The Jane Yellowrock Series: Skinwalker
Jane Yellowrock is a vampire hunger, and that’s not all. She’s also a skinwalker. Born to Cherokee heritage and a supernatural being who can share her body with a mountain lion’s soul, the rogue heroine is also a merciless vampire hunter who does so for a living. In the first book of the series, Skinwalker, Jane is hired to hunt down a vampire who is dangerous by Katie, who is an old vampire. This vampire she must kill is attacking humans but also other vampires. The vampire in question is powerful, old, and harder to track than Jane thought it would be. All Jane knows about vampires is that they go insane and then need to be put down. As she tracks down the vampire she is contracted to kill, she discovers the vampire society of New Orleans and the sane vampire culture, its politics, lifestyle, and v.i.p.s, as well as more about her own heritage.
Jane is missing bits of her past and memory from her childhood as well. All she knows now is that she shares a body with Beast. Beast is the mountain lion that she can shapeshift into when she is hunting. Jane can also take on other animal forms, but prefers to take on Beast as they both have a close relationship and their own will, thoughts, and memories. As Jane continues to hunt the vampire, she starts experiencing pieces of her memory coming back to her which start to fill in the gaps about her clan, heritage, and the merging of she and Beast. Will Jane find the vampire she’s hired to kill? Or will the vamp find her first?
The Jane Yellowrock Series: Blood Cross
Jane Yellowrock is back at it again. This time she has been hired by head of the Vampire Council, Leo Pellissier. Jane has been contracted to hunt down and terminate one of the vampires’ own due to the fact that he has broken the sacred ancient rules. Jane quickly comes to realize that in a community with ties that go back thousands of years, that loyalties and myths can have real power and the past can manifest in the present with sufficient ease. When black magic and witches start becoming involved, it’s time for Jane Yellowrock to find new weapons as well as new friends who will stand at her side and fight the evil that is plaguing New Orleans.
Jane soon gets the help of the local vigilantes as well of her best friend, Molly, who just so happens to be a witch. She must find the master vampire who is haphazardly creating baby vampires and leaving them cured and untrained, to wreak havoc upon the population of the city. Jane finds herself in the middle of some bitter rivalries, and begins to find herself more close than ever before to the closely guarded secret: the origin of the whole of the vampire race. In a city that is filled with dark magic and that keeps old grudges, Jane will have to fight in order to protect both of the sides, with no guarantee that any of them will step up to protect her in return.
To make matters worse, her best friend Molly and her children, Angie and Evan, are staying over with Jane while Leo is actively attempting to murder her. Leo is depressed over the loss of his son and well, it’s bad news for Jane. Jane does have more help this time around, with a group of ex soldiers and the NOPD on her side at least. These groups are in the middle of the fighting to save the city. Then Molly’s children are kidnapped, and Jane must save the day and find them alive before it’s too late. Jane may also have a bit of a romance going with one of the new men that turns up in her life, and even a bit of a life triangle. As Jane tries to track down the master vamp, do research, and save her best friend’s children, it’s not certain whether she will triumph, but she has to. Lives are depending on it.
