Elizabeth Barrett is an American Author. She was born and raised in small town Connecticut and as a child played the piano and read everything that she came across. In high school Elizabeth took a job at a local bookstore. While working there discovered romance novels and devoted as much time as she could reading them. During summers she worked as a guest student at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, and studied biology in her undergraduate before going to law school. After graduating from law school, Elisabeth worked for a decade as a patent attorney specializing on both prosecution and biotechnology litigation. She started writing fiction and in time established herself as an author. Elisabeth Barrret is the author of The Star Harbor Series, The West Coast Holiday Series and the Return to Briarwood Series. She spends her time writing sexy contemporary romance, editing, teaching, and relaxing with her family. She also likes to bake sweet things, sing in grand choruses, grow orchids, and hike open space preserves. Elisabeth lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and three children.

Once and Again is the first book of the Return to Briarwood series. This is a story of forbidden love, broken vows and second chances. As a young debutante Carolyn Rivington grew up in Eastbridge , Connecticut, and did everything her parents asked of her. When her father demanded that she breaks off her relationship with her boyfriend from the wrong side of the track or else, she complied. Now her family is deep in debt and she is no longer a member of the Briarwood Golf and Yacht Club. Carolyn now works there and the tattooed, tanned and dangerously good looking stranger who saunters Carolyn into her lobby is not just her new boss, he is also Carolyn’s first love. Jake Gaffney last saw Carolyn from the back of a police cruiser, in handcuffs and humiliated. Seeing her again rekindles other memories: the two of them on a blanket in the beach, with the moon above their heads, enjoying the most expensive wine he could afford. She was rich then and he was from the wrong side of the track, but the tables had turned now. Jake Gaffney is a real estate magnate and is the new owner of Briarwood, he doesn’t answer to anybody. But now that he is home again, Jake is finding it difficult to live down his old reputation, and so before they can move forward he and Carolyn must face their pasts. However, it will take more than chemistry for the two of them to heal old wounds and return to the love they shared then. The book opens in the entranceway of the Briarwood Golf and Yacht Club as Carolyn Rivington keeping her voice low and polite, inquires from a big, dark haired man with mirrored sun glasses how she can help to him. The man just growls a no and leaves. Throwing unwanted guests out of the Club was not part of her job description, but Carolyn was good at it, and the more ways she could make herself useful at the Club, the less the chances of losing her job and Tammi had begged her to do it. Carolyn glances at the front desk and sees Tammi Porter sitting there wide eyed with desperation written all over her face. Carolyn savors the scene as she wonders where the man could be from. Eastbridge, Connecticut, in the center of Fairfield County was a very conservative place and she is sure this man is not from there. He is tanned and tattooed, and very good looking. She was sure he is not on the members list and that his reasons for being there were unlikely to be legitimate. Were he a contractor he would have made an appointment, and if he had been an employee of the Club then he would have used the staff entrance. Carolyn doesn’t see a wedding band on his figure which she takes to be an indication that he is not married. This leaves her wondering as Youngish, single men usually don’t join Clubs like Briarwood. The man lifts a section of one long, taupe drape and rubs it between his fingers as if to test its weight. The man doesn’t seem to care what kind of scene he is causing and Carolyn decides to approach him for a second time. She repeatedly calls him ‘Sir’, and the man pauses for a brief moment, and then turns showing her all his dangerous good looks! She steels herself and tells him that Briarwood is a private Club and no one is allowed in without a membership card. If he is interested in joining the he should review the Clubs website and familiarize himself with the membership requirements. Carolyn offers him her business card. After along pause the man takes the business card Carolyn was offering him and he reads her name in a gruff tone. Carolyn tries to talk to him but the man remains silent. Carolyn’ immediate boss appears and talks to Carolyn under his breath. She departs and leaves her boss with the stranger in the hopes that the boss will evict the intruder!

The Best of Me is the second book of the Return to Briarwood Series. Jane Pringle is a single mother of a little boy and had had no intention of falling in love with her boss. After getting a job as a pastry chef at the exclusive Briarwood Golf and Yacht Club, Jane had just wanted to keep her son in a good school district and find some peace and quiet, away from her abusive former husband. However, Jane’s well laid plans go awry when her charismatic co worker at Briarwood takes an interest in her in the sweetest manner possible. Preston North is rich, handsome, and the grandson of one of the most powerful men in New York. Preston hasn’t lived the charmed life people seem to believe he has; his family had taught him all he needed to know about betrayal and he has had enough of it, what he really wants is Jane. He finds Jane to be kind, selfless and strong. To gain her trust, Preston just needs to lose his playboy reputation. Press and Jane have both been burned in the past, and they have to choose between following their hearts and letting their fears get the best of them.
