Hope Callaghan is an American author of Christian, suspense, and mystery books best known for her Christian themed series Garden Girls Christian Cozy Mystery. With over 70 books to her name and a few best-sellers on this list, Callaghan is among the most respected authors in this category. She is an Amazon bestselling author and the winner of the 2017 Mom’s Choice Award.

It is not long before she is hired as the assistant director for the cruise ship. Millie is excited to be starting a new life, and she plans to dedicate all her energy to her new job.

Millie’s first day at work is quite eventful, and the first thing she sees is a body surrounded by strangers. Driven by curiosity, Millie asks a few questions to the crew and travelers, but no one seems to have all the details of what happened to the dead woman. It is at this point that Millie decides to play detective and find out the truth. After all, she had several acted as an assistant at her husband’s PI practice, and she knew a thing or two about investigative work. With little, if any, help Millie hopes to solve this mystery by the end of the trip.

In the week that follows, Millie will be busy digging up facts. This will be one action-packed week where she will come close to losing her life and job. Fortunately, she solves the mystery before the killer can get her. Her employer is also gracious enough to keep her employed even though Millie spent most if not all, her time in her first cruise solving the murder. This can only mean more cruise.

This is an excellent start to an intriguing series. The main character is a Christian who prays and asks God for guidance. All the other characters are well developed; it is interesting to see how they interact with the main character. The storyline is captivating, while the mystery is intriguing.
If you are looking for a cozy Christian mystery story, Starboard secret is a great choice. Join Millie on her maiden cruise and see just how far she will go in search of the truth. The story will draw you in from the first page, and the numerous twists and turns will keep you captivated to the end. It helps that Millie is a lovable character. It is easy to identify with her while wishing her the best on her first job. The cruise ship angle is also unique and a welcome break from all the mysteries featuring dingy bars and rundown neighborhoods.

Who Murdered Mr. Malone? Is the first book in the Garden Girls series. The story is set in Belhaven, a small town in Michigan where nothing exciting seems to happen. All this is before a body is found in the bushes right behind the elementary school. The entire city is shocked, and Gloria Rutherford, otherwise known as Garden Girl, decides to take it upon herself to unravel this mystery. There will be a lot of resistance along the way, but Gloria has a supportive girls’ squad, and there is an interesting man who will be willing to give an amateur detective a chance.

To many people, Gloria is a depressed woman. This cannot be further from the truth. The widowed lady is just bored and looking for something to distract her from the daily routine. An opportunity presents itself when Gloria sees several police officers at a crime scene. Her curiosity gets the better of her, and Gloria visits the scene the following day. There is not much Gloria knows aside from the information she read from the papers, but she is convinced that it is adequate for the start. Together with Garden Girls club members, Gloria finds some evidence at the scene and uses it to launch her investigation.
Gloria is an amateur detective in every sense of the word, but as she stumbles around the crime scene, she gathers clues that point her to the killer. Her efforts do not go unnoticed, and soon enough, Gloria will have the killer on her trail. Will she be successful in uncovering the truth and relaying this information to the authorities? How will the Garden Girls ensure that mystery is solved in the shortest duration possible? Get answers to these and more questions in this intriguing piece.
