Some of the most popular people in the writing and journalism are radio show hosts and television anchors. This is mostly because they can catch the attention of everyone on a national level. Glenn Beck was is was both a radio talk show and television host, so these two aspects alone made him be a very popular person who achieved global recognition for his outspoken voice on issues affecting the nation. Glenn currently lives in Philadelphia with his wife.

Early life

Glenn was born in 1964 on the tenth day of February in a place called Mount Vernon which was located in Washington. The parents of Glenn were Bill and Mary Beck. Glenn had two other siblings. From a tender age, Glenn showed some considerable interest in radio. His interest seemed to have been sparked by his mom at the age of eight during his birthday when hiss momma gave him a collection of shows and as you must have guessed it’s from that time that he fell in love with anything that was related to the radio.

Glenn had this habit of locking himself up in his bedroom and imitate the voices he heard on the radio as he recorded them on a voice recorder. At the age of 13 Beck had already tasted the sweetness of being in the limelight. A local radio station put up a contest for a guest DJ, of course, it was a walkover for Glenn as his practice had perfected what was needed. That’s how Beck got his first job on the radio.

Two years later an opportunity presented itself for a DJ job in Seattle, and he applied. He was hired immediately even though he had never met his employers. When he went to work his bosses were surprised at the tender age of Glenn and the job responsibilities he would be shouldering. He worked every weekend there for some time. His parents divorced when he was thirteen; this divorce was accelerated by the fact that his mom was fighting with alcohol and depression. His mother died at the age of 41. Her death was a mystery as she had supposedly gone fishing with her friend and her body was found floating in the waters, that was in 1979 may.

Young income earner

The death of his mother forced Beck to go back with his father to Bellingham, and that’s where he finished his high school studies. After graduation, he never continued with education but instead chased his big dreams to New York City. He was involved in numerous radio stations for over a decade as he sharpened his skills in this industry. Due to his commitments and hard work as young as twenty-one he was earning a figure slightly exceeding $70000.

Change in ideologies

As Glenn grew professionally so did his ego and his knowledge of the various issues happening in the country and the emerging trends. He became defensive and hated any form of competition, and an example is given when he covered his rival’s house with stickers in support of Glenn’s radio station. The U.S bombing of Libya on 1986 had sparked something in Glenna; the notion of fighting for the rights of the oppressed. He became more involved in political matters of the nation as he engaged his listeners in his radio shows.

Glenn’s undoing

Glenn’s life was just as complicated as that of his mother. He was a regular drinker and became so dependent on alcohol and drugs. In fact, he claimed that he had started smoking pot as early as 15 years. The drugs and alcohol had a devastating effect on his career, and it almost ruined it completely as he even failed to turn up to his morning shows at times due to hangovers and inconsistencies.

Shifting mode of living

He had been married and had two daughters before the marriage hit rock bottom. He had even contemplated suicide at some point due to the challenges he was facing in his life. He decided to embark on a spiritual journey as he quit the marijuana and alcohol. He was eventually able to get on track and even remarried. However even if he was able to come back to get his radio station show up and to run it, though it was still far from what he had achieved previously. Glenn used the controversy around the 2000 presidential election as a stepping stone to take his show to the top.

Television personality

When the 9/11 attacks Beck got a job as a syndicate. Two years later he was hired by CNN propelling his career to greater heights. While at CNN he earned high ratings for his show but one of his downsides is that he was an expert in creating controversies and disregarding the opinion of others.in 2008 he switched jobs after landing a good spot at Fox. There he took the opportunity to attack the agenda of the presidential candidates. His talks contributed to various protests regarding the amendment of several bills.

In 2009, he shifted his attention on Obama when he called him a racist, and this had numerous consequences. Several TV advertisers and promoters withdrew their support from Fox TV but Becks refusal to withdraw this remarks helped to raise the ratings of the show to the highest number that has ever been recorded. People thought he was suspended after that event, but he was not as he had gone on vacation. After vacation, he continued his jibes at Obama and his administration. He repeatedly attacked the presidential adviser thus forcing him to step down in September 2009.

Extra works

Glenns had specialized in many other fields apart from television and radio show hosting. He wrote several books including its all about slam, the immortal Nicholas, exposing the truth about guns, dreamers and deceivers, common sense, being George Washington and many others.

Dreamers and Deceivers talk about the heroes and villains who were involved in the creation of the United States and its history.

In the immortal Nicholas, Glenn explains the mythical mysteries behind Santa the man thought to be Father Christmas and reinvented who Christmas should be celebrated.

Conclusion

Most of Glenns work is in paper form as none of it have been enacted in films or plays but hoping that something will be done about it soon. Glenns is one of the greatest personality ever to walk the earth so in his support go, find his books and read them then you will understand why.
