Erich Von Daniken is a published author who has written books on his views on topics such as extra-terrestrial beings potentially having been involved with the construction of some of the most impressive structures on the face of the planet, such as the great pyramids.

The author was born in Switzerland on April 14, 1935. He would attend the College St-Michel for his higher learning, located in Fribourg. An avid reader as a student, he preferred to study texts from the past as his subject of interest. During the course of his enrollment, Erich became interested in studying old holy writings from ancient times.

Around the same time he was working as the manager of a Swiss hotel. There he came up with his first novel. It was titled Chariots of the Gods. The book would do very well and was a best-seller instantly in not only the United States but Germany but many more countries as well.

The novels have often been translated into two dozen languages and globally have sold over sixty million copies. The books have inspired two documentary films, called “Chariots of the Gods” followed by “Messages of the Gods”. He is also an impressive lecturer and has given many lectures during the course of his travels at different universities and locations in many countries.

Erich speaks a total of four languages. He enjoys researching things and has traveled many miles through the sky to get to different places to lecture. He is also able to take a closer look at the various things that he is writing about. He has also had the pleasure of seeing his various works be translated into different languages thanks to their popularity among various people around the world!

Erich likes to get an up close and personal look at the various things that he is writing about. To him, there is more to write about and he can do a better job if he has visited to different places and has actually tangibly witnessed places, people, things, etc.

He belongs to various writings groups. These include the International PEN-Club as well as the Swiss writers association and the German writers association. His full name is Erich Anton Paul von Daniken. He is recognized in the writing community for authoring books, some of which allude to the influences of so called extra terrestrial figures on the human culture of the early days. While the author may believe what he says, academics and scientists largely tend to view Erich Von Daniken’s ideas with healthy doses of skepticism, if not outright rejecting it and labeling it ‘pseudo-science’.

The author ran into a bit of trouble as he went to prison after being convicted of various financial crimes. He would end up serving some time for multiple fraud or embezzlement counts. It was in fact during this time that he found the time to write a book which would later be published.

The author would co-found the AAS RA (the Archaeology, Astronautics, and the SETI Research Association. He has also interestingly enough taken a turn at designing a theme park that was originally referred to as “Mystery Park”. These days, the Swiss theme park is referred to as Jungfrau Park. The park would open in 2003 in May.

The author was originally a practicing Roman Catholic as he had been brought up to be by his family. He would then attend a Catholic school where the author did not accept the interpretations done of the Bible and found an interest not only in astronomy but also with flying saucers. If his books are any indication, this would prove to be a portent of his future obsession with UFOs, flying saucers, extra terrestrials, and other subjects in this area.

Erich Von Daniken turned his life around after going to prison. He pivoted into a new position managing the Hotel Rosenhugel in the beautiful location of Davos in Switzerland. That time he would also endeavor to write his Chariots of the Gods, which translates to something else in German to English as something about memories about the future. He would work on the manuscript when he had time at the end of his shift, late into the night when all of the guests were asleep.

He had worked very hard on the book but ultimately when he attempted to submit it to different publishers, the book’s draft was discouraged and turned down by many of them. He would eventually find someone that was willing to publish his book, after a professional writer reworked the book using a pseudonym.

Erich Von Daniken continues to have an impact this day, being one of the more polarizing figures in the literary world. He angered others with his assertions in Chariots, but many also speculate that he was continuing assertions put forth by other authors on space and humanity, such as Sagan.

You can check out the works of this unique writer for yourself, a man that was larger than life and had his own ways with words. The sales from his first book let him leave working in the hotel and to also pay back some of the debts that he had incurred. He was able to write his second book while he was in prison. He titled it “Gods from Outer Space”.

Gods from Outer Space expands on the idea that what if ancient extra-terrestrial beings came to Earth in the past? It goes into the beliefs that the author has that great structures are in fact artifacts, and they are even evidence of the fact that there may be intelligent beings out there that have a more sophisticated technological knowledge than was in place at the times that they came.

If you are fascinated by anything to do with extra-terrestrial beings or just like reading about unique points of view, check von Daniken’s works out for yourself! He may be controversial, but it is perhaps because he evokes such strong feelings that readers even today still want to see what he has to say– sort of the original version of “Ancient Aliens”!

Actually, Von Daniken got it wrong – the aliens’ starship suffered a catastrophic engine failure while exploring the solar system, landed on the moon, and had to set their pithecanthropic servitors free to make room for the suspended animation couches they’d need to keep themselves alive for the very, very long trip home. The pithecanthropic servitors, discovering that they were left on a desolate, barren airless moon, right next to an inviting planet, promptly rebelled against orders to wait, threw a line from the Earth to the Moon, and climbed down when it was dark. _That_ is the true story of humanity’s extraterrestrial descent!!!

I was brought up in chaple, we had bible readings every week at Sunday school, non of the storied made sense to me, I got into trouble for questioning the tales in the bible, then I read Chairots of the gods, OMG it all started to make sense then, I am now a total believer in the works of Erich von Daniken, as a patrol officer in later life I had the honor to see a large triangular UFO on three different occasions, so now NO one can tell me that they don’t exist or that they are not real, I have seen them with my own eye’s, Thank you ERICH von DANIKEN, don’t ever stop.

I can’t believe that I waited so long to really pay attention and appreciate the whole idea that we’re not alone, they’ve been here for EVER.I hope one day I could witness a UFO, until then I’ll just keep watching and reading about how we started. Now I can understand how it all began. Like Eric the Bible, the stories of God etc finally make sence. I guess I just needed Eric to fill in the blanks, correct the sentences, say it like it really happened. Now it makes sense and I believe the stories of the Bible now. Thank you Eric. Carry on.
