Herbie Brennan is a young adult and fantasy fiction author whose work has been published in more than fifty countries across the globe. Since he writes in both the fantasy and young adult genres, his works find appreciation in both adult circles and with children. The sales of his novels have exceeded 8 million copies. Herbie has been involved in the children’s market for years and has been writing everything from game books, to teenage fiction, picture books, and school curriculum nonfiction works. Given his keen eye for market development and technology, he was among the pioneers of adventure gamebooks and he first became a multimillion bestseller via his “GrailQuest” series. “Faerie Wars” his teenage series also became an international bestseller in more than twenty jurisdictions across the world, became a New York Times bestseller, and a United States No 1 Top Teenage Pick. He has also been a prolific author writing young adult fantasy novels and has developed a reputation for challenging conventional ideas through clear and easy style and penetrating intelligence. This is reflected in his interests which range from quantum physics, transpersonal psychology, comparative religion, spirituality, psychical research, and reincarnation. His reappraisal of ancient history often stirs lively discussions in the press and on radio and TV. He occasionally broadcasts his lectures throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Like many of his contemporaries, Herbie Brennan got interested in mysticism when he was a child. Right from the time he was able to read, he could be found with his nose deep in mystical books. He was soon pursuing unconventional lines of research and by the time he was nine, he had hypnotized his best friend. As an eighteen-year-old, he got employment as a reporter with the “Belfast Telegraph.” Only aged twenty-four he became Ireland’s newspaper editor. In the 1960s, he lived in Dublin and besides his work in advertising, marketing, counseling, and hypnotherapy, he also edited “Scene,” a weekly news magazine run by art director Jim Fitzpatrick. Brennan had always wanted to author science fiction and even though he did not particularly read fantasy works, he has ended up authoring many novels in the genre. He came to love adventure works after reading “Dungeons and Dragons” after which he started designing his award-winning role-playing games. His American publisher who was impressed by “Warlock of Firetop Mountain” asked if he would write something similar and so was born the idea for his “Grailquest” series. “Astral Doorways” was his first published work that was an exploration of out of body experiences. The novel would become a classic and specialist bestseller. He published his first young adult fantasy “Aztec Quest” in 1997 and by the time he was thirty he quit everything else to become a full-time author. He now has more than 100 works to his name with many of those going on to become bestselling titles.

When Herbie Brennan is not writing his novels, he often gives seminars and lectures. These usually include themes of magical training, reincarnation research, quantum physics, the astral plane, psychical research, dreamwork, and spiritual development. When he went to the University of Exeter, he decided to do his masters in spirit communication and is also working on spirit influence on human history. Brennan is currently married to Jacquie Burgess a psychotherapist, author, and master medical herbalist. He also has two daughters Sian and Aynia from a previous marriage.

“Faerie Wars” by Herbie Brennan is a thrilling fantasy novel that introduces Henry Atherton. He had gone to help Mr. Fogarty with some house chores and expected to find a cranky old man living in a messed up house. What he never expected to find is the crown prince of the Faerie realm one Pyrgus Malvae who had traveled to the human world to escape the treacherous “Faeries of the Night” that wanted him dead. Using trapped lightning, he had found a portal and made his way to the human world. Pyrgus is being hunted by the leader of the “Faeries of the Night” who is a nefarious daemon named Lord Hairstreak who works with Chalkhill and Brimstone the greedy owners of a glue factory and an egomaniacal demon prince. They all fantasize about becoming rulers of the Faerie realm and believe the only way they can achieve this is by taking out Pyrgus. Enlisting Holly Blue his sister and Henry his new friend, Pyrgus needs to keep himself alive and head back to the faerie world in one piece before his enemies find him. But there are many portals open out there and he cannot afford to enter by the wrong one as it may be controlled by his enemies.

Herbie Brennan’s “The Purple Emperor” sees Henry Atherton back in London and living his old life as he believed that all was well in the world of the Faeries. Pyrgus his friend and now the crown prince was to be made Purple Emperor in a few days. But then Princess Holy Blue had appeared out of nowhere and asked for Henry’s help. She tells him that there is a plot to take out Pyrgus before his coronation and that is not even the biggest of their problems. The murdered Purple Emperor who was Pyrgus’s father has been brought back to life through nefarious necromantic wizardry. Now the menacing Faeries of the Night and the Lord Hairstreak have taken control of the Faerie realm forcing Pyrgus and his friends and supporters into exile. Henry is forced to go back to the Faerie world to help his friend but things become complicated when the mystical portal he wanted to use suddenly disappears. Henry has to scramble to keep himself alive in a world full of danger and surprises.

“Ruler of the Realm” by Herbie Brennan sees Henry going back to the Faerie world for the third time. But he is now going to a different place under a new guise. Lord Hairstreak has proposed a truce between the Faeries of the Light and the Faeries of the Night while Holly Blue has become Queen. In the meantime, Prince Pyrgus has found some enigmatic flowers that can be made into a forbidding weapon, even as there are reports of Beleth the Prince of Darkness leading an invasion into the realm. Queen Blue thinks her uncle has recently become uncharacteristically generous and trying to find out the reason for this, she visits the Spicemasters labyrinth. She has been told that she needs to be wary of someone close to her but when she is kidnapped by one of the unlikeliest of candidates, it is clear that she never took heed to the advice. Chaos ensues from the kidnapping which makes for a thrilling adventure as Henry, Pyrgus, and Blue fight a furious battle to secure the throne and protect the realm from forces that would destroy it.
