Honesty Price
Honesty Price is an author that writes Black contemporary romance, among other things, that jumped into the world of writing romance with her very first project “back to Us” in the year 2019.

Honesty gets inspired to write by music. She’s a huge Neo-Soul and R&B fan. The chords and lyrics bring the characters to her. It could also be something really small, like a side comment made in a TV show or a movie or some conversation with a friend. The ideas will just pop up and she tries to see just how far she is able to go with them.

She released this one story, called “Make Me Beg”, which was inspired by Facebook Group Readers. They had the idea and Honesty, J. Chary, and Kema B. (who are all Black romance writers) put together a series based off this idea.

The process is difficult for her to do. What frustrates her the most is writing itself; doing the work of developing a compelling story with some interesting characters which makes more sense outside of her head and has got some sort of impact on her readers. Whether the story is fun and lighthearted or emotionally challenging, she wants the work she produces to be memorable to her readers. Hitting the right notes and beats to get there is not nearly as easy as her favorite authors make it look.

However even with all of the challenges of writing, she loves the finished product. She began her work as a writer since she wanted to read the stories floating around in her brain and being able to do that is very rewarding.

Finishing her first book has been her most significant achievement as an author. She decided to write her first novel in December of 2018 and published it in March of 2019. Honesty told herself that she’d do a thing and she did it. So anything after that is a bonus. That is why it is difficult for her to set any long term goals for her writing, she only wants to finish the stories that she starts, and she wants them to be so good that readers will sit still for a minute after they have finished reading. She wants them to be so full that they cannot rest until they somebody about what they read. If she is able to do that consistently, no matter the trope or the tone, she would call herself a successful writer.

While writing, she will reread books that she has already had a pass at.

Honesty typically writes some of her personality into her characters’ siblings or best friends. Typically these characters act as the reader’s surrogate and at times, she will be just as frustrated with the lead character as the readers are.

To avoid writers’ block, she skips over the part that she cannot seem to write for something that she is more interested in and comes back later.

She co-hosts a podcast, called “The Write Honesty Podcast”, with a friend, and they talk about authors and books that they love.

“All of Me” was released in 2019. Ivy’s lived a multitude of lives in her 20 something years. With her hot girl ways now behind her, she is focused on changing her own reputation. Her sister’s wedding is approaching and she is in need of a date, after a break-up.

Greg believes that he has got life all figured out since he follows his single rule: always tell the truth, even when it hurts. When he needs a date for a family event, he uses this app to find Ivy and he is instantly intrigued when she is not charmed by his brash and lay it all on the table demeanor.

The chip on his shoulder and her baggage aren’t any match for the spark that is so obviously there between the two of them. From their very first encounter, they find laughter and lust, however are they going to find love?

“Back to Us” is the first novel in the “Phillips Family” series and was released in 2019. Malcolm believes that he’s got the perfect life, perfect family, and for him, Whitney’s the perfect wife. Up until she tells this secret which threatens to ruin their future and marriage.

“Creating Us” is the second novel in the “Phillips Family” series and was released in 2019. Roland has always loved Rose, however he always had this funny way of showing it. When circumstances put them under the same roof, can he get her to see him in a different light?

“Finding Us” is the third novel in the “Phillips Family” series and was released in 2022. The story about Briana and Isaiah. They have the proper feelings but at the wrong time and love continues to slap them in the face when they least expect it. Even though it seems to be impossible, they will get their happily ever after. When though?

Part one of a two part story, that is concluded in the next story in the series. It’s a slow burn that beta readers described as being an amazing emotional roller coaster ride. The story ends with a cliffhanger and contains references to severe and persistent mental illness and its side effects.

“Fixing Us” is the fourth novel in the “Phillips Family” series and was released in 2022. Life pushed them apart, however one of them is determined to pull them back together. Is love enough to fix each of their broken hearts?

“Writer’s Block” is the first novel in the “Writing Love” series and was released in 2020. Keri writes romance stories. Well, she used to write them because at the moment the words just are not flowing for her. In desperate need of a change of scenery and a quiet place that she can write in, she looks for Noah who has a secluded country home that’s got plenty of room for her. The attraction is immediate however the payoff is delayed. Is Noah going to be the cure for Keri’s writer’s block?
