Elaine Manders is a bestselling historical romance novelist who writes works that intrigue and inspire readers. The author was born in rural South Georgia in a very small one-street town that was characterized by strong family ties, Christian values, and community spirit.

After graduating from college, she started work at a huge AF base, where she was a government accountant. During this time, she also got married but would later divorce. Her later life would become very busy as she was a single mother trying to move up the ranks of a corporate career.

While she had always had stories running through her mind, it never occurred to her to write down anything. It was when her mother died and her daughter got admitted to college that she got to a turning point.

She got her start in writing by working for a Christian publication where she wrote feature articles before getting into fiction in 1992. Manders published “Adela’s Prairie Suitor,” her debut novel in 2015, and has never looked back since.

She now has more than a dozen novels across four series to her name and has also contributed to several series.

After Elaine Manders completed a two-year creative fiction writing course she joined a local writers group. It was at this time that she began working on her debut which was a saga with an Austrian setting during the Napoleonic Wars.

The unpublished work was what showed her how to write real romance as a meeting of hearts rather than a series of relationships. Manders started praying that God would give her just that kind of relationship. It was from her thinking of romance that she started looking for a soul mate.

While she conducted research into some aspects of her novels, she heard that a horse show about Lipizzaner horses was visiting town. Still, she hated driving in the city and she did not have any friends or family that wanted to see horse shows. But then she remembered that she had an acquaintance that happened to like horses.

They had gone out on several dates and thankfully, he agreed to take her to the show. He was fascinated with her writing and particularly the romance novel that she was then writing.

Six months later, the love birds got married and they were together for 23 years. He would become the biggest inspiration and salesman for her novels.

When Amazon launched Kindle Publishing, Elaine Manders jumped at the chance to publish her works. She had never liked the control and demands that traditional publishers wanted from new authors.

Her first published work consisted of three mail-order bride short fiction works that were part of the “Annex Mail-Order Brides” series of novels. These were a prequel to the “Intrigue under Western Skies” series of novels.

She has since then become quite a popular author with several series to her name. So far her most popular work has been “The Duke’s Dilemma,” the second novel of the “Wolf Deceivers” series of novels.

Most of Elaine’s novels are on a Christian theme, even though she is known for not repeating themes. They also typically include romance and suspense elements. She has asserted that she usually writes to bring glory to God and to entertain and inspire her readers.

Elaine Mander’s novel “Adela’s Prairie Suitor” is a Christian romance novella with a Victorian-era setting. The lead is a western mail order bride named Adela Mason who is among many other young women attending Harvard Annex.

Most of her colleagues are there to advance the status of women and get a quality education. However, all Adela wants is a home of her own with her husband.
She has been corresponding with Kansas farmer Byron Calhoun for a few months and she believes that he could be the man that God had kept for her. She has recently agreed to go to his farm where he can get the chance to court her properly.

Byron thinks she is a charming and sweet woman from her letters but he is not so sure she will agree to marry him when she learns that he may just lose his farm. Even worse, his mother and former fiance are doing everything to make Adele reject him.

Part of the prequels to the “Under Cerulean Skies,” the work follows the life and times of three courageous women hoping to find love through the mail.

In Ramee’s “Fugitive Cowboy” by Elaine Manders we are introduced to Ramee Abbot, a woman who is attending the Harvard Annex.
She has become acclaimed as a dress designer that a textile tycoon has taken notice of. She never realized how despicable the man was and only realized his treachery much later.

Ramee is informed that the man had given her an ultimatum to marry him following his selling of her designs as her own. He has threatened that if she does not marry him, he will ensure that she is socially ruined. Given that he knows too much about her she is forced to leave town as the threat is too real.

She scans the mail order brides’ ads and is intrigued by a cowboy named Josh Volker who recently bought a ranch near Sacramento, California. He is a man that recently became a Christian and turned his life around even though his reputation as a bad boy continues to haunt him.

This is the reason no reasonable woman will marry him. On his part, he is done with drifting and wants to settle down and develop his ranch with a suitable wife.
He never expected to get the interest of a prospective bride and certainly not someone as talented and as pretty as Ramee. But she is so desperate that he thinks she may be harboring her own dark secrets.

Elaine Mander’s novel “Prudie’s Mountain Man” is the story of Prudie Walsh, a graduate of Harvard Annex. At the opening of the novel, she has just lost her family’s merchandising business and her home.

Scanning the ads for mail order brides she finds a dry goods store owner named Erich Stafford. Erich had as a child been scarred when he was attacked by a cougar attack and as an adult has spent much of his time in the Wyoming mountains as a hermit.

When he inherited a dry goods store in Bent Fork, a prosperous frontier town, he left his mountain hideout to go take his prize. During this time he made contact with a mail order bride as he needed someone to help run the new business he just inherited.

It is not long before he realizes that the ambitious and beautiful Prudie has her own scars. It will take a lot of faith and patience to make their precarious arrangement into something tangible.
