A firm fixture within the fantasy literary scene, American author Erin M Evans is highly regarded by her many peers and contemporaries alike. This is largely thanks to her unique and exciting take upon the genre, giving it her own personality and style that has managed to turn the heads of many in the industry. Bringing her inner-worlds to life upon the page, she has a fun and vibrant style that is at once both captivating and compelling in equal measure.
Early and Personal Life
Growing up in St. Louis in Missouri, Erin M Evans always had a keen passion for literature, being a voracious reader and writer as she was. It was here that she would also come to formulate many of the ideas that were to form the basis of much of her future writing career. Taking the time to understand and comprehend her craft, she would hone it over the years, articulating both her style and her voice.
Studying anthropology she attended Washington University in St. Louis whereby she gained a degree whilst there. During this time she would also nurture her interest in fantasy and writing, something which would be developed in the years to come. Working on building worlds within her stories, she was able to use her learning to better develop her ideas and themes too.
Prior to becoming a full-time writer of her own novels, she would work as an editor for the ‘Wizards of the Coast’ publishing house. This would give her some degree of insight into the writing process for fantasy novels unlike any other, as she furthered her own craft as well. It would also help to inspire her overall, allowing her to develop herself as a writer, giving her ideas to work with as well.
Following her graduation she and her husband traveled America in a 1983 Winnebago, taking in all the sights that it had to offer. Now living with him in Seattle having settled down, she continues to write, putting out work at a regular and ever consistent pace. There’s more to come too, as she maintains a strong presence and profile both online and off, building upon her legacy as one of the foremost figures working within the fantasy industry to date.
Writing Career
The first novel she brought out was initially part of another series as she made her debut with an installment of the ‘Forgotten Realms’ series. This would see her making a name for herself in 2010, as she brought out the first title, which was her introduction to the publishing industry at large. Setting her up as a fantasy writer, the novel ‘The God Catcher’ would allow her to find establish her through this ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ lead series.
Creating the ‘Neverwinter: Brimstone Angels’ series as well, along with the ‘Sundering’ franchise too, she is an extremely prolific author. Building long-running sagas, she can develop the stories over time, allowing them to come alive for the reader, providing a sense of familiarity in the process. Her sense of character too is also instrumental in this, as the reader comes to feel as if they really know them by the end of the series.
Garnering critical acclaim, she is not just a hit with the fans of the fantasy genre, as she has scope outside of the industry too. Turning the heads of many with her writing, she is known for her extensive background research, as she really brings her universes to life. Making them realistic and vivid, she is able to give them a sense of familiarity that not only resonates, but starts to grow upon the reader, making them constantly come back for more.
Having settled down in Seattle with her husband, she still writes to this day, as there’s always more room to carry on building her worlds. Understanding and knowing her craft, she is able to create characters that manage to come alive for the reader, giving them an insight they wouldn’t otherwise have had. Not showing signs of stopping any time soon either, she is all set to carry on into the foreseeable future, as her writing career goes from strength-to-strength.
The God Catcher
Part of the ‘Forgotten Realms’ long-running franchise, this was an entry for Erin M Evans among the installments of many other authors. Working as part of the ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ setting, this was something that Evans knew extremely well when coming to the series. Released on the 2nd of February in 2010, this was first published by the ‘Wizards of the Coast’ publishing label to much acclaim.
Wanting to become a wizard whatever the cost, Tennora is determined in her goal, as she soon finds someone who can bestow on her just that. Meeting Clytemorrenestrix, or ‘She Will Thunder in the Sky’, Tennora finds that her dreams may soon become reality. Offering to help Tennora achieve her goal, she must first provide this mysterious woman with assistance in returning to her true-form. Can Tennora help her? How will the information from a bounty hunter that all those who fail Clytemorrenestrix are killed affect Tennora? Will she be able to appease the God Catcher?
Fire in the Blood
Brought out through the ‘Wizards of the Coast’ publishing label once more, this would also be part of an ongoing series. Following from the previous title, this was to be the fourth book to be released in the long-running ‘Brimstone Angels’ series of novels, as well as being the third in the ‘Sundering’ series too. Continuing in much the same vein as before, it was first released on the 14th of October in 2014 to much acclaim from her legions of fans worldwide.
