Gil Jackman is an author of fiction from New Zealand.

The author has served in a variety of positions and posts. He has served as a Royal Marine, a Sergeant in a ranger squadron, served as part of the SAS, and has also worked in the New Zealand police force as a detective and sergeant.

He has been a Chief of Security with three stripes serving on cruise ships and helping to keep them safe. Jackman has channeled much of his experience into his fictional stories, writing from his own memories, experiences, and jobs with first hand knowledge.

Gil says that he mainly writes in the crime fiction genre but has written in most and covered a bit of everything except for romance. In addition to writing full length novels, he has also written several short pieces. His short stories have been published in a variety of magazines, particularly when short story magazines were prominent in the United Kingdom.

He says that his short stories fall into a variety of genres. He has always had a passion for writing and does so often. However, he has noted that the world of publishing has changed over the years. Gil did ask his grandchildren if they had ever read Charles Dickens and they could recount the titles of stories and characters– but said they hadn’t read the works but seen them on television!

Gil Jackman has traveled to places all over the world for the purposes of work and seeing the globe. He currently makes his home in France.

La Vie de Paris is one of his fictional books. It was first published as a paperback in 2008. The story concerns the story of Toby Edgeworth. He first came to Paris and saw the city as a young child. He was on holiday with his family and it was 1912.

The trip was enjoyable and opened Toby’s eyes to the wonders of Paris, the city of love. The famed city and his visit there ended far earlier than he would have liked. However, having fallen for the charms of this place, Toby made himself a promise that he would go back one day as soon as he could.

He was able to make this journey to Paris in 1923 and made good on his intent to come back. Having returned this one time, Toby already knew that he would do everything that he could to spend his entire life living in Paris. There was simply no other place for him to be.

Toby once worked as a journalist. He penned a column for a British daily newspaper. Now years later, another journalist works for this newspaper. James Brogan has been given the assignment of finding out what did end up happening to Toby all these years later.

Toby’s writing for the paper resulted in a column that described what was in the minds and imaginations of the people of Paris during the times between the first and the second world war. Now it is up to Brogan to try and discover what this man has been doing. James finds out that Toby is still alive, and so perhaps there is hope for his story yet.

Thrilled to meet up with him, the journalist starts to get to know Toby and they even develop a close relationship and rapport between them. Toby wants this journalist to cover more than just one profile of him, however: he wants James to actually help him by telling his entire life story.

This would include his memories of Paris when the city was brimming with artistic and creative promise and a celebration of the good life. It was a new golden age, and it was a wonderful place to be and live as well as visit. Paris was coming alive and it was a thrilling time to be there.

It turns out that the relationship between the two men is to be a long one. Over the course of the six years that they spend together, James takes down the stories and recollections of his friend and listens to what he has to say about one of the most glamorous and romantic times in the history of this grand city.

It is up to James to bring these stories to life and tell of Toby’s memories in his own lyrical way, perhaps bringing some of the joy of that time to current readers today in the process. His memoir of Toby’s time in Paris tells of the places he has been and the things that he has seen, and along the way includes some of the most classic places in Paris.

From the Grande boulevards to people dining and drinking coffee with friends on terraces and at cafes to touring the famed Luxembourg Gardens or strolling along the Champs Elysee and taking in the sights, there is so much for Brogan to take down. Experience all of Toby’s memories for yourself in this fictional passport to Paris from celebrated author Jackman!

Cruise came out in 2009. The book is a fictional story that brings back the character of Brogan once more. This fictional novel is an exclusive look at not only cruise ships but the state of the seas as well from someone who has worked as security on these types of ships before– and was hired for a good reason!

As it turns out, pirates are not simply a thing of the past. Modern day piracy is a real thing and it turns out that the activity did not die out when the likes of Blackbeard faded into the past. Now in places like the Gulf of Aden, the South China Seas, the Malacca Straits, the Brazilian islands, and more, pirates find their havens and plundering grounds.

A major cruise line has not had a ship be taken over since 1985. That doesn’t mean that it can’t happen, however. Brogan knew a man named Riordan from his past. Now they might just have to join forces to try and save a cruise ship. Can they work together and collaborate to make it happen? Read Cruising by Gil Jackman to find out!
