Elle Kennedy is a renowned contemporary romance as well as a romantic suspense writer. In 2010, she was nominated for the RITA award following her impressive writing approach in her debut novel with Silhouette Romantic Suspense. She received her B.A. degree in English from York University back in 2005. Her publishing is mainly handled by Harlequin blaze and Samhain publishing. It is equally worth noting that for a longtime now she has been having her books published under the alias “Leeanne kenedy”.
In addition to the above, Elle is also the New York Times best selling and RITA-nominated (as already mentioned above) author of the popularly known outlawed series which include: Claimed as well as the Killer instincts series just to mention a few. Looking back, Elle spent most of her early childhood in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario. Unlike it is the case with most high profiled authors, Elle knew from an early age that she would like to become a successful writer later on in future. In fact, to her, it is this dream of becoming a successful writer that propelled her to actively pursue this dream right from when she was still a teenager.
She admits to be very fond of strong heroines, alpha heroines and generally just enough heat and danger to keep things interesting. Elle’s work has also earned her the USA today and Wall street journal bestselling author titles over the years.
Elle is very passionate about her work. This is clearly evident from the fact that she has on several occasions admitted to having fun with the characters who she create in her books for her audiences. For instance, in her book, midnight rescue, she admits to being very fond of Morgan’s mercenaries expressing her love for their tight knit bond including the close relationship between Abby and her fellow female colleagues. Elle has also admitted how much fun it is to explore the dynamics between all her characters while writing.
When free, not working on her writing and not spending time with her loved ones, Elle loves to read other interesting materials by her favorite authors. She admits to reading a bit of everything particularly romantic suspense and contemporary romance. Other genres she admits to finding to be equally interesting include: thrillers and literary fiction. Concerning her favorite authors, they include: Iris Johansen, JR Ward, Suzanne Brockmann, Christine Feehan and Danielle Steel.
Elle has clearly understands that writing romantic tension is a rare art. For this, she takes time to explain how she creates that tension with her characters claiming, it is not something which she consciously thinks about. She claims that the tension just naturally ends up making featuring without being forced especially when she is in the midst of bringing out the bickering nature of her characters or when they are brought out fighting their personal attraction for each other.
Looking more into how she does her writing, it is clearly evident that her characters definitely come first during her writing. More specifically, she claims to always get ideas for really awesome characters and then take time to thoroughly brain storm the ideas right until she comes up with the best world to place them in. a perfect example of how she is able to achieve this is in her book midnight rescue in which she claims to have had a heroine in mind in advance of course alongside other main characters in the book. What followed was simply the piecing together of smaller sections of her imagination for the book which was done and ended up with a rather solid plot.
It is equally worth noting that Elle admits to always be working on something new for her audiences. For instance, at the moment she claims to be working on three different series all set for release shortly after. It is such consistency coupled by her creativity which makes her readers and fans stick closely by her throughout she has authored and successfully published since she started writing to date. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, make sure you grab yourself a couple copies of Elle’s previous published titles for an exciting read.
Awards and Nominations
Over the years since she started writing, Elle’s work has not gone unnoticed, this is clearly evident from the fact that over the years since the release of her debut title, she has won several high profiled awards linked to writing and her other books earning her a fair amount of nominations for other equally prestigious awards.
