Ginny Baird is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author of romance and paranormal romance books. Her stories feature a dash of humor and a lot of heart. She has published novels both online and in print and also received several screenplay options from Hollywood for her family and romance comedy scripts. Ginny’s fiction work has been published in Australia, the United States, Brazil, Norway, and Denmark and translated into different languages. She writes heartwarming contemporary stories full of laughter, love, and happily ever after.
The Duplicate Bride is the first novel in Blue Hill Brides, first published in 2020. This book shines due to its compelling characters. Hope, our central character, is a truly remarkable protagonist. She exudes kindness, empathy, and unwavering support- a stark contrast to her self-absorbed and demanding twin, who’s too occupied with work to attend her pre-wedding functions.
Family bonds are strong, and when your sister is in a bind, you will go to great lengths to assist. Even if it involves something you’re initially uncomfortable with. When Jackie, Hope’s sister, asks her to stand in for her during the pre-wedding festivities at her fiancé’s family estate, Hope is initially reluctant. However, Jackie’s pleas and a touch of guilt-tripping eventually sway Hope. She agrees to help, making it clear to Brent that she’s not Jackie but will do her utmost to be of assistance.
An impulsive decision arises in response to Brent’s grandfather’s pressure to settle down. The solution they come up with involves Hope stepping into the role of Jackie in a mutually beneficial arrangement. Despite Hope’s determination to be herself and not her sister, she’s quickly drawn into the role of Jackie.
Brent, on the other hand, grapples with internal conflicts. He must navigate familial expectations and reconcile them with his desires, which is why he’s been hesitant to settle down. Brent seems unsure of what he truly wants, especially in terms of his career, often making choices based on what he believes his family expects. As he spends more time with Hope, he becomes more attuned to his desires and needs.
The story’s side characters, including Brent’s family and Hope’s mother, add depth and flavor to the narrative. Hope’s carefree mom brings a sense of joy, while Brent’s family members exude warmth and love. It becomes clear early in the story that Hope is a much better fit for Brent than her sister. The chemistry between Hope and Brent is simply fantastic.
Hope and Brent share an instant connection, not because Hope is pretending to be Brent’s betrothed. Brent confesses that he’s never felt such a strong connection with his fiancée before. However, this revelation isn’t surprising, given that Brent has never met Hope, and his relationship with Jackie is more of a business arrangement than a genuine romantic connection. As they spend more time together, their emotional barriers begin to crumble, and their bond deepens. They are a couple worth rooting for, and readers will hope that as the truth unfolds, they’ll find their well-deserved happily ever after.
The Christmas Catch is the first novel in the Holiday Brides series by Ginny Baird. The Christmas Catch” is a heartwarming and charming romance set in the picturesque Christmas season of Vermont. The story revolves around Christine and her young son. They are leaving the bustling city of Chicago for a mandated Christmas vacation in the idyllic beauty of New England. This Christmas promises to be different, with fewer modern electronic distractions and a return to more traditional holiday celebrations.
Christine works for her friend Ellen’s greeting card company, where she writes beautiful prose and creates illustrations. She aspires to launch her line of greeting cards under her name, but for now, it remains a distant dream. Her life has been upended by the recent loss of her husband, Dan, in a distant war, and she’s struggling to keep her emotional balance. In her attempts to cope, she’s become consumed by work, inadvertently sidelining her son Tyler. When Ellen insists that Christine take a house-sitting enforced vacation, she has a chance to unwind, refocus on her son, and relax for two weeks. Little does she know that these two weeks will transform her life.
As for John, he has no immediate plans for romance, love, or marriage. His career at the university is on the upswing, and relationships don’t align with his current goals. However, that doesn’t mean he can’t enjoy a few carefree weeks introducing Christine and Tyler to the joys of a New England winter and the Christmas season, as long as Christine doesn’t get the wrong idea.
The novel primarily follows John and Christine’s delightful and heartwarming romance. Once you start reading, it’s hard to put the book down until the end, leaving you with a warm heart. Suppose you’re seeking a short, sweet, and enjoyable romance to savor during the holiday season. In that case, The Christmas Catch is the perfect choice for a quick, heartwarming read, whether you’re curled up by a cozy fire or stealing a moment in your busy schedule.
The Sometime Bride, published in 2011, is the story of Carrie St. John, a successful financier who has faced numerous romantic setbacks in her life. Her most recent blow comes when her fiancé abandons her just before her bridal shower. Left in a tough spot, Carrie can’t bear to show up alone and admit failure to her family. It’s during this challenging moment that she crosses paths with Mike Davis at a historic country inn. Mike, a recently single and attractive guy, offers to be her companion for the occasion. But this seemingly generous offer comes with a catch.
Mike Davis had longed to prove his old high school friends wrong. He had been voted “most likely to remain a bachelor” in his prestigious prep school class, and he had looked forward to bringing his fiancée to his upcoming reunion to silence the doubters. However, with no fiancée by his side, Mike devises a new plan involving the incredibly alluring and accomplished Carrie. What he didn’t anticipate was that his heart would be on the line. Similarly, Carrie is about to discover that there are some things that even money can’t buy, and she finds herself drawn into a complicated situation.
