Erica James is an award-winning British author of romance, contemporary, and general fiction stories. She has written several bestselling single novels in her career, including Love & Devotion, Airs & Graces, Hidden Talents, A Breath of Fresh Air, Gardens of Delight, Act of Faith, etc. In addition to these, she has also penned an anthology called What A Woman Wants in collaboration with Maureen Lee and Donna Hay. In 2006, Erica won the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Romantic Novel of the Year Award for her book, Gardens of Delight. After that, she won a lot more success in her career as readers all over the world began noticing her work and reading her novels with more interest. Author Erica was born Erica Sullivan in Surrey, England in 1960. She was brought up on Hayling Island, Hampshire, where her family had relocated when she was 4 years old.

Today, Erica is a divorced mother of two sons, Samuel and Edward. Both of them have now grown up and support her in her writing interests. Erica now manages her time between her homes in Lake Como, Italy, and Suffolk, Cheshire. She claims to have developed an interest in writing romance stories after undertaking a course in creative writing organized by the Avon Foundation. Erica says that she has an insatiable appetite for interfering in the business of other people. That is why she often indulges in a conversation with unknown people with the hope that she will unearth something useful out of it that can be used in her writing material.

Erica thinks it is the best way to come up with authentic characters worth creating for a story. However, her sons seem to see it in a different way. They say that they will not able to recover from their childhood embarrassments because of the compulsion of their mother. Erica likes to laugh it off saying that she likes to do what makes her happy and benefits her work. So far, nineteen of her books have become bestsellers with many more to come in the times to follow. Author Erica takes great pride in knowing that her romance novels have entertained readers in different corners of the world. She wishes to keep writing such interesting stories for many more years to come and achieve the love and support of her fans like she always has.

Many noteworthy critics and fellow writers have said words of praise for her work. They have said that Erica possesses great writing talents and excellent writing skills. And just like her fans, they too are waiting eagerly to read more novels written by her. Erica says that she had no intention of becoming an author even after reaching her late twenties. She felt she did not have the confidence of an author at that time. When she began writing, she just did it as an enjoyable hobby. Her writing was mostly inspired by her deep interest in reading. From a young age, Erica loved to lose herself in an interesting book. Then one day, it struck her mind that she should try her hand at writing a story of her own. This thought was also fueled by the idea of taking her escapism sense to a level higher.

Erica began to dream about losing herself in a book written out of her own imagination. Throughout her adult life, Erica has lived in northern England. She has loved and cherished the picturesque villages of Yorkshire and Chesire. Today, she feels blessed to be able to use those places in her novels’ settings. Erica believes the writing environment is very important for a writer. When she is in Suffolk, she chooses to sit in her study room and write. It is filled with bookshelves and photographs of her sons that motivate her to do justice with her writing talents. When living in Italy, Erica’s writing area is very small. So, she tends to step outside very often and sit on her balcony to write. This helps her to overcome her writer’s block and gets her going. The scene of a boat passing by in the nearby lake provides the much-needed distraction for the rebooting of her brain.

Currently, Erica enjoys her time as a noteworthy author. She just wants to write as many books as she can in whatever years she is left with so that her fans keep remembering her through her novels even after she is gone. Erica likes interacting with her followers through her website and answering their queries. She also uses her website to post updates about the upcoming releases of her novels.

An exciting book written by author Erica James is entitled ‘Summer at the Lake’. It was published in 2014 and features the primary characters in the form of Floriana, Esme Silcox, Adam Strong, and several others. Initially, it is mentioned that Floriana receives a wedding invitation and undergoes a complete change in her life. The invitation reads that the man whom she loved with all her heart is about to get married to someone else. Disheartened at this discovery, Floriana is so distracted while walking on the road that she does not see a speeding car coming towards her. Unfortunately, she is hit by the car and two unknown men rush to help her. One of the men is a local property developer named Adam Strong and the other is an elderly spinster named Esme Silcox. Luckily, Floriana is lives with just minor injuries. She realizes that if she had not met Adam and Esme on that day, she would have not gathered the courage to attend the wedding of her lover Seb in Lake Como. Through the tragic story of Floriana, Esme remembers her own story when she lived at the lake when she was 19 years old. She had come across the first love of her life. But, they could not come together. Esme always wondered what happened to her lover and how he ended up changing her life forever.

Another wonderful book penned by the author is called ‘Shallowtail Summer’. It was released by Orion in 2019. The main characters mentioned in this novel include Alastair, Simon, Danny, Orla, and a few others. Erica has set this book in Linston’s End, Norfolk. This book opens by mentioning that a summer home in Linston’s End provides unforgettable and happy memories for 3 close families. The story follows the long-term friendship between Simon, Danny, and Alastair. Their friendship starts in their childhood when Alastair invites the other two to spend the summer with him at Linston’s End. They come across many adventures there and take their friendship to adulthood, thereby including their partners and kids as well. As time goes by, things change drastically. Alastair loses his wife, Orla, and gets hooked on a new lady named Valentina. This momentous decision of Alastair is not liked by his friends, who feel betrayed and breaking of their trust. This story revolves around love, family drama, love, betrayal, loss, lies, and secrets.
