The Duchy of Terra book series is a wonderful series of space opera, science fiction, fantasy, and military fiction stories. It is written by a renowned Canadian writer named Glynn Stewart. The series is a trilogy of books released between 2016 and 2017. Each of the three novels of this series is widely popular. They are well known for their exciting settings, mind-blowing characters, excellent plots, and wonderful stories. After the worldwide success of this series, Glynn followed it up with a sequel series called the Light of Terra series. Author Glynn Stewart has set the Duchy of Terra novels in the fictional world of Terra. She has described this world as the one where humans take shelter after Earth gets conquered by alien forces. The stories show how the survivors battle against all odds to keep themselves safe and away from all harm.

Some of the essential characters mentioned in the books by Glynn Stewart include Annette Bond, Atol Imperium, Jean Villeneuve, and a few others. Annette Bond is depicted in the role of a Captain who commands a modern spaceship called Tornado. She follows the orders from the Chief of Operations at the United Earth Space Force, Admiral Jean Villeneuve. The Tornado is built by Nova industries and is equipped with interface missiles, new generation lasers, a hyperdrive system, and special armor. Annette and Jean are shown as not being on good terms with each other. The reason for this is that Jean headed the panel that decided to dismiss Annette from UESF.

After taking the Tornado under her command, Annette goes for a round in space and then arrives at the headquarters of UESF to come face to face with Jean Villeneuve and destroy UESF forever. But, before she could do that, it is learned that some disturbing signals have been picked by the research facility, hinting at a possible alien attack. So, Jean asks Annette to think again about her decision to destroy UESF and offers her rejoin the facility as her expertise is much required in such testing times. After a lot of thinking, she decides to join hands with UESF again with the condition that Jean must watch her back all the time no matter what the situation is. Jean agrees to her condition and they become a team of admiral and captain again to fight the aliens. Author Glynn Stewart has set this series in the 22nd century.

The debut book of the Duchy of Terra series written by author Glynn Stewart is entitled ‘The Terran Privateer’. It was released in 2016 by the Faolan’s Pen publication. The book opens by showing that the Earth has been conquered and the Solar system has been lost. There are some survivors who have their last hope with the spaceship sent to free them from captivity. This spaceship, Tornado, is commanded by a captain named Annette Bond, who is determined to go to any lengths to save the innocent people and succeed in her mission. When the aliens conquered Earth, they also destroyed the UESF. It is the same organization that Annette Bond was once part of before going into exile with her hyperspace cruiser because of her dismissal by a UESF panel. But, after the destruction of UESF, its admiral decided to reinstate her with the hope that she can help to fight against aliens and force them to free Earth.

Annette does not have advanced technology. She doesn’t even have updated maps and has no idea who her enemy is. In spite of all this, the galactic society is ready to welcome her because she has all that is expected from a dedicated captain. But, for Annette, things are not what they appear to be because she has allies in the form of slavers and pirates. Annette’s worst nightmare is becoming what she has vowed to destroy. If such a thing happens, she fears that she might not have anything to live for. Everything about her would go to waste. So, she puts her mind straight and prepares to fight against the deadly enemy and succeed in one more mission.

The second installment of this series is known as ‘Duchess of Terra’. It was also published by the Faolan Pen Publishing in 2017. This book features the lead characters in the form of Atol Imperium, Annette Bond, and Jean Villeneuve. The novel opens by mentioning that after Terra knelt in front of the alien forces, it ensured the safety of the surviving humans and guaranteed their future. But now, the enemies are again coming to cause them harm and it is up to one person who can make all the difference and save them. In order to preserve the survival of humanity and ensure its freedom in the hostile galaxy, Captain Annette Bond chose to tie her world to the Imperium. By doing so, she became Terra’ Duchess and received the power to be the ruler of humanity on behalf of the Imperium. Now, Annette Bond is equipped with modern ships, the best form of technology, and money by the grace of the Atol Imperium. She is asked to use all these resources for uplifting Terra’s new Duchy and enjoy a powerful rule. However, there are certain strings attached that seem to cause problems for her and humanity.

Later, when Annette Bond comes to know about the sinister plan of the Imperium for Terra, she comes up with her own tricks to prevent the Imperium from wreaking havoc and disturbing peace. With an ample amount of time in her hand, Annette takes up the task of building a place for the Earth in the galaxy. But, new obstacles arise in her path when her enemies learn about her plan. They come together as one big force and lay an attack on Terra. As much as Annette hates violence and disruption of peace, she now faces the daunting task of battling the enemies and saving Terra from complete destruction.
