George H. McVey is an author of historical romance and inspirational books popularly known for his Redemption Tales series and Mail Order Brides of Sanctuary. He’s always wanted to be a superhero, and unfortunately, no animals or storms have been a part of his life. By chance, while narrating a story to his Family, it was suggested that he could write books thanks to his experiences in ministry. Since then, George has always dedicated his creative imagination to writing books, which can be found on Amazon. George is a resident of Almost Heaven, West Virginia. He lives with his wife and their service dog, Daisy Mae. Their three children and grandsons often visit them.

George H. McVey began his Redemption Tales series in 2012 with the publication of Redeeming Reputation. The series contains a total of six books, with the fourth, Redeeming Love, written in collaboration with Sophie Dawson, who also writes historical romance books. Two of the most notable books in McVey’s series are Redeeming Reputation and Redeeming Family books.

Redeeming Tales is one of the best Western book series you will ever read. The series features adorable characters. For instance, David Nathaniel Ryder, a handsome, well-educated, quick with guns, well-mannered preacher.

We first meet Nathan on a train bound for Franklin, Missouri. During the travel, two outlaws board the train and start demanding money and other valuables from the passengers. Nathan willingly hands over his money, but when one of the outlaws strikes a young boy with his gun, Nathan takes action. He cleverly outwits the two outlaws and restrains them with ropes until the Sheriff arrives.

Nathan’s original destination is Franklin, where he plans to meet his grandfather. From there, they’ll travel to Redemption, New Mexico, where Nathan will become a circuit-riding preacher. However, upon reaching Franklin, Nathan receives a telegram informing him of his grandfather’s passing. While checking into a hotel, he witnesses a beautiful woman being harassed by a drunk who mistakes her for a woman of ill repute. Nathan intervenes to protect her, and the drunk draws his gun. But he immediately finds himself staring down the barrel of his gun. In a short time, the entire town knows about Nathan, and he gains a reputation as a quick-draw gunslinger.

Initially, Nathan, dressed in his stylish Eastern attire, faces some resistance from the people in Franklin. However, when they learn he is the grandson of David Nathaniel Ryder, also known as Nugget Nate Ryder, a successful miner, they welcome him with open arms. Grace Hopewell, the woman Nathan saved from the drunk, is in town to meet “Uncle Nate” as he’s arranged a teaching job for her in Redemption, New Mexico, and was supposed to accompany her there. Nathan must remain in Franklin to meet with his grandfather’s lawyer, and during this meeting, he’s in for a surprise when the will is read.

After the will reading, Nathan is eager to head west to Redemption, but he’s been given the nickname “Preacher” due to his gunfighting skills. Every outlaw in the area seems to want a showdown with him. All Nathan wants is to get to Redemption and fulfill what he believes is God’s plan for him. However, each time he tries to do God’s work, another gunslinger challenges him, leading to an increasing body count.

George McVey skillfully develops the plot, characters, dialogues, and action scenes, immersing readers in the world of Franklin. The characters and actions feel real, allowing readers to experience the challenges and frustrations faced by Nathan and Grace.
The book emphasizes Nathan’s faith and his determination to do God’s work, which adds depth to the story. Nathan’s struggle to reconcile his reputation as a gunslinger with his desire to be a man of God and a peacemaker creates an engaging narrative. The adventures of Nathan and the budding romance with Grace offer entertainment and humor throughout the book.
Redeeming Family is the last installment in Redeeming Tales by George H. McVey. Nathan and Grace Ryder have come back to the town of Redemption after being away for a year and a half. Things in the town have changed, and not all of these changes seem positive to Nathan. His father has transformed into a devout man of faith and a caring parent, and he’s revealed long-held secrets that have completely altered Nathan’s understanding of things.

As if the family dynamics weren’t enough to handle, there’s an imposter who claims to be English and has taken control of the town. With a corrupt law enforcement team misusing the town’s resources, a gang of outlaws causing havoc among the local ranchers and farmers, and a killer lurking in the shadows, the town is in dire need of help, and the preacher, presumably Nathan, has a tough task ahead.

Can the Ryder family, along with their friends, unite to save their town? Will they be able to mend old wounds and misunderstandings? And will Aggie Cutler finally get to use her shotgun? It’s going to take a couple of miracles to rescue Redemption and make the Ryders a redeeming family.

The characters in McVey’s story are brilliantly crafted and highly relatable. They set the stage for a heartwarming story about good people. The narrative also focuses on the preacher’s mission to spread God’s message, with plenty of unexpected twists and challenges that keep him from leaving town. The story is filled with suspense, keeping readers engaged as they eagerly turn the pages. George H. McVey skillfully combines action, friendship, romance, drama, thrills, and humor, demonstrating remarkable storytelling abilities and a knack for keeping readers enthralled. The story offers delightful and multifaceted reading experience.
