The “Frank Einstein” series written by Jon Scieszka (who used to teach elementary school) is illustrated by Brian Biggs. The series is for kids grades three through seven (ages eight to twelve years old) and they are chapter books.

A kid named Frank Einstein (who is a genius) loves see how the world works. He does this by creating contraptions that have part imagination, are definitely unusual, and are part science.

The series combines real science and immersive and educational diagrams and experiments for kids to try out for themselves. This is still a fictional series, though. Scieszka feels that he can invent anything, since he is writing for a boy genius.

He decided to write the series after his own son was given something to read by a teacher (“Little House on the Prarie”). The kid did not like it and found that nothing had happened in the book.

“Frank Einstein and the Antimatter Motor” is the first novel in the “Frank Einstein” series and was released in the year 2014. After Frank does an experiment that goes nowhere, in his lab (which is also his garage), a lightning storm and some electricity bring the robots Klink and Klank to life. These are Frank’s inventions that he made in an effort to win the science fair that is coming up pretty soon. They are not quite who you would want working with you in a science lab. Klink is a wise cracker, and Klank is overly expressive. They still help to work and make perfect his Antimatter Motor. That is until T. Edison robs Frank of Klink and Klank for his own evil doomsday plan.

Fans of the novel found that the read was great, it had both what you find in kids books, but also what you see in books for adults. Like Asimov’s rules for robots yet it also featured certain things that you would find in “Captain Underpants” books. There was great humor, robots, science. This series is a great way to get kids reading, but also familiar with science. This was a great read, because there are great illustrations that add to the experience, too; it is even approved by some mothers out there. It made readers unable to wait for more books in the series.

“Frank Einstein and the Electro- Finger” is the second novel in the “Frank Einstein” series and was released in the year 2015. Once again, Frank Einstein teams up with his pals Watson (who is his best friend), Klank (who mostly built himself and is an artificial intelligence entity), and Klink (who was assembled by Klink himself and is also artificial mostly intelligence entity). They find themselves going head to head with T. Edison, their classmate and biggest rival. In this case, to unlock the mysteries and power that lies behind the science of energy. Frank is trying to tweak and make better a new version of one of Tesla’s inventions (something that is called the “Electro- Finger), which can tap into energy anywhere. Not to mention help the town of Midville live off the grid, giving them free solar energy and wireless. This makes T. Edison and Frank in conflict with one another, as T. wants all the power and light in Midville, get ‘rich rich rich’, and have the monopoly on the energy resources. There is very little time left and the three have to go up against Edison and his sentient ape, who is named Mr. Chimp.

Fans of the novel call this a genius series; it proves that you can laugh and learn something all at the same time. Fans found that this book was even better than the first in the series. Once again, Jon Scieszka has written something that will keep readers interested in the story throughout. Young boys enjoyed the story especially and found that they were given something great to read, as usually most of the books out there are for females to read. Some found that there are great illustrations that provide great scenery in the book, as well. Some found that even adults will be able to learn something from the series. Readers found that it was amusing that Frank used Tesla’s work to try and defeat his rival who was named Edison.

“Frank Einstein and the BrainTurbo” is the third novel in the “Frank Einstein” series and was released in the year 2015. In this installment, Frank creates something that he calls the BrainTurbo; it is supposed to give the human body a power-boost so that Frank’s buddy can pitch on the baseball team. When Klank disappears, they must rescue him first, and defeat T. Edison (once again) before he can steal and then use this latest invention of his against them.

Fans of the novel found that this has a great combination of slapstick comedy, science, and science fiction; not to mention, a great hero, two great sidekicks, a young villain, and his chimp villain sidekick. All of this makes for a great story. There is both high brow and low brow humor here, both for kids and stuff that is a little more sophisticated (that might be just a little over their heads).

“Frank Einstein and the EvoBlaster Belt” is the fourth novel in the “Frank Einstein” series and was released in the year 2016. Frank, Klink, Klank, and Watson must once again go up against Mr. Chimp (who is able to do sign language) and T. Edison, and make sure that he does not end up with the EvoBlaster Belt. This makes the user able to devolve and evolve into different forms of life. This makes it so that you can go from different species with just a click of a button.

Fans of the novel found that this one, once again, told a great story and still managed to sneak some great science lessons into the story. It makes some kids who do not like to read, keep on reading and gives them something to enjoy. Some found that they could not wait for the next books in the series, as this one was such a good book. It was the best yet.
