Elizabeth Jennings is an American author that writes suspense, romance and poetry. Jennings lives in Matera in Italy with her family. When she isn’t writing, she is organizing writers conferences designed to cater to the needs of writers, editors, and agents.
+Biography
Elizabeth Jennings has been writing since she can remember. And everyone who knows her can attest as much. She was always that one student in the class who, rather than listening to the teacher, talking, or dozing off, kept a novel on her lap that she would glance at every chance she got.
Jennings was such an avid reader that it even affected her eyesight as a growing teenager. But the author doesn’t think she was to blame for the addiction. After all, Jennings lived right next to the county library.
That meant she had access to all the books she could possibly want, and at no point did she deny herself the opportunity to consume the written word, especially when all she needed to access her favorite books was a library card.
Despite her thirst for books, it wasn’t always obvious that Elizabeth Jennings would become an author. She knew that it was her dream to make it in publishing, but as a young child, she did not truly believe she could achieve that particular dream.
And she had to worry about putting food on her table. So she carved a path out for herself on the employment landscape. One of the author’s biggest challenges came in her late teens.
She left her home in Central Oregon and moved to Florence in Italy. The culture shock was eye-opening for Jennings. It took her years to adapt to her new home. And she believes she came out a far better person.
She learned the language of Florence. She learned to engage its people and she eventually got herself a job as an interpreter at a school. While the author only took the job for the financial rewards it offered, Jennings admits that the work did more to prepare her for a life in publishing than anything else.
Jennings spent some time as a lawyer and that obviously helped. But it was the interpreter work that impacted her life the most. And she also enjoyed immensely. She had to travel to new places to do her work.
Interpretation requires a keen ear that can catch all the nuances of an individual’s vocabulary, not to mention determining the hidden meanings behind words based on the person’s tone or register.
Jennings will not downplay the stressful nature of her job. He work was difficult. But it allowed her to gain an impeccable grasp of the language. She also learned to understand the personalities, characters, and motives of people based on their choice of words.
Without knowing it, Elizabeth Jennings was walking the difficult road to publishing success. Though, the author does admit that she got to her destination a little later than most.
As with most aspiring authors, life kept getting in the way of Jennings’ dreams. She got married at a late age and settled down in a small Italian town called Matera. Then she gave birth to her first child at the age of 40.
It was here when Elizabeth Jennings felt like she was finally settled in life that she sat down and decided to take a real crack at fulfilling her writing dreams. Jennings always flocked to suspense, mystery and romance novels. So it was only natural that she would target those genres.
Jennings went online and began figuring out what she needed to do to get published. Joining the Romance Writers of America turned out to be a great boon for her because she was able to access a litany of resources that showed her how to write her first novel, find agents and make submissions to publishers.
The author began writing her first novel in 1991. She wasn’t very good at it and she was fortunate to have friends who told her just how bad that first book was. The experience showed Elizabeth Jennings the importance of having feedback for one’s literary works.
So she joined a critique group and began to carry out rewrites. She kept rewriting, making submissions and receiving rejections. Her big break came in 1998. A Kensington editor came across one of her manuscripts and loved it.
Not only did she get it published but she also bought the five other books Jennings had to offer at the time. Within a period of a few months, Elizabeth Jennings was a professional author with half a dozen published books to her name.
She never looked back. Jennings has written books under the Lisa Marie Rice pen name.
+Pursuit
Heiress Charlotte Court lived a life of privilege. But then came a shocking betrayal and an unbelievable accusation. With her father dead, Charlotte had no choice but to flee from the home of her childhood, crossing the border to Mexico where she must now live under a new identity.
Matt Sanders is a Navy SEAL and he has sworn to protect Charlotte. Matt has demons in his past, complications that have given him a yearning to protect the vulnerable woman he meets in Mexico.
But Charlotte has been burned before and she cannot afford to have her trust betrayed again, not when she has a ruthless killer on her trail.
Pursuit is a suspense romance novel from Elizabeth Jennings that tells the story of an alpha hero who must protect a strong, independent woman. Robert Haines takes center stage as the villain, a man who killed Charlotte’s father for his money and then framed his daughter for the crime.
+Shadows at Midnight
Claire Day was a Defense Intelligence Agency Analyst and everyone knew she was going places. But then a bombing of the American Embassy in West Africa changed everything. Twelve months later, Claire is struggling to rebuild her life. She will need the help of Daniel Weston to solve the mysteries haunting her dreams.
Weston was a Marine Gunnery Sergeant who tried and failed to protect Claire. He thought she was dead and, as such, he is more than a little shocked when Claire walks back into his life asking for help.
Weston is determined to keep her safe even as she wades into dangerous waters in her efforts to unlock her lost memories.
