E.J. Mellow is an author of fictional novels known for specializing in science fiction and fantasy.

As is sometimes the case, the author found herself growing up in a home where she was surrounded by other artists that also happened to be related to her. She had three other sisters that it seemed like she was constantly surrounded by. Together you could often find them outside of the house, going around and adventuring through the trees in a small grove that was close to where they lived.

E.J. loved playing there with her sisters and using their imagination to come up with fun games. They could be anything that their imaginations desired, from wild horses to wolves. There they were able to get away from the foes that surrounded them and did their best to avoid being captured by their enemies.

Today E.J. Mellow still allows herself to play in the land of make believe. She is not just using her imagination to play with her sisters in many games anymore but to light up the pages with writing that is lyrical and imaginative, creating vibrant stories that are set in worlds that readers are simply swept away into.

The author is married. She shares a son with her husband, and the family lives in the state of Colorado.

E.J. Mellow is the author of The Dreamland series. This series of fictional novels first began with the publication of the debut novel The Dreamer in 2015. The novel would be followed by another book,titled The Divide. The Dreamer is the first story to come out in The Dreamland series by author E.J. Mellow. The book has been lauded by readers and critics alike, and has not escaped notice for awards. It earned a silver for the category of best fantasy or science fiction story from the eLit Book Awards. The Dreamer also received a nod for best cover design, and was awarded a Finalist Medal from The Next Generation Indie Book Awards.

Main character Molly is 24 years old, but she knows that her sleep has been totally disrupted ever since her birthday night. It could have something to do with the fact that she was hit by a random bolt of lightning, but does that really contribute to insomnia or is she just overthinking it?

Molly casts her mind back through various details of her day, trying to understand where it all went wrong. The chicken that she had at dinner could have been under cooked to the point of causing her to just not be able to get a good night’s rest. But then again, she didn’t really have any other symptoms of food poisoning and lack of sleep is also not one of them as far as she knows.

She has no idea what’s causing the lack of shut eye, but she knows that she wishes it would stop. But life is about to get a lot more involving when she goes to sleep. Instead of having the typical lack of dreams, she instead finds herself in what appears to be some type of dream that takes her to a land that she does not recognize. Every night, she goes to this mysterious place, which is entirely lit up by shooting stars sailing through the sky.

It’s a magical place, but is she dreaming or is it real? Molly is determined to find out. While there one night, she encounters a man named Dev, a guy that is as frustrating to be around as he is engaging. When they’re together one night, they both find out that she has a power that his people think is valuable.

She apparently can make anything she wants come into being through conjuring. Molly is immediately drawn in by this idea and once she starts thinking about this gift and what it could make possible, she turns entirely towards her dream world and Dev as well as the magic, moving her attention from the life she lives while waking entirely.

However, Molly has to wonder about the reality of this place. If it’s only there once you close your eyes at night and go to sleep, can it be considered real? Or is that just the way to get to it? Will she lose herself in this world that is ultimately fictitious, a figment of her imagination? Or is there more to it than that?
