Publication Order of Standalone Novels

Gemma Rogers
Gemma Rogers lives with her two daughters, husband, and beloved bulldog in West Sussex. Gemma writes gritty thrillers with vivid female protagonists.

Her love of writing started early in her teen teen years, inspired by hours spent buried in Christopher Pike, Point Horror, Richard Laymon with the odd Judy Blume tossed in for good measure.

Other passions of Gemma’s include movies, especially horror, since who doesn’t love a good scare, swimming, bulldog walks, and anything that involves cake.

Gemma loves watching stories come to life on the page. When the words that she is writing are flowing and moving the story along. It is compulsive. And her brain is just fit to bursting with ideas all of the time and she absolutely must get them down on paper before they vanish.

She has not suffered writer’s block yet, although typically if she gets stuck on some scene then she will take a long bath or go for a walk. This can usually help her untangle any thoughts and she’s then able to work through what she wants to happen and how she’d be able to get there.

“Stalker” is the first stand alone novel and was released in 2019. Eve Harding’s world implodes on a Sunday morning when she gets violently assaulted and raped while walking to a South London train station.

While her attacker continues to evade the cops and is left to just roam the streets in order to stalk his next victim, Eve must seek her assailant out before he can strike again.

Eve, with vengeance on her mind, is determined to track him down in time and get justice on her terms. In a game of cat and mouse, who exactly is stalking who?

A gritty crime thriller that asks exactly how far would you go in order to seek justice.

This is an atmospheric and taut thriller which hooks you on the first page and keeps you captivated throughout. All of the emotions seem loaded with real hurt, frustration, anger, a feeling of helplessness, and then the need for retribution.

“Payback” is the second stand alone novel and was released in 2020. A dark secret and one deadly score to settle.

In the year 1997, teen Sophie White and her three girlfriends decide they would like to lose their innocence before summer’s end. Sophie, who ropes in her childhood friend Gareth and his friends, holds a party to just get ‘the deed’ over and done, however the night does not quite go as it was planned.

Twenty years later, and the group get brought back together when Gareth gets killed in a car wreck and Sophie starts to get threatening messages. Seems that this party they had was not all innocent as everybody believed and now there is somebody that wants payback.

Readers found this to be a beautifully written edge of your seat thriller from an exciting new voice, which keeps you guessing until the very end. This one has drama, friendships, suspense, sadness, and a whole lotta mystery. You want to know how this is all going to end, but you never want it to ever actually end.

“Reckless” is the third stand alone novel and was released in 2020. A life changing moment of madness.

Izzy Cole, an English teacher, just wanted a fresh start with her family. A new home, a new town, and a new school. When a sixth form student named Nicky Stevens takes a special interest in her, she is flattered at first.

However while their dangerous friendship starts teetering on the edge of something much more, alarm bells go undetected and a moment of madness leads to some devastating repercussions. Izzy quickly finds her career, her family, and her very life hanging in the balance while she becomes his darkest obsession.

This is an absorbing read because of a believable scenario, authentic characters that you are invested in from the start, and a few surprising twists. Gemma delivers an immersive and intense story that is well paced, with a second half that is chilling and dark.

“Bad Girls” is the fourth stand alone novel and was released in 2021. No body, no crime, and therefore no time.

Can you ever truly escape from your past? Jess Strickland, newly released from prison, has only six months’ probation to serve until she is free to get on with the life that she left behind four years ago.

Jess, without many options available, takes a job at Brights’, an industrial laundry company along with some other ex-cons, all of whom eager to keep their noses clean.

While here, she finds an ally in a woman named Karla however she soon learns that her new boss Terry is not all that he appears. Realizing that she is no safer now that she is on the outside she refuses to just be a victim anymore. exactly how far is she going to go in order to avoid heading back to prison?

Gemma delivers another harrowing read that is sure to make your skin crawl while you read, and keeps you gripped on the story, to the point where you’re actually sorry to see it end. Right when you believe you know what’s going to happen next, just to you find out you’re dead wrong.

“The Babysitter” is the fifth stand alone novel and was released in 2021. It was every mom’s worst nightmare.

Christopher and Ali Tolfrey’s one year old daughter, named Eden, is abducted whilst being watched by Ali’s best friend. Snatched while in broad daylight from Bushy Park on a trip to the swings, she disappears without a trace.

Brooke Simmons, while dazed from a blow to the head, regains consciousness, only to find that Eden is missing. Somebody’s taken Eden and Brooke knows who did it.

However it’s a secret that she is unable to share with the Police or Ali without also revealing the web of deceit that she has spun. Can Brooke get Eden back home before her lies come back to haunt her? Or could the net be closing in on her?
