Ginny Aiken is a former newspaper reporter and bestselling author from Northwest Indiana, where she lives with her husband and two youngest children.
With two of her eldest children having left the coop as adults who have gone on to start their own families, she is also the proud grandmother to two grandchildren.
The author was born in Havana the Cuban capital but spent her childhood in Caracas and Valencia in Venezuela. From very early on, she developed a love for books, even as she engaged in ballet with the Venezuelan National Ballet Company.
Fortunately, she left ballet behind as a sixteen-year-old and would go on to have stints as a mother, reporter, wife, paralegal, retail salesperson, language teacher, and choreographer.
The general romance, historical romance, and inspirational author published “Love Evergreen” her debut novel in 1993, and has shown no signs of slowing down since.
For her fiction works, she has won several awards including a Romantic Times Reader’s Choice award and a Mid America Romance Writers award.
Aiken was inspired to pen her debut novel “Love Evergreen” from a perceptive comment from one of the reviewers of the historicals she wrote.
Ginny then went on to pen her work reflecting on the reality of her spiritual journey. She penned a work that showcases how scripture always remains relevant regardless of the people whose story is being told.
Ginny Aiken has been known to do a lot of research on her novels since she always intends to portray reality just as it is.
She will usually dive into mountains of historical research often getting into obscure details whenever she pens any of her historical or romance novels.
When she is writing her inspirational novels, she will usually read all manner of commentaries on different scriptural aspects. For instance, she once read a lot of commentaries on Queen Esther, absorbed the material, and then marinated it. She then distilled it into a coherent story reflecting circumstances similar to those that Quen Esther had to deal with.
Outside of her writing, Ginny Aiken loves to share her passion for storytelling and has taught creative fiction at workshops and seminars at Penn State University and Harrisburg Pennsylvania Area Community College.
Aiken is also a popular speaker at several writers and Christian women’s workshops. She also loves to interact with her readers and fans on social media and particularly on Facebook.
She also has a newsletter where she provides important updates on upcoming works and bonus content from already published works.
Ginny Aiken’s novel “Design on a Crime” is a beautiful inspirational work that introduces Haley. She has just started her new design business but has been feeling very nervous, even though Marge her best friend has been constantly encouraging her.
She has gone through a lot in the past few years and her outlook does seem to be clouded by personal tragedy.
This has also negatively impacted her faith in God and things only get worse when her mother passes on just when she is starting her new career trajectory.
One of the biggest rooting sections at the company was led by Marge and hence when she is found dead at the auction Haley could not have been more shocked.
She had been killed at the very place where Haley was supposed to be meeting her first potential client which makes it all the more stunning.
Haley soon discovers she is the sole heir to the dead woman’s property but things are complicated as she was the one that stumbled upon the body.
She is overwhelmed by grief but will now need to get to work to find out who killed Marge if she is not to go to jail.
Combining mystery with the struggle for faith, the story makes for an excellent Christian mystery fiction work.
“Decorating Scheme” by Ginny Aiken introduces Haley Ferrell, a man that has just been contracted by a prominent plastic surgeon to redecorate his home. Alongside him is Dutch Merill who will be assisting him in his work.
When the latter comes to make initial assessments of the house and as the lady of the home is showing her around, they stumble upon a dead girl lying in a pool of blood.
The police show up and start narrowing their list of suspects, as they investigate Dutch who once had a relationship with the parents of the dead girl. In fact, the relationship with the dead girl could not have been deeper as she is the godmother.
With the noose tightening around her, she asks Haley to help her. Haley immediately gets into action trying to find out the reasons why the girl was killed and who could have been behind it.
It makes for a great mystery with several detours into the romantic lives of the different characters that make for some interesting reading. The great thing about this novel is that it is very realistic and the Christian focus is not too overpowering.
Ginny Aiken does a great job bringing to life the struggles of the characters to life even as she sprinkles in aspects of spirituality and inspiration into the story.
Ginny Aiken’s novel “Interior Motives” sees Haley Farrell the bullheaded, klutzy, and quirky interior designer make a comeback in the last novel of the “Deadly Decor Mysteries.”
Dutch Merril the contractor and Haley Farrell the interior designer often argue over just about anything. Could this be the beginning of an exciting new romance as they work on the renovation project granted to them by Marlene Weikert.
Things get interesting when the client dies under mysterious circumstances and Harley believes there could be foul play.
Written in the first person, “Interior Motives” shows the inner workings of Haley and her snark which always makes readers laugh. She has such great chemistry with Dutch Merrill, which has made everyone acknowledge that they deserve each other.
While it does seem that they have an exciting budding romance, their journey which sometimes has them almost killing each other and sometimes working together so well makes for interesting reading.
