Eric Meyer is a British author with over thirty detective and military fiction novels to his name. Writing about political intrigue and military type fiction comes easy to him given his varied professional background. He graduated from the University College, Cardiff as a political science major before serving in the Royal Marines Reserve as a Commando where he rose through the ranks to Colour Sergeant. He was involved in several sensitive missions during his time of service, and took several instructor courses with the Special Forces. Leaving the Royal Marines, he took to a career as a consultant and independent coach with several blue chip companies and many notable organizations. Heavily drawing from the experiences in the military, he had all the skills, training and tools necessary to inculcate initiative and leadership skills for his clients and their employees.
As one of the best motivational speakers in the UK, he has collaborated with a number of experts and authors in the field to co-write several motivation and self-improvement titles that have done well. As an author, his novels have been highly successful selling thousands of copies in eBook, hardback and paperback format all over the world. He first dipped his toe into novel publishing with the 2010 published military thriller “Devil’s Guard: The Real Story”. The novel, similar to many of his other military historical works is factual, taking most of its storyline from the French Indochina War. Even as he does a lot of research for the novels, his military experience is evident in the novels, most of which are set in the Vietnam War period, The Middle East, and the Eastern Front of World War II. In addition to writing his blockbuster novels, Eric Meyer has also been the presenter in a number of documentaries that explore a range of historical subjects such as the mystical brilliance of Leonardo da Vinci and early Christian history.
Even as he is a married man with three children, Eric has never let go of his interests in historical and military research, which he does when he has any spare time. Eric is a keen runner and takes his running very seriously, entering, and achieving some success in some very competitive off-road and road races such as fell running. In the course of his long career, he has put to use his growing and extensive knowledge of the workings of the military and a passion for motivational tools, to write novels that will not entertain, but also thrill the reader. A lot of his work has been focused on the long running Afghanistan War. What makes his novels so enthralling is that he has the uncanny ability to write of past and current military historical events with such detail, and still manage to make the events entertaining and timeless.
The Detective and military historical series of novels feature either Special Forces veterans such as Gabriel de Sade, former Navy SEAL Lieutenant Abe Talley or a team of Special Ops forces such as Bravo Team. The novels are rich fast-moving tales that tell the story of international elite units or individual operatives that carry out missions that no one else is willing or able to carry out successfully. The plots and themes of the novels range from fast moving and rich tales full of suspense, religious mysticism, brutality to mystery, intrigue, and compassion. Given the author’s experience in a range of military settings all over the world, the novels take place in different continents, ranging from New York, the Sierra Nevada, Afghanistan, Vietnam, and continental Europe. Some of the novels such as the Gabriel de Sade thriller series are about the boldness and courage of one man in facing the seemingly impossible in the quest to save the world from a vicious enemy. The military series such as Black Ops and Devil’s Guard are about a group men determined to save their world from a crisis. Full of unexpected and dramatic plot twists and incorporating real world entities such as the FBI, the CIA, NATO, and ISIS, the novels are a rollercoaster of crime and espionage that will leave the reader reeling.
“Echo Six: Black Ops – Raid on Somalia”, the first novel in the Echo Six: Black Ops series is an intense and brutal novel that introduces the bold and brave international team founded by NATO, to undertake missions deemed too hard for ordinary special teams. The team is led by Lieutenant Abe Talley an ex-Navy SEAL, and is composed of Polish SpecOPs, German, French, British operators, Delta Force and US Navy SEALS. They are called into action even before they complete their training, when Al Qaeda, which has taken control of piracy in Somalia, takes several hostages, which it threatens to execute. The team is to go to Somalia, land on the hostile coast, head inland, neutralize the pirates, and rescue the hostages. Talley has to control a team of ill-prepared yet highly trained operatives with huge egos that spark intense rivalries, even as he faces a well-prepared and well-equipped enemy that knows they are coming. The mission of the elite team expands to take on more dangerous and larger objectives that often results in exciting no holds battles, in which there is no quarter given.
“Echo Six: Black Ops 2 – Assault on Iran”, the second novel in the Echo Six: Black Ops series sees the team called upon to undertake a mission in the heartland of the one of the most repressive regimes in the world. When an agency raids the manufacturing plant of a major drug trafficker, they take an Iranian cleric who tells of a conspiracy by a rogue element of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard to get its hands on nuclear warheads. With such weapons, the Guard could launch a conflict that could trigger Armageddon or at the least threaten security and peace in the Middle East and the world. Echo Six is now called upon to cross into Iran, where they are to infiltrate and take out the leader of the rogue element, even if it the president of Iran – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Fighting their way through multiple ambushes and double crosses, they cut a swathe through the elite Iranian forces until they locate their target. They are now on the verge of eliminating the man hell bent on reestablishing the Persian Empire to its former greatness. But in Tehran where every Iranian is a hostile, the members of the team discover that not even their allies can be trusted.
