Elle Casey is a bestselling traditionally published and indie author that writes science fiction, action, adventure, and Urban Fantasy. The author kicked off her writing career in 2013, proceeding to churn out several dozen novels and short stories over a relatively short period of time.
+Biography
Elle Casey started reading when she was four. And once she caught that particular bug, it stayed with her for the rest of her life. Elle has read over a thousand books since those early days.
And she isn’t ashamed to admit that she’s a book nerd. The author’s reading habit wasn’t always a boon, at least not for the people that knew her. Elle was always forgetting to accomplish the tasks assigned to her both at home and at school because she was too busy reading.
It was also the norm for the author to stay up all night because she needed to finish a particularly good book. Elle Casey’s preferences are pretty wide-ranging. She reads romance, paranormal, and fantasy, not to mention most forms of science fiction.
She has also experimented with the thriller and horror genres. Her reading habits prominently manifest in Elle’s books which blend a whole slew of concepts and genres. The author’s journey to publishing success started in 2010.
Elle didn’t start writing and publishing professionally until 2012. But it was in 2010 that the author made the decision to abandon her corporate life. An even more drastic occurrence was the decision the family made to move to France.
Elle Casey admits that she was yearning for a change at the time. She needed to undertake a controlled adventure, one which her life wasn’t put in peril but where she could expose her senses to new experiences.
France did that for her, and even though the move wasn’t supposed to last more than a year, Elle wasn’t surprised when France became her new home alongside her husband, three children, and their many pets.
+Literary Career
In 2010, Elle Casey was a lawyer living in the United States. When she moved to France, she started teaching legal English. However, she also found time to write.
At first, Elle didn’t really know what she was doing. Yes, she had a story she wanted to tell, and yes she was writing it down but she didn’t really know what she wanted to do with it.
That might explain why the author spent so many years working on her first book. She wasn’t motivated to proceed because she didn’t have a particular objective in mind. Yes, Elle Casey had thought about publishing.
But it all seemed far too difficult. The author is pretty open about her impatient nature. She knew at the time that the idea of running after agents and hounding publishers for a shot at literary success didn’t appeal to her.
And Elle would have stayed in that rut, working on her book but never completing it if not for an article she read about Amanda Hocking and her many achievements in indie publishing.
The article opened Elle’s eyes to the possibilities of self-publishing. As a wife and mother with a career, she had no time for traditional publishing routes. But with Indie publishing, Elle saw that she had the capacity to achieve her publishing dreams without sacrificing her family or her career.
Finally motivated, it took Elle a little over a month to finish her first book. She got it edited and finally self-published.
Interestingly enough, Elle Casey eventually went into traditional publishing. Montlake Romance approached her with an offer to republish some of her earlier works, specifically the romance novels. While Elle did take them up on their offer, her heart is still firmly planted in the indie publishing field.
Elle has admitted to struggling to keep up with indie publishing. While she has always believed that indie publishing is superior to traditional publishing, she isn’t blind to the challenges it presents.
Elle has imputed her success to an amazing assistant that not only pushes her to meet her deadlines but also contends with all the business and administrative tasks that are involved with self-publishing.
The author is also fortunate to have a husband that understands the financial aspects of indie publishing and is more than willing to help her maneuver those waters, allowing Elle Casey to focus on writing her novels whilst he tracks the sales and manages the royalties.
For the most part, Elle Casey’s life isn’t nearly as stressful as it should be for an indie published author.
Elle gets most of her writing done before noon. She doesn’t like to work with outlines. She’d rather let her imagination lead her. She tends to have more fun when she doesn’t know what is going to happen next.
+Shine Not Burn
Andie Marks was a party girl. But she abandoned that lifestyle when she left college. Now, Andie is going places. She’s a lawyer with more intelligence than she knows what to do with, and she seems set to achieve every goal worth hitting in the legal field.
When Andie joins her friends in Las Vegas for a wild Bachelorette weekend, it is with the intention of finally letting loose.
Vegas turns out to be quite the wild ride, filled with cocktails and plenty of gambling. Andie didn’t plan to meet Mack. She certainly didn’t intend to let the cowboy steal her heart.
Then came their night of passion and suddenly Mack was gone. Andie is alone when she wakes up, hangover and quite sore. She’s fairly certain that she’s seen the last of Mack. She doesn’t know how wrong she is.
This story finds the protagonist, Andie Marks, flying back home to her normal life after a wild weekend in Las Vegas, certain that her misadventures are behind her, only for that one night of steamy sex to come back and assault her just as she approaches what should be the most important day of her life.
