Gillian Harvey is a romance, literary fiction, and general fiction author from France.

The author grew up very shy as a child and used to blush and barely spoke unless it was with her closest friends. It was only when she was a teacher that she managed to project confidence, even though she believes it was for the most time role-playing.
Since she was always shy, she found an escape behind her keyboard where she could pour her humor and personality into books.

Despite being very shy, she would rise through the ranks while working as a teacher and would become Head of the English Department.

She embarked on her freelance writing career in 2012 after she and her husband moved to France. Over the years, she has worked for many publications in the United States and the United Kingdom
Some of the prestigious publications that she has worked for include the likes of the Independent, Guardian, Woman’s Weekly, and Home Feel Good You among many others.

Gillian Harvey is also the author of “Under the Covers,” a monthly column usually featured in the likes of Prima Baby, Living France, and Writing Magazine. She is also a regular contributor of short stories to My Weekly and Take a Break Fiction Feast.

Like many authors, dreams of becoming a writer were something that Gillian Harvey had, even though it would take a while before the dream was achieved.

She was only five years old when she realized that she wanted to become an author. It was at this tender age that the read “The Garden Gang,” which would become one of her favorite books.

This was a fiction work that had been penned by Jayne Fisher, one of the youngest ever publishers at Ladybird at only nine years old. She started thinking that if another kid could do it, why not her?

However, it would take almost four decades and dozens of unpublished manuscripts before she would become a published author. In 2012, she began writing freelance for a range of newspapers and magazines.
In 2016, she was in a fog of tiredness writing freelance when she began penning the manuscript for her debut work “Everything is Fine.” She was then feeling lost as she had to take care of six kids all under five and also write articles for magazines.
Luckily, she managed to negotiate with her husband who would take her kids while she wrote for an hour or two. By the end of 2018, she completed her manuscript and published her debut in 2020.

Gillian Harvey currently makes her home in a small house in rural France. It is here that she has her small office that overlooks an enormous garden with a forest of trees beyond it. She has penned most of her novels right from that small office.
When Harvey is not penning her novels, she can usually be found trying to learn how to relax. She will often hit the treadmill several times a week and sometimes do Pilates.

Nonetheless, she has five children and can never lack something to do. There are many times when she has taken her children and together one to visit the lakes nearby.

Gillian Harvey’s novel “A Year at the French Farmhouse” is a witty and warm romantic read that introduces Lily Butterworth.

After a decade of loyal service, she suddenly finds herself made redundant. Similar to any other clever woman, she recognizes that the cure to such things is her best friend and some wine.

Having had too much wine, she wakes up with a hangover and a huge surprise, she is the owner of a new house in the French countryside. Rather than seeing it as a disaster, she takes it as an opportunity and is excited that she will get to live in France.
This is a dream that Lily and her husband have had for decades. However, she is in for a huge surprise as her husband comes out to say he is not interested in moving to France despite making plans for more than two decades.
Lily decides to go anyway and spend a year in France as she renovates the beautiful but ancient house which is held together by wishes and wallpaper.

Is a year spent at the farmhouse be the balm she needs or maybe the answer to her dreams is Frederique, the previous owner of her new house?

“One French Summer” by Gillian Harvey is the intriguing story of a woman named Katy whose life has not been going as planned.

She had been on what was supposed to be an ordinary holiday but now it may turn out to be a second chance she did not know she desperately needed.
She had been at a loss after her husband asked for a break while her only daughter was living in Australia.

Luckily, she has her friends Ivy, Vicky, and Sam who have always been there for her in times of need. They are determined to stand with her and invite her to a last-minute retreat in France.
All she knows is that it is an opportunity to get her life back on track. But as she relaxes in the country alongside her friends, the pain of the events that had transpired slowly begins to melt away.
Will this be the reset that Kary needs to win back her husband and get a new lease on life? Maybe she could just find new love where she least expects it.

Gillian Harvey’s novel “Everything is Fine” is the story of Jessica Bradley, a woman who seems to have it all.

She has Anna a wonderful daughter, owns a successful public relations company, runs an influential healthy eating blog, and has the perfect boyfriend to boot.

However, the truth is that she has been dumped by her boyfriend who sent her the break-up message in a post it. She no longer has any zest for healthy eating and has been caught eating Coco Pops that belonged to her daughter.
Since she depended on her online life to drive her PR success, that seems to be going down the tubes too.

People say to fake it till you make it and she is hoping she can keep up appearances with a few phony smiling selfies a few white lies.
But then her real life is spinning out of control and she no longer can tell what is true and what is lies in her own life.

However, it is at this moment that she is presented with an opportunity for real happiness if only she can seize it.
