About Elizabeth Johns
The British author Elizabeth Johns is well known for writing regency romance novels, appealing to readers from around the world. Drawing inspiration from writers such as Jane Austen, she’s a gifted novelist with a lot to say, and is skilled at creating a unique turn of phrase. Looking to entertain her readers whilst providing a clear articulate message through her work, she really understands the form. Setting herself apart from other writers within her field, she really manages to establish a tone that’s entirely different from anything else on the market.
Taking her audience on a journey, she transports them to a time in the past, allowing them to experience it as it actually was. She does this through paying close attention to detail and really researching her subjects both inside as well as out. This has seen her become a household name for many around the world, resonating with readers regardless of their background.
Creating long lasting characters too, Johns also understands people, making them easy to relate to, despite their historical settings. Dealing with real people in realistic situations, she knows how to keep her audience interested, leaving them with an impression long after they’ve put the book down. The stories themselves are also testament to her skills as a writer, really keeping the reader glued to the page constantly throughout. With lots more to come too, she definitely won’t be stopping writing any time in the near future, as she continues writing for a long time to come.
Early and Personal Life
Becoming keenly interested in Jane Austen at high-school following an assignment, Elizabeth Johns would become an avid reader. This would develop throughout the years following that, as she would go on to find a voice all of her very own. In time, she would then turn to writing herself, focusing on her own interests, and making her own unique stories inspired by her favorite authors.
Highly interested in regency era romance writers, this would be her particular focus, making it unique to her and her tastes. Her mother was also an English teacher, which would help her enormously over the years, allowing her to become a far more refined writer. Still currently writing to this very day, she has lots more planned in the pipeline, as her writing career carries on growing and developing.
Writing Career
In 2016 Elizabeth Johns would release her first novel, as she would start her writing career with the title ‘Through the Fire.’ This book would be a historical romance, and it would also be the first in the ongoing ‘Series of Elements’ novels, which were similarly themed. Other series she’d produce were called ‘Descendants,’ ‘Brethren in Arms,’ and ‘Gentlemen of Knight,’ all of which would prove to be hugely popular.
There was also her ‘Loring-Abbott Series,’ which would see an omnibus edition published in 2017, bringing together the four main novels and the novella. Proving to be massively successful, Johns has become a bestselling name and brand within the industry, reaching readers from around the world. She’s also contributed to various other series too alongside fellow writers such as Rebecca Connolly and Sally Britton to name a few, with lots more novels to follow.
Moon and Stars
First brought out on the Kindle back in 2018 on the 11th of June, this would be the fourth book in the ongoing ‘Descendants’ series of novels. Carrying on in much the same vein as the previous books, it would bring in plenty of twists and turns of its own along the way. Following on from each other thematically, the series features self-contained historical romances, usually with a focus on lineage, hence the series name.
At twenty-eight Lady Charlotte Stanton is seen of as ‘on the shelf,’ becoming a so-called spinster, but is then charmed by a mysterious gentleman after dancing with him under the stars. Once a smuggler, Sir David Douglas, aka Captain Deuce, is being pushed back into a life of smuggling as he seeks retribution from his past. Desperately wanting his freedom, Lady Charlotte attempts to help him escape this life, as she begins to unravel the secrets of his past. Will the two of them be able to live together, can they overcome his past, and what will become of that romantic dance under the moon and stars?
The characters in this novel are very different, making for something that really surprises when it comes to the regency romance genre. It’s an engaging story taking place in a rich and immersive world that really allows the reader to feel as if they’re a part of it. With a lot of research too, Elizabeth Johns manages to give it a highly level of accuracy and authenticity, making it wholly believable.
Dangerous Knight
Originally released through the ‘Dragonblade Publishing Inc.’ imprint, this would first come out on the 12th of August in 2021. Marking the sixth title in the ongoing ‘Gentlemen of Knights’ series of novels, all of which thematically have a historical setting, focusing on romances. Each of the books are self-contained, so they can technically be read in any order, making them all easy to pick up.
Buying an army commission, Jack Owens escapes the estate of his embittered grandmother, as he becomes an officer and spy working for the Duke of Wellington. Meanwhile Kate Rafferty had gone to an all girls’ school following the death of her parents, she’s expected to take care of her mother’s aunt in her dilapidated estate. Following the death of the aunt, Kate now has freedom, as she takes charge of her inheritance, leading to Jack returning to take charge of his estate. How will the two of them work together, will they find each other, and what, exactly, will become of the dangerous knight?
There are some cameos from other books in the series here, keeping long-term fans invested, and giving them something to enjoy. The story itself is well plotted though, allowing newcomers to really immerse themselves in it and its world. Elizabeth John’s research is more than exemplary once again too, really elevating the story and the world of the series overall.

I am a big fan of your Knight series. I’m hoping you are going to write book 8, which I’m imagining would be about Maria’s brother Gabriel and maybe the Battle of Waterloo? In any event, I’ve got my fingers crossed!
