The Cajun Country Mystery series written by Ellen Byron is comprised of 2 books till now, which were released between 2015 and 2016. The first book was published under the title of ‘Plantation Shudders’. The Crooked Lane publishers released this book in the year 2015. According to author Ellen, this book gives the readers a feel of the Southern hospitality. She has described the main characters in the form of Maggie Crozat and Bo Durand, and the plot is set in Louisiana. In the starting sequence of the mystery book, author Ellen has described the end of the summer season in Louisiana. The Prodigal Daughter, Maggie Crozat decides to return home to look after the plantation business of her family in Louisiana. At the time of her return, a local food festival is organized in the town due to which the inn of the Crozats gets filled with numerous guests. The guests include a couple of elderly honeymooners, two hipster love birds, the Cajun Cuties, the frat boys’ trio from Georgia, and the Cajun Cuties. As soon as the food festival begins, the elderly couple is found dead due to natural causes within the difference of a few minutes. Due to this sudden event, Maggie Crozat and a few others become the prime suspects in couple’s murder. The town has a newly appointed handsome detective in the form of Bo Durand, who helps Maggie investigate the case. Maggie Crozat is faced with the dual challenge of clearing her name from the murder as well as preventing her family business from coming down. The more she digs into the mystery of the murder case, the more doubts whether all the guests had come there for vacation. She wonders whether a few of them had some uglier motives behind their visit. Maggie and Bo Durand also think that the real killer might have used the local festival as an ultimate chance to carry out his deadly crime. Due to the sudden turn of events after the incident, they believe that the killer might not have left the town. Therefore, they begin to look out for each and every guest who have arrived at the festival to see whether any of them is linked to the murders. In the following events, decades old secrets as well as stunning revelations are discovered, which not only shock Bo Durand and Maggie Crozat, but also the entire town.

The next book in the series written by Ellen, Body on the Bayou, was also published by the Crooked Lane publication. At the beginning of the book, author Ellen has shown that the Crozats lived in the fear the past murders that took place at their plantation might cause the death of their dear-to-heart estate as well. But somehow, they manage to come out of the scandal safely. Now, a big is about to take place in Pelican, Louisiana due to the upcoming marriage of the nemesis of Maggie Crozat, the Chief of Police Rufus Durand, and a co-worker of hers named Vanessa Fleer. For the big event, Maggie gets inexplicably tasked to become the Maid of Honor of Vanessa. Very soon, she understands why no one else was ready to take up the task when she takes a look at the long list of assignments given to her by Vanessa. The most important task in the list is to entertain Vanessa’s cousin named Ginger Fleer-Starke. Maggie finds her as a mysterious woman hiding dangerous secrets. When a few days are left for the grand wedding, the dead body of Ginger Fleer is discovered on the bayou located behind the plantation of the Crozats. As a result, the Pelican police department and Maggie Cozart get a new murder mystery to solve. The ones who are in the list of suspects include a former Marine, a local reporter, and Vanessa’s own mother. Finally, it appears that the police are about to zero in as the prime suspect on Vanessa. But, Maggie decides to keep her out of trouble as a part of her dutiful responsibilities.
