Helen Phifer is a published author.

Phifer was born in Barrow-in-Furness, a small town. She grew up there and continued to live there as an adult with her husband and children. She says that the town can occasionally receive some not great press, but confirms that it is a nice area to live in. It is surrounded by gorgeous scenic coast line and is fairly close to the Lake District, which is another beautiful area.

Helen confesses that she has always loved reading as well as writing. When it comes to reading, she likes to pick books that make the hair on her neck go up! Helen always has had a penchant for scary stories. When she eventually could not find enough books in this genre to suit her requirements, she decided that she would boost the amount of scary story books out there by writing some of her own!

Helen Phifer is the creator and the author of the Annie Graham series. The series kicked off for the first time in 2013 with the release of her first book in the series, titled The Ghost House. It would be followed a year later by the sequel. The Forgotten Cottage would come out, then the fourth book, The Lake House. The sixth book in the series came out in 2017, so check out this fictional series if you are looking for an awesome series to read with several books in it that are full of suspenseful mystery and thrills.

The Ghost House is the first book in the Annie Graham series. In this debut novel, readers get to meet the main character for the first time.

Annie is one tough grown woman, and she would be the first to admit that there is not much out there that scares her. Maybe other people are afraid of spiders or strange sounds of the house creaking in the middle of the night. Annie has gone through a lot herself as a result of her profession.

Being a part of the police force was something that led her to experience a lot of horrors. She put that behind her and tries not to focus on the haunting aspects of her job. You just have to keep moving ahead and keep moving forward. Annie agrees to do a favor for her brother and look after his farm house for him. It sounded like it would be a simple enough task.

Once she gets there, she finds that she is actually drawn to an old house. The crumbling mansion sits in the woods close by, and something about it just seems so interesting to her. The empty house is in total ruins and it’s clear that no one lives in it, so she thinks that going into it and checking things out won’t be that big of a deal.

The mansion is definitely old and has fallen into total disrepair. After all, no one’s been taking care of it or living there for what looks like Annie Graham to be decades at least. She is fascinated and wants to explore the house as much as possible. But things get a little too real when she finds a connection to the past that is just a little spooky.

Not much gets to her, but Annie has found the diary of someone that used to live in the home. The resident’s name was Alice, and the book may hold tons of information inside. She has a hunch that the diary might contain secrets of the past– secrets that may not be that pleasant once they are revealed. Still, Annie is hooked by the sense of intrigue she’s feeling and decides that she really needs to know more about the house, the history, the people, everything.

She has a sense that Alice was able to uncover some type of horrible truth. But what would that be? It’s been nearly a century or more and it’s not like Annie has a time machine on hand to jump back and witness what went on for herself. Could this house or what Alice knew be related to the murders of some local young women?

Annie has no idea, but it’s clear that the present has as much darkness running around in it as the past did for her counterpart Alice. With a serial killer on the loose, Annie could very well be the next victim on his list. It’s a race against the clock, and she’s trying to do all that she can in the moment to track down a murderer before they strike again.

Can she do it before things get too out of hand? Will the killer be able to claim another victim? With the past hot on her heels and the future looking less certain than ever, it’s up to Annie Graham to buckle down and get the job done. Will she be able to nab the guilty suspect and get a murderer off of the streets for good? Read this thriller to find out!

The Secrets of the Shadows is the second book in the Annie Graham series. If you thought the first tale was exciting, go ahead and check out this fast-paced thriller from an author that knows scary stories!

When it comes to Sophie, she has a fear. She’s afraid of a very specific thing. The man that lurks in the shadows always scared her, but he only appeared when she was alone. Other people meant that he would disappear. The month of June in 1984, her fears were justified. The shadow man took her.

Annie Graham is working when she gets a call. It turns out that a body has been discovered, a suspected homicide. Naturally, this lets Annie immediately know that a killer is out there. However, her gut is telling her that this case is going to be different than the others.

The occurrence of a little girl outside of her window signals to her that the past is on the verge of making a guest appearance. Something went wrong nearly three decades ago. Can Annie right the wrongs of history while stopping a murderer dead in their tracks? Read this book to find out!
