John Gaspard is an American author of fiction. He has written several books of fiction as well as many nonfiction books on the topic of low-budget filmmaking that has ironically made him more than the actual films did. He resides in Minnesota in a home that he shares with not only his lovely wife but a lot of dogs, a few cats, and some pet allergies that flare up from time to time.

He keeps a bog on Blogspot which is titled ‘Fast, Cheap Movie Thoughts” which can be found at fastcheapmoviethoughts.blogspot.com. Readers and filmmakers have found it interesting and it has also been promoted and critically approved, being recommended as one of 50 best blogs for moviemakers as well as one of 100 best blogs when it comes to students of film and theater. Gaspard has written for the stage and television as well.

He is the author of the Eli Marks series. The Eli Marks series is a fictional series created by Gaspard that focuses on the main character, who makes a living working as a magician. However, Eli always seems to run into trouble and murder is never too far away in this engaging murder-mystery series from Gaspard.

The Ambitious Card is the debut novel in the Eli Marks series by John Gaspard. Some people may think that it’s all fun and games to be a magician, but the truth is that a magician’s day to day routine isn’t always children’s birthday parties and doing fun sleight of hand with card tricks. Perhaps other magician’s lives are like that, but Marks is not your typical magician.

Eli Marks gets into trouble first when he dares to debunk a famous psychic– and does so publicly. It seems harmless enough, but things start to get a bit tricky when the psychic in question is found dead. You would think that Eli would be uninvolved considering his only connection to the psychic was publicly proving they were a fraud.

Unfortunately for the magician, there turns out to be evidence at the scene that directly implicates him. The body is found with a King of Diamonds card that is covered in blood. It also happens to be one of the cards from Eli Marks’ trademark Ambitious Card routine. This means that the police find that they have a lot of questions for Eli, who is now the prime suspect.

When more psychics turn up dead, the police know that they are dealing with a serial killer. The only problem is that Eli knows he didn’t kill anyone unless he had some type of sleepwalking killing spree (which would likely be unsuccessful). To top things off, the same cards that were found with the first victim are turning up on each of the bodies. It is not looking good for Eli.

Eli has enough to deal with and is trying to make a living, but all of this controversy is starting to really get to him. You would think that Eli would have had enough of dealing with psychics, and he has. But things start to get even more complex when sparks start flying between Eli and a gorgeous woman that also happens to be a psychic.

The magician is in for a shock when he finds out that not only is his romantic interest going to be the next one targeted for murder, he is also targeted to be the next victim and they are meant to die together. Not exactly the Romeo and Juliet ending that Eli wants to participate in. Now Eli Marks is forced to use all of his skill and every single one of the tricks that he has up his sleeve if he is going to keep the two of them alive and find the killer while he’s at it and end this once and for all.

Can Eli avoid becoming the next victim of this serial psychic killer and protect the woman that he is rapidly falling for in the process? Will he be able to track down the killer and get them put away behind bars in the end? You’re going to have to pick up The Ambitious Card by John Gaspard in order to find out for sure!

The Bullet Catch is the second book in the action-packed Eli Marks series by acclaimed author John Gaspard! If you loved the debut novel, you will love this second installment in the series that reunites the readers with magician Eli Marks.

Eli tried to go after love, but it didn’t work out. Now he’s newly single and back on the market once more. This being the case, he has to decide whether or not he wants to attend his high school reunion in this state. Against his better judgment, he decides to go to it. But once he’s there, Eli quickly discovers that he probably should have skipped the reunion after all.

Eli quickly finds that he is involved in two incidents with his former classmates– and both of them prove to be deadly. The first thing that happens is to the husband of an old high school crush Eli had. He is mugged and the incident turns tragic when it becomes a fatal encounter. The second incident to go down is related to the first; the man’s business associates also wind up dead. Could this be coincidence or something more?

The reunion isn’t all bad. He ends up being able to help out a classmate out. The former student is now a movie star and he has fears that his last performance may be coming up. He’s shooting a movie soon that will feature his attempt to do the famous Bullet Catch trick.

People start dying left and right, and before Eli knows what’s going on, he’s caught up in another series of killings. Now he must put aside being a magician and instead turn his talent to trying to figure out what these victims have in common– even if it’s only their killer.

Eli Marks must also watch out because if he isn’t careful, he’ll be next. If he can catch the killer, it may just be the greatest trick he’s ever done. What will happen? Pick up the exciting second novel in the Eli Marks series by John Gaspard to find out.
