They are two men just trying to survive and passion could be the end of their careers Conversely, following the rules will cause untold heartache. But then an attack on the headquarters of the MDF will force them to choose between love and duty.
Hailey Turner’s “In the Ruins” is a thrilling continuation of the story of Captain Jamie Callahan. His superiors at the Metahuman Defense Force do not look kindly to fraternization and for once in his life, he cannot help himself. He is willing to risk having Kyle Brannigan on his bed and his team, but when they are charged with going on a clandestine mission to subvert a criminal alliance, he knows things are going to be tough. He has never put his family name on the line but now he has to do something even harder – play the role of a disgraced army man, a billionaire’s son with a lover in tow looking to craft shadowy deals in his name. The only way Jamie can be with Kyle is if he keeps it secret from his superiors. Kyle does not mind that they cannot be seen in public as long as he wakes up in Jamie’s bed. But then he realizes what he is missing when they do pretend couple and he is thrust into the world of incredible social status and wealth. He is not sure he belongs in that world but he is ready to do anything to keep his relationship with Jamie. They are surrounded by enemies and now more than ever, the trust will be critical if they are to have any future together.

When they are thrown together on a mission, Alexei is determined to ensure the safety of Alexei even as he tries to get him into his bed. As for Sean Delaney, his whole life has been spent as an undercover agent. When he is given the assignment to investigate a private military company for any criminal wrongdoing, he knows he has to use the case to get what he wants. But he does not know how to deal with his attraction to the youthful soldier or Alexei’s advances. Sean knows he should avoid Alexei but saying no to him has become an impossible task since they have already kissed. The truth can be deadly in a world full of lies. In the path of danger and the wake of betrayal, will they still be able to trust each other.
