“Girl on a Wire” is the first novel in the “Cirque American” series and was released in 2014. Horses, prancing around like salsa dancers. A ballerina, twirling around on a wire high above the audience. Trapeze artists, flying around like somersaulting falcons. And magic crackling through the air. Welcome to the Cirque American!
Sixteen year old Jules Maroni’s one dream is to follow in her dad’s footsteps as a high wire walker. When her family gets offered a prestigious role in the new Cirque American, it seems that Jules and the Amazing Maronis are finally going to get the spotlight that they deserve. However the presence of the Flying Garcias might just derail her plans. For decades now, these two rival families have avoided one another as sworn enemies.
Jules just ignores the drama and focuses all her attention on the wire, skyrocketing to fame as the girl in a red tutu that dances across the wire at death defying heights. However she finds a peacock feather, which is an infamous object of bad luck, having been planted on her costume, she just about loses her footing. She’s no choice but to get some help from Remy Garcia, the unlikeliest of people since he is the son of the Garcia clan matriarch and the absolute best trapeze artist in the whole Cirque.
While more mysterious talismans thought to possess unlucky magic continue appearing, Remy and Jules unite in order to locate this culprit. And if they aren’t able to figure out what is going on pretty quick, Jules might be the first Maroni to do the unthinkable and fall.
“Girl in the Shadows” is the second novel in the “Cirque American” series and was released in 2016. Moira Mitchell, age eighteen, grew up in the shadows of Vegas’ stage lights as her dad’s career as a magician soared. Moira, more than anything else, wants to be a magician as well, however her dad is dead set against her pursuing a magic career.
An invitation to join Cirque American falls into her possession mistakenly, she takes action. Instead of giving this highly coveted invitation to Raleigh, its intended recipient, and her dad’s worldly and handsome former apprentice, she takes off to join the Cirque. Should she be able to perform right alongside its world famous acts, she knows that she’ll be able to convince her dad that magic is her future.
However when Moira arrives, things take on this intensity she cannot control as her stage magic feels like real magic, all of a sudden. Raleigh, to distract her further, shows up none too please about her presence, as Dez, the Cirque’s cocky and intriguing knife thrower, seems to have it out for her. While tensions mount and her abilities come into question, she has to decide what is actually real and what is just an illusion. If she doesn’t figure things out in time, she might forever remain a girl in the shadows.
“Fallout” is the first novel in the “Lois Lane” series and was released in 2015. Lois Lane is beginning a new life in Metropolis. Lois, an Army brat, has lived all over, and seen all sorts of things. Some defy explanation, like the near-disaster that she witnessed in Kansas during the middle of the this one night.
However now her family is setting down roots in the big city, and she is determined to just fit it. Fly straight. Keep quiet. Right as she steps foot into her new high school, however, she can see that it’s not going to be that easy. This group known as the Warheads makes life miserable for another girl at the school. They are messing with her mind, somehow, via the high tech immersive video game that all of them play. Not cool.
Armed with her wit as well as her new snazzy job as a reporter, she’s got her sights set on solving this here mystery. However sometimes it is a bit much. Thank goodness for her maybe-more-than-a-friend, a guy that she knows just by his screenname. SmallvilleGuy.
“Not Your Average Guy” is the first novel in the “Match Made in Hell” series and was released in 2021. A paranormal romantic comedy at the (possible) end of the world. Two people falling in love, as the fate of the world rests upon their shoulders.
All that Callie really wanted was just to have a quiet weekend with her best friend. She promised that she could handle running her family’s escape room business as her mom is out of town. But instead this Satanic cult shows up, and claims that the prop spell book in one of the rooms is in fact the real deal, and they need it in order to summon the devil’s right hand. Naturally they take Callie and Mag, her friend, along with them. However when the summoning reveals this handsome demon in a leather jacket called Luke who offers to help Callie stop this cult from destroying the whole world, her night turns from odd to totally strange.
While the group attempts staying a step ahead of this cult, she finds herself being drawn to the annoying (and annoyingly handsome) Luke. However what she does not yet know is that Luke is actually Luke Morningstar, the Prince of Hell and the Devil’s son himself. Callie never did have time for love, and with the apocalypse looming, could there be room for romance when all hell is about to break loose?
Readers found this heartfelt, fun, hot, and humorous, and found they loved spending time with these characters and in this fascinating world.
