Heather Cocks
Heather Cocks is a Notre Dame graduate, a Leo, a former reporter, a dual citizen of the UK and US, a Diet Coke addict, a die-hard sports fan, an ex-producer of America’s Next Top Model, and a sandwich enthusiast. Heather might also potentially be the reincarnated soul of Elvis Presley, who died the same day that she was born.
Along with Jessica Morgan, Heather skewer celebrity fashion crimes on Go Fug Yourself, their popular blog that they created, which pulls in millions of monthly readers and it made Entertainment Weekly’s Must List. They have covered New York Fashion Week for New York magazine, and Cosmopolitan.
Heather’s debut novel (co-written with Jessica Morgan), called “Spoiled”, was released in the year 2011. Her work is from the romance, young adult, and comedy genres.
“Spoiled” is the first novel in the “Spoiled” series and was released in the year 2011. Some say Spoiled like it is a bad thing. Molly Dix, sixteen years old, has just learned that her biological dad is Brick Berlin, a world famous movie star and a regular on the red carpet. Intrigued (and just a little bit) horrified by her own Hollywood lineage, she moves to LA and dives headfirst into the deep end of Beverly Hills celebrity life.
Right when she believes her life could not possibly get any odder, she meets her spoiled and gorgeous half sister, Brooke Berlin, who welcomes Molly to la-la land with a smothering dose of “sisterly love” however in this city, nothing is like it appears.
Set against the backdrop of tiny tanned girls, Redbull-fuelled stylists, Blackberry-wielding publicists, and popped-collar guys.
Brooke ends up being a very likable character with more to her than her spoiled brat exterior might appear. The ending is enjoyable, the characters have depth, and the novel has some great pacing and plotting. Brick, despite being your stereotypical egomaniac, is rather hilarious and underneath it all still cares about both of his daughters. Brooke and Molly engage in some crazy antics, with Brooke creatively and cleverly coming up with ways to try to get Molly to move back to where she came from or Molly siding with Brooke’s enemy to get her revenge.
“Messy” is the second novel in the “Spoiled” series and was released in the year 2012. Brooke Berlin, age sixteen, catches a taste of fame and her move star dad’s attention, she decides it is finally time to take her career to the next level and launch her blog that is going to position her as a Hollywood “It Girl” that tells it like it really is. However between shopping, schoolwork, and spray-tan appointments, she barely has enough time to write it herself.
Enter Max McCormack, who is a green haired outsider, and an aspiring writer with a horrible after-school job pushing faux meat onto the macrobiotic masses. He loathes the celebrity scene nearly as much as he doesn’t like Brooke, however wooed by quite an impressive salary, he reluctantly agrees to play Brooke’s ghost poster and the site begins to take off. How long is their lie going to last? Can the girls possibly work with each other to stay on top, or is the truth going to come out and ruin all that they have built?
Along with an entourage made up of scruffy rocker wannabes, sushi-scarfing socialites, and fame hungry starlets, the cast of “Spoiled” has returned for another adventure in Tinseltown.
“The Royal We” is the first novel in the “Royal We” series and was released in the year 2015. An American girl finds her prince in this royal romance inspired by Kate Middleton and Prince William.
American Bex Porter was never one that believed in fairytales. Lacey, her twin sister, was the romantic and always had been. The one that daydreamed about becoming a princess. However it is adventure-seeking Bex that attends Oxford and meets dreamy Nick right across the hall, and Bex that finds herself falling in love accidentally with the heir to the British throne.
Nick is wonderful, yet he still comes with an unimaginable amount of baggage: hysterical tabloids that track every move he makes, a complex family, and a public which expected its future king to marry a Brit. On the eve of the most talked-about wedding of the entire century, she looks back on just how much she has had to give up to have true love, and exactly whose heart she might yet have to break.
The novel realistically covers dating and marrying a prince, with the horrors of actually being a royal. This is a really cute read, and it is easy to fall in love with the endearing and charming characters and the story right off the bat. Bex’s parents are simply hilarious and absolutely great people. The romance aspect of the book is flawed perfection, with great inside jokes, the sweet moments, tough times, and little things.
“The Heir Affair” is the second novel in the “Royal We” series and was released in the year 2020. Making it down the aisle was just the easy part, as Rebecca “Bex” Porter has to survive her own scandals and adjust to royal British life.
After the scandalous secret upends their fairy tale wedding, transforming it into a nightmare, Rebecca Porter and Prince Nicholas, her husband, are in a self-imposed exile. The public’s angry with them. The Queen is even more angry. And the press is salivating over all of it. Cutting themselves off from family and friends and fleeing from the world’s judgmental eyes, just feels like the best possible way to protect their all-consuming and fragile romance.
However when a crisis forces the new Duchess and Duke on back to London, the Band-Aid that they had placed over their problems begins peeling at the edges. Now, while new and old family secrets threaten to derail her new royal life. Bex must face the emotional wreckage that she and Nick left behind them. With the world, with the Queen, and with Freddie (Nick’s brother), whose sins might not be forgotten all that easily, nor forgiven.
