Author Glenda Manus was born and raised in the south. It means she says yes ma’am and no ma’am, bakes casseroles for her sick friends and funerals, sends thank you cards, and likes to visit her friends over glasses of sweet tea.

Her writing is both Southern and inspirational, which to her are one and the same. Her characters are all filled with both charm and grace. The fictional town of Park Place, South Carolina, where they go about their lives on a daily basis, will make you want to take up residence there. This town is much like the one her husband and Theo, their cat, call home.

Her work is part of the “Southern Grace” series, which can be read as stand alone novels. They have their own blend of characters and plot, and are sure to satisfy any reader’s thirst for good and clean family fiction.

“Sweet Tea and Southern Grace” is the first novel in the “Southern Grace” series, which was released in the year 2013. Park Place, South Carolina is a sleepy, idyllic tiny town that is filled with folks dripping with Southern hospitality and charm. Drinking sweet iced tea out of heirloom glasses, rocking on their front porches while they indulge in some innocent gossip is their way of life here.

Reverend Rock Clark is the middle-aged preacher of the town’s Presbyterian Church in the town and has made peace with the proven fact that he is “unlucky in love” and is to remain a bachelor. He has become rather settled in his life, but all of a sudden a major car accident that involves a mysterious young lady and her daughter turns him into a detective. He tries to track down the five year old kid’s dad while her mom is in a coma, and gets help from Liz, his neighbor and an attractive widow. While he hunts down the kid’s relatives, Rock’s comfy life gets uncomfortable quickly when he walks into a tangled web of deceit and some misguided intentions.

Things finally calm down and Liz goes to her mountain cabin when she realizes that she has feelings for Rock that go beyond the friendship stage. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder, and her being gone makes him baffled and confused at just how much he misses her. Is he going to once again allow love to slip right through his fingers?

The characters are great people you will fall in love with, and the story line is excellent to boot. For some, this was a superb read from the first page until the very last. The author is able to pull you right into this story to the point to where you actually feel like you are a part of Park Place.

“Lighting the Way” is the second novel in the “Southern Grace” series, which was released in the year 2014. This book also focuses on Rev Rock and his new wife, Liz. It is Christmastime and main street is livened up with storefront displays, busy shoppers, and twinkling Christmas trees. All while the town gets ready for its most exciting season of the entire year. Candle lit street lamps, Christmas parades, and kid’s Christmas pageants jazz up the holiday spirit. Not everyone in town is celebrating, however.

Maria comes to Park Place in an effort to get away from an abusive husband. Broken in both spirit and body, her goal is just to try to survive and keep the baby she is carrying safe, at first. Maria is slowly introduced to the good folk of the Southern town, and she comes to believe that compassion and kindness can lead her out of her dark former life.

Right when she is overcoming the obstacles, she is gripped by fear after seeing her husband’s car in the town. How was he able to locate her and what is she going to have to do to protect herself? Rev Rock and his flock of Presbyterians in the small church with a bell tower help out to make this one Christmas story that Maria will be unable to forget.

“High Tide at Pelican Pointe” is the third novel in the “Southern Grace” series, which was released in the year 2015. Rock and Liz, who is very pregnant, are making plans to take a much needed vacation at the beach and leave behind the business of his growing congregation. They have been given ten days at Miss Edie’s Pelican Pointe beach house with three whole days by themselves before rowdy Clark family joins them on their annual pilgrimage off to the sea.

Even though the Clarks add in a lot of adventure and fun to this vacation, Liz is still a bit overwhelmed by all of the activity and drama of a big family. She quickly fits right in, and begins to love each and every one of them.

Liz and Rock are going to need their support takes a sudden turn, going from a few days of tranquility and quiet near the sea to sinister happenings on the west end of the island. Hold on to your hats, because there is trouble in paradise for both Rock and Liz.

“The Melancholy Moon” is the fourth novel in the “Southern Grace” series, which was released in the year 2016. A cottage located by the sea is a great summer vacation spot for healing old and new wounds and bonding for Cassandra Phillips (a divorced romance writer) and Eleanor, her sister. Fresh, salt air and gentle breezes make them think it will be a relaxing and quiet summer.

Blue eyed and mesmerizing Carl McGee moves in next door, and Cassie’s resolution to never fall for a guy starts to dissolve. Rumors surface of a drug-smuggling ring along the Carolina coastline. They set off warning bells that there is something off in paradise and it makes Cassie question Carl and who he really is.

Could he really be the gentleman he appears to be or is he just a criminal currently laying low in this small coastal town?
