Duane Boehm
Duane Boehm has been playing guitar since he was ten years old and began writing songs during his teen years.

Early on in life, he developed his love for westerns. He fondly remembers watch “Gunsmoke” and “Bonanza” with his grandfather. He could empathize with Little Joe in dealing with all of that curly hair. From these early days, he found his calling as a writer of western novels.

Duane grew up on a farm just outside of Petersburg, Illinois. All that time spent driving a tractor gave him plenty of time to allow his imagination to run wild and not tear up too much equipment. Besides a love of westerns, the two passions he acquired were the love of reading books and playing guitar.

For a number of years he worked as an IT consultant and kept being a songwriter and part time musician. He dabbled in writing short fiction with the idea in the back of his mind that he’d write a novel someday.

He was always a huge reader and one Christmas after watching “A Christmas Carol”, he was inspired to write “In Just One Moment”, his first novel. Since that time, his westerns have become Number 1 Bestseller in their genre.

“Last Stand” is the first novel in the “Gideon Johann Western” series and was released in 2014. Gideon Johann had been away from Last Stand, Colorado for eighteen years, seeming to have disappeared once the Civil War ended. He’s a man running away from his conscience and staying on the move seems to be the only thing that prevents it from ruining him.

Rumors of his whereabouts sometimes reach all the way to Last Stand, however nobody from there had seen or heard from him since the war, which leaves both the girl he left behind and his best buddy with a chapter of their lives unresolved.

Things change in Last Stand once a stranger is discovered shot and close to death. The realization that the guy is Gideon sets in motion love, old grudges, and an opportunity for redemption.

“Where the Wild Horses Roam” is the first novel in the “Wild Horse Western” series and was released in 2017. Caleb Berg is wanted by the law in Tennessee. The young widower is forced to leave his sister and parents behind in order to begin a new life in the wide open west. His adventures along this trail lead him to this horse ranch out in the Wyoming Territory.

Caroline Langley, after those Indians killed her pa, took the family’s horse ranch over. The young woman, who was bitter from losing her dad and divorcing her unfaithful husband, has got her hands full after this one cattle rancher is determined to rid the open range of the mustangs.

Caroline and the rest of her crew find themselves in this fight to save the ranch, if Caleb and Caroline don’t succeed in killing each other first. The two of them may just find out they’re attracted to one another if they could only move on from the burdens of their past. Sometimes a second chance is all that’s needed.

“Where the Wild Horses Roam” combines with western action with historical romance for a fresh new read.

“What It All Comes Down To” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2018. Jude Meisner makes a living with a gun. His job is his life, since he is a loner. The only creed that Jude lives by is to only take work from those that are being persecuted by the corrupt men of this world. When an old friend from the war, named Eli, needs some help with a ruthless rancher, he rushes to Eli’s aid.

While Jude tries protecting Eli and the ranch, he is forced to face his past, too, all as Eli’s family and this spitfire of a saloon girl disrupts his way of life. Can Eli and Jude survive and save this ranch, and if Jude does live, is he going to just ride away, right back into his former way of life, and leave behind all of the good things which have come his way?

“Hand of Fate” is the first novel in the “Hand of Westerns” series and was released in 2019. As the ranchers around the Trinidad are circling like vultures in wait for Flannery Vogel to fail, the downtrodden widow with one young daughter refuses to surrender while struggling to run the ranch which cost her husband his life.

The arrival of Boone Youngblood, her husband’s old buddy from his days as a Texas Ranger, sets the wheels in motion which will change the lives of three families forever. Grudges will be settled, battles will be fought, and possibly, Boone and Flannery are going to find a chance for happiness and new beginnings.

“Never Too Old” is the first novel in the “Never Too Old Westerns” series and was released in 2019. Gabriel Wolff (who is an infamous retired gunman) has plenty of time on his hands, and has started taking stock of his life. His soul searching has led him to start having regrets about the decisions that he made during his past.

When the mayor of a wild cattle town in Kansas recruits him to be their city marshal, he sees his opportunity to rewrite his own legacy. He soon learns that reputation is only going to carry him so far in corralling the outlaws and cowboys which frequent Crystal City.

One young deputy filled with bravado, an easy on the eyes and sassy saloon keeper also have him stepping into some unfamiliar territory. While he starts rewriting his narrative, he finds that not only has his own story change, but he has as well. Trouble is that he may just die before he is able to tame this town and enjoy this new life he’s made.

A frolicking western which explores an aging man’s life who hopes to right the wrongs from his past.

Duane has written another western with enough love, humor, heartbreak, and outlaws to keep you turning the page to see what happens next.
