Simon King and Dave Myers are the Hairy Bikers, two British chefs with a cheeky sense of humor and a passion for food and motorcycles who spend their days making television shows and writing books about the subject of food.

+Biography
The Hairy Bikers are the United Kingdom’s most popular cooking duo. They made a splash on the television landscape because they have big hearts and appealing personalities which accompany a passion for great food and cooking.

Their friendship has lasted decades during which time they have traveled across Britain and Europe, sampling exotic recipes, creating critically acclaimed dishes, breathing new energy into some of England’s most culinary classics and also earning big ratings for their television shows.

‘The Hairy Dieters’, the duo’s debut literary work was an unexpected hit, not only topping bestseller charts but staying at the top for several weeks. Neither Simon nor Dave knew when they first met that their collaboration would produce such magic.

Dave Myers comes from North West England. The author has lived a life far more diverse than most other celebrity chefs. For instance, he spent some time working on furnaces in a steelworks.

That was when he was a student at Goldsmith. The author was studying fine art at the time and his furnace work helped him finance his degree. An opportunity to join the BBC came quite soon after Dave left school.

At the time, the author was hired primarily to work with prosthetics in the make-up department. The opportunity opened the way for Dave to work on numerous films and television shows. He can count series like ‘Spooks’ among the projects on which he contributed his skills.

Not even Dave could have imagined as a young man that his artistic skills would take him so far. He certainly wouldn’t have predicted the success he would find in Hollywood and the journeys he would take to the African deserts.

Along the way, Dave Myers picked up many recipes. He also took to a number of exotic cultures, incorporating what he saw into the dishes he created. He was eventually joined on his journey by Simon King, the second portion of the Hairy Bikers.

Simon always stands out because of his large size and blonde beard. People with negative attitudes towards the biker lifestyle are often shocked to encounter Simon King’s infectious laugh.

There is a charm to the man that disarms even his critics, not to mention a sense of humor that has earned Simon more friends than he knows what to do with. Like Dave Myers, Simon King started out in the entertainment arena.

He was an assistant director and locations manager, and even though he got to work on projects like Harry Potter, Simon always knew that his future wasn’t in the movie business.

The author loved food. He loved eating it and he loved making it. But it was only through the support and encouragement of his family that Simon finally decided to follow his passion.

His father was especially instrumental. The man loved to travel. And whenever he came back, he would gift Simon with a new exotic ingredient. Over time, the author’s enthusiasm for food grew until he gave into it, taking his place beside Dave Myers in the Hairy Bikers.

Their decades-long friendship has served Simon and Dave well. They chose to join forces because they realized how equally passionate they both were about food and cooking. After meeting on the set of a drama and realizing how much they had in common, the pair did not hesitate to create ‘The Hairy Biker’s Cookbook’ series when BBC2 gave them the opportunity.

They proceeded to participate in the making of numerous other television shows, not to mention making guest appearances on series like ‘The Weakest Link’.

Their television work takes the Hairy Bikers all over the world. They had to take a break while Simon recovered from an aneurysm but they did not stay down for long. While their shows are primarily about cooking, they also talk, travel, sing, and even dance.

+The Hairy Dieters
Simon and Dave are foodies. They are not gluttonous. Food is the fuel that drives them. Unfortunately, being a foodie isn’t without its challenges. And for Dave and Simon, their weight has become a significant issue.

They failed to see it creep up on them over the years, but they know it isn’t too late. This book comes on the heels of the decision the pair made to lose all their excess weight.

The volume, which is subtitled ‘How to Love Food and Lose Weight’, is targeted towards those individuals who love their food but also need to find an effective method of losing weight without giving up on their passion.

Contained within the book are recipes that readers can use to make meals that are both low in calories and rich in flavor.

The Hairy Bikers know how tough it can be to survive the scourge of diet meals, not only because of their dissatisfying quantities but also because they typically lack the spark necessary to achieve contentment.

With this volume, the Hairy Bikers show their fans how they can go about preparing great lunches and dinners, possibly even a pastry or two whilst also burning bad fat. The book contains a cooking guide, helpful tips, and poignant advice.

+Good Eating
The Hairy Bikers have set the publishing landscape on fire with their ‘The Hairy Dieters’ books. ‘Good Eating’ is technically just another installment in the ‘Hairy Dieters’ series. Readers with some knowledge of Simon and Dave’s work won’t be surprised with what they encounter, this including recipes for meals with low calories.

Simon and Dave continue to attack the weight loss issue. Their goal is to show people how they can continue eating great tasting meals without adding inches to their bellies.

They avail tips showing enthusiastic cooks the best way to eliminate calories from their meals while, at the same time, maintaining the flavor. It could be argued that this book is merely a continuation of the Hairy Dieters books that came before.

The Hairy Bikers augment the strength of their cooking message with cheeky humor.
