Emma Prince is a Seattle-based bestselling American writer of medieval romance, historical romance, and general romance stories. Her books have appeared on the bestselling list of USA Today on multiple occasions. Prince is famous for writing emotional, steamy, and page-turning Scottish stories of medieval romance. Some of the well-known book series penned by her include the Sinclair Brothers Trilogy, Four Horsemen of the Highlands series, Highland Bodyguards series, and the Viking Lore series. The debut novel of the series is entitled ‘The Lady’s Protector’. It was released as a Kindle publication in 2016. The book opens by showing Ansel Sutherland as having been handed a mission by King Robert following the Bannockburn Battle. He is asked to protect an important English Earl’s illegitimate son.

The second volume of the series is known as ‘Heart’s Thief’. It was also published in 2016 as a Kindle publication. This book opens by introducing Colin MacKay as a charming Scottish man with hidden secrets. He devotes himself in the service of Scotland’s independence movement to overcome the pain of a betrayal he suffered in the past. King Robert hands him an important mission upon learning that his strategic communications can no longer be trusted. Colin is asked to find out the spy and make the communications safe again. Upon investigation, he discovers that the King’s correspondence was being intercepted by the beautiful Sabine. Colin holds her in his captivity until the time he delivers her to the King for judgment. Sabine has always lived as a thief. She was an orphan roaming on the streets when a father-figure saved her and taught all the tricks of thievery.

During the time that Colin and Sabine are together, sparks of attraction begin to arise between them. Sabine finds herself falling for the rugged Highlander and comes all clean in front of him. Later, when her life is threatened by unseen forces, Colin puts his life on the line to protect her. This fills her heart with more love for him. He too accepts her love and shows affection. But, as he is bound by duty, he has to come up with a decision and choose between love and loyalty.
