Eva Winners is a Croatian paranormal and contemporary romance novel author. Her debut novel Second Chance at Love was published in 2020, and she has since been writing epic romances and paranormal. Her writing focuses on the character’s emotional development and always promises happily ever after. Vows of a Mobster, published in 2021, is a story of a mobster leader and a beautiful young day with a dark secret. In an effort to save her daughter’s life, Brianna was forced to commit the ultimate crime. Years have passed, and now she has made it clear to steer off everything to do with organized crime. But while her best friend’s knowledge of the organized crime world has often come in handy for her, she swears not to get involved with their family business. Unfortunately, when her daughter gets sick, she has no option but to get a job. The job she gets puts her in the crossfire of the people she has always avoided- people like Mateo.

Mateo is a man of simplicity. He lives a simple life, free from liabilities, commitments, and weaknesses. His duty is to lead his family to acquire more wealth and money. In his social circle, women are plentiful and only good for one thing. But when he finally meets Brianna, she’s like no other woman he has ever met. He finds himself strongly attracted to her, whether she likes him back or not.

While Brianna does whatever it takes to keep her secrets hidden, Mateo, on the other hand, works desperately to unearth them. She has worked so hard to keep her world uncomplicated but doesn’t realize how entangled her life is with the people she has always avoided. With her life in mortal danger, as well as that of her daughter, and her baby day on her tail, Brianna gets more than she bargained for. Will their budding love be enough to overcome all obstacles, or will it ultimately crush her?

Eva Winners does a fantastic job of creating a romance story that blends well with the mob story. And true to her word, the story kicks off with the secrets promised to us on the back cover, but missing a ton of information, something that will get you obsessed with the story wanting to know what led the heroine to end up in this situation because it was both intense and immersive.

The author gives the readers everything, deceit, lies, angst, seduction, passion, and so much more. The main characters are not the type of couple you would expect, even though they bond; they complete each other even with the age difference. They are strongly attracted to each other, and their attraction goes from smoking to explosive with lots of tenderness.

Brianna is committed to her beautiful daughter, with whom they have a special bond. With Daphne and Marissa, they established their mini-mafia, a small family. You could tell how strong she was and how much she loved them. They were crazy with all of their booze and smut. Even though we didn’t see much of her humor in subsequent chapters, Brianna was funny. She felt so alive for the very first time when she met Mateo. They connected immediately. Their bond was extremely sweet and rapidly evolving, so you’d better hold on tight.

Mateo was a strong character. We expected nothing less from the mob leader, right? When he meets Brianna, his entire life changes. He had discovered that she was the one for him, and he was unwilling to let her go. He was overly protective but possessive as well. Mateo knew he shouldn’t engage in that manner, but he couldn’t help himself. He was the ice-cold and poised mafia leader. Still, he completely lost control if Brianna (and eventually Emma) were involved, despite the fact that he was occasionally unfair to her. However, this made him a stronger character since he admitted his mistakes. His friendship with Emma was the most charming.

As the story unfolds, we get some answers, but at the same time, more questions come up, and everything becomes a mystery. Some things are impossible to guess even when we know the truth, and the tension remains high as some secrets are yet to be revealed. Eva Winners blends nicely the romance and mystery sides of this novel, one feeding the other. This allows us to encounter several supporting characters besides the Italian mob.

The story is jam-packed with emotions that will sweep you to the right from the start. There are plenty of scenes in the story that will have you anticipating and, in fear, worried about the characters. But to balance things, the author added some beautiful moments that make you feel squishy inside. The story is a dark romance, but some additions to fascinating sense of humor throughout the pages create an outstanding balance.

In Marked, the first book in the Russian Sinners series, we are introduced to Dimitry and his brothers, who have spilled tears, sweat, and blood to get out of the streets of Russia. Dimitry has had to do and see things that have transformed him into a ruthless and dangerous man.

All that matters to him now is to keep his brothers safe, and the only way he can protect them is to amass money, power, and connections in high places. When tasked with rescuing a powerful man’s daughter, he knows that this favor would open up doors to the last thing he needs to become legitimate. The rescue mission was supposed to be swift, but Dimitry soon finds himself face-to-face with Anastasia.

Anastasia ventured on one last trip to remember her friends before their lives took a completely different turn. Instead of enjoying the trip, she finds herself abducted and threatened by a monster who almost killed her over a decade ago. When she is about to give up, her knight in shining armor shows up. Their romance is at first rocky, but they both grounded each other. He made her feel safe, even with bullets flying everywhere and bodies dropping.
