Main character Una is someone who keeps to herself. She belongs to a pack, but in the pack that she’s in, the females rank lower. She also has a bad leg that translates into her being something similar to damaged goods. Not helping the matter is the fact that Una has never actually shifted.

All of this is contributing to helping to keep her single, but she doesn’t mind keeping to herself in her late twenties. She’s also got the benefit of building up her own farmer’s market empire with the help of her roommates. Living under Killian Kelly might feel stuffy at times, but at least they’re able to predict what’s going to happen and can deal with what comes accordingly.

She just didn’t count on biology coming into the picture. When it all activates, Una starts to act on it. She claims the alpha of the pack as her mate, and he responds by rejecting her in front of everyone there. It’s embarrassing, but that’s what happened, and Una is going to continue to survive.

She’s got things to do anyway, and is busy running her business. She doesn’t need someone like that to be her mate. But there must have been something behind her going for it more than biology, right? Una thinks about it but isn’t sure.

Killian’s had to have been tough to lead the pack into a brighter age, and to do so, he’s had to act without mercy sometimes. He can’t afford to make mistakes, and when making a choice, he doesn’t flinch. So it’s easy to turn down Una Hayes when she claims him as a mate because in his mind, she isn’t his mate at all.

Even though the wolf might be oddly infatuated with him, Killian can’t help but think that he would know it if she were meant to be his. He’s able to walk away at the moment. But he also starts to worry that he might go back to her and start thinking about her all of the time.

Killian’s the strongest male to come around in five generations, and the pack obeys him without question. He thinks that bringing one female back into the fold and showing her place will be easy enough. After all, who could match him when it comes to being stubborn?

Killian is starting to worry that he’s ruining one of the greatest things that ever happened to him. Could it be that Una is actually more destined to be his mate than he thought? Or is he about to find that even the Alpha leader of the pack could make an error when it comes to love? Read this shifter romance debut to find out what happens!

The Heir Apparent’s Rejected Mate is the second novel in the Five Packs series by Cate C. Wells. All of the shifter romance continues with new characters in the second installment of this series.

Rosie thinks that being mated to heir apparent Cadoc Collins must have been a mistake. There can be no way that they are meant to be together. She’s a scavenger and her people in the pack are so low that they don’t even make the rankings.

Rosie thinks that she ought to have known better, but she allows herself to forget the Moon Lake facts of hierarchy for one night. She can’t resist Cadoc Collins, and he cannot resist her. At the same time, though, Rosie also knows that he is not going to go out of his way to claim her. But when a pregnancy test comes up affirming that she’s with child, she’s got a much larger problem to deal with.

Now Rosie is eighteen years old and pregnant, while also having been rejected by the man who will be alpha. However, she’s going to do her best to scavenge and to provide for her baby. Little does she know that Cadoc is conflicted.

Cadoc knows that the fate of the pack rests with him, and it’s impossible to claim the scavenger female as his right now. They’re about to revolt, and a mating situation like this could lead to conflict once more. The future alpha thinks he needs time so he can show that he can do what is wanted to him as a future leader.

Cadoc thinks that when he’s ready, she’ll be there for him. But is his status as heir apparent getting to his head? What will happen between Cadoc and Rosie? Read this Five Packs romance to find out!
