she does.

However, without her foster sister in her life, she just feels lost. At this point in her life, she feels so uncertain about where she is going and the path that she is on that she doesn’t even know what to do. Besides that, the Adepts that are always by her side recently seem to be in a level far above her own.

Jade is not certain if they’re there to provide protection or simply because the powers that she has are that valuable. She’s not even at the point that she knows who she is or what she is doing. She’s not even certain how her magic works. Though she’s used to relying on chocolate to help her through things, it can’t be there to fix every problem in her life.
