Author G. Michael Hopf was born in the year 1970, and long wished to see the entire world the first eighteen years of his life. He had a good home and loved both his siblings and parents, but his desire to see the world burned deep in him.

He went against the chance to go to a good school and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He hoped that he could truly experience life and journey all over the world. He chose infantry. He was born again in the year 1989 as a Marine on Parris Island, South Carolina.

He took a job working oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico, after leaving the Marines. It was a short lived job, and it does not pay as good as some might think, and he almost died.

After this, he became a bodyguard. It was better money, plus he thought it is much cooler to say he is a bodyguard. He was trained intensively and after graduating, he started working. The first detail he was given was protecting the Saudi Royal family in both Washington, D. C. and Beverly Hills. He met some great people that he still knows on this first detail he worked. After working for a decade, for many clients all over the world, he did not really have a solid family life.

He met a young woman in San Diego, in the year 2002. she approached him, gave him her card, and told him if he wanted a piece of land to give her a call. He noted that not only was she a real estate agent, but her name was also Land. Her name is Tahnee, and together they have two daughters, Savannah and Scarlette.

His itch to write novels returned to him in the summer of the year 2011, and he went about it by making it a career, not just a hobby. It is a choice that he has never regretted. He has helped new authors by mentoring them.

He his debut novel was released in the year 2013, it was titled “The End” and it is part of the “New World” series. He wrote this book to show the effects that would be inflicted on the nation if ever attacked by an EMP, something that Hopf is an expert on.

“The End” is the first novel in the “New World” series and was released in the year 2013. Gordon Van Zandt lived a life of loyalty and duty to his own country, he even dropped out of college to join the Marines. His youthful idealism disappeared on a fateful day in war wrecked Iraq.

Ten years have gone by since then, and he is still fighting with ghosts of a past. Now he must face this new reality that is forced on his family and him. Europe, North America, as well as the Far East have been hit by a Super EMP that is devastating. It has damaged the every electrical device as as well as the power grids.

Nothing works now. Not the phones or cars and the economic infrastructure has collapsed. He has to fight for the fast dwindling and limited resources. To survive, it will require some action on Gordon’s part, and some cooperation with his neighbors he knows that. Any civility in Gordon’s community starts to break down, as does everyone’s sense of daily life. He starts making choices that are necessary in this new world but would seem pretty extreme in modern day.

Fans of the novel found this to be an exceptional debut. It can be enjoyed by those who do not normally enjoy reading post apocalyptic fiction. It is well written with characters that feel believable, even real. The story line feels like something that could even happen in real life. This is a great book that made some fans of the author. It is a book that made it difficult for some to put down for very long.

“The Long Road” is the second novel in the “New World” series and was released in the year 2013. Six weeks have gone by since the attacks; America is just a wasteland of groups of gangs, mobs, and survivors. Millions have died. Millions suffer and will die. For Sebastian, Cruz, Samantha, Barone, and Gordon, any struggle they faced was nothing as this collapse of the society is playing out right before their own eyes.

Each of them have suffered big losses, but what is going to thrown at them will test their own sanity. Uncertainty is everywhere as they journey their own paths, as they look for a home that will be safe for them. The Long Road is going to take its toll on every single one of them. That is certain.

Fans of the novel like that with this author, no one is really safe. He also does a great job of keeping readers on edge the whole time, especially in a crowded genre where there is not a whole lot of variation on the story line front. Readers have gotten hooked to the series and can not let go for very long.

“Sanctuary” is the third novel in the “New World” series and was released in the year 2014. Months have gone by since the EMP wrecked America, and the country is already unrecognizable. The major cities are now being run by different gangs. The survivors die of starvation and the government is a victim to the lawlessness that ruling the world now. Those who believed they had properly prepared for the end are realizing they were not prepared at all.

Some are looking for vengeance for the losses they have racked up, while others look to restore the nation to how it was. Samantha, Gordon,
Sebastian, Pablo, Connor, and Barone may be on different paths, but
it is clear they all search for a home that is far from the chaos.
They seek a sanctuary.

Fans of the novel found this to be the best installment of the series yet, in part because they connected with those character in the book this time around. The book does a great job of continuing this very fascinating story, and somehow the author was able to up his game, writing wise.
